He picked up his phone on the nightstand and called Rahma. He waited a long time because his phone was not picked up by Rahma.
A few seconds later his phone was picked up by Rahma.
“Hallo. Assalamualaikum,” Rahma said.
“Waalaikumsalam,” Reply Rendi.
“Ma, what are you doing?” ask Rendi.
“I'm in the office, sir. Is preparing for tomorrow's checkup. Tomorrow there is an examination from BPK,” replied Rahma.
Rendi glanced at the clock attached to the wall of her room. Time shows at half-nine o'clock in the evening.
“Still working long?” ask Rendi.
“Still a long time, Sir. You still have a lot to prepare,” replied Rahma.
“Later when you're done tell me! Let me pick you up,” said Rendi.
“Not necessary, Mr. Rendi. I can go home by myself. Anyway my boarding place is close to the office,” replied Rahma.
“I just pick it up. It's late at night. Not good women walk alone night-night,” said Rendi.
The sound of Rahma breathing.
“Alright, Mr. Rendi,” replied Rahma.
“Do not forget my phone if you want to go home!” said Rendi.
“Good, Mr. Rendi,” replied Rahma.
“Assalamualaikum,” says Rendi.
Randy ended the conversation. Rendi took the television remote that was on the nightstand and then she turned on the television using temote. He decided to watch television while waiting for Rahma to call.
Time keeps passing. Unwittingly time has shown ten o'clock less than fifteen minutes. However, there was no phone call from Rahma. Rendi took her cell phone and she called Rahma. He waited a long time but his phone was not answered by Rahma. He tries again to call Rahma but Rahma does not answer his phone.
Rendi is worried, she is afraid of anything happening with Rahma. He got out of bed. He changed his shorts with trousers and then put on a jacket. Then he took the keys to his car lying on the desk. Rendi comes out of her room, she decides to pick up Rahma.
Rendi drives her car to Rahma's office. Arriving in front of the office Rendi asked the security guard who was on guard duty.
“Pak. Is Rahma's mother still inside?” ask Rendi.
“Mother Rahma has come home from earlier,” replied the security guard.
Rendi was shocked to hear that.
“What time does Rahma's mother come home?” ask Rahma.
“Around half-hour ten. When Rahma's mother wanted to go home, she greeted me,” replied the security guard.
“Thank you, Sir,” said Rendi. Rendi pulls the car out of the office yard. Then he runs his car to Rahma's boarding house.
Arriving near the alley to Rahma's boarding house, Rendi parked her car on the side of the road. Then he got out of the car and walked to the place of Rahma's boarding house.
The rendition stops in front of the boarding house. The boarding house looks crowded, boarding children are eating instant noodles in the living room while watching Korean dramas.
“Assalamualaikum,” says Rendi.
The boys look at the door.
“Waalaikumsalam,” replied children kost.
“Rahma is there?” ask Rendi.
“Rahma hasn't come home yet, sir,” Ineh replied.
“Not home? Where, huh? I was in his office said the security guard he had come home from half ten,” said Rendi.
“Masa, anyway?” It moved from the seat. He walked up the stairs and went upstairs. A few minutes later he went down again.
“Not yet home. Tapped several times but not opened,” said Ineh.
Hearing Ineh's words, Rendi immediately felt anxious. He was afraid that anything would happen to Rahma.
Then Ineh walked towards the front of the boarding house. He looked up at the window upstairs.
“The window curtain is also not closed.” Ineh pointed to Rahma's bedroom window.
“Where is Rahma going? It's late at night,” asked Rendi anxiously.
“Try Mr. Rendi find him in roadside tents. Maybe he was eating in tents on the side of the road,” Eka said.
“Alright I will search in front.” Rendi went straight from the boarding place to the tents of five feet on the roadside. Rendi walked down the tent stalls on the side of the road. However, as a result he did not find Rahma.
Rendi looked at the watch that was coiled around her wrist. Time has shown ten o'clock over fifteen minutes. The joints are getting anxious.
“Rahma, where are you?” asked Rendi while looking to the right and to the left.
Rendi decided to look at the tent stall near Rahma's office. He walked down the sidewalk and kept calling Rahma. However, as he passed through the quiet and poorly lit pavement he heard the sound of a telephone ringing. Rendi looked back but there was no one behind her. Rendi kept trying to contact Rahma and the phone voice was still being heard.
Until he finally saw the light on the sidewalk. Rendi approaching the light turned out to be a cell phone lying on the sidewalk. The uneven surface of the pavement slightly collapsed inwards so that passers-by did not see any cell phones there.
“Whose phone is it?” Rendi took the phone.
On the screen of the phone it says Mr. Rendi calling. Rendi was immediately shocked to see the writing. He called Rahma again and the phone rang. Rendi's face immediately pale when she found out that the phone belonged to Rahma.
“Rahma where are you? Why before you go home you do not contact me first,” said Rendi desperately.
When he was confused suddenly Rahma's phone rang. On the screen of the phone it says Papa calling. Rendi's face grew pale when she found out who called Rahma.
Rendi is confused whether she should answer Rahma's phone or not. He was afraid that Rahma's parents would misunderstand him. Especially now that there are rampant cases of murder committed by close friends or girlfriends. But if he does not immediately answer the phone, Rahma's parents will feel anxious, especially now it is late at night.
Finally, Rendi braced herself to answer the phone.
“Assalamualaikum,” says Rendi.
