"Why is this selfless girl at our dinner table?!"
The typical voice of a haughty middle-aged woman sounded. The four heads on the dining table looked up at the same time. She, the woman who claimed to be Grandma Cheo was staring at Zena with eyeballs that almost jumped out.
His hands ruffled around his waist, his nose snorting violently. The blood in the body boils giving a burning sensation to his entire skin and flesh. It surged with excitement as it ignited a simple figure at the dining table.
"Sit down and eat, Mom!" chendrik again turned to the food in front of him.
"Sitting with him? Don't be crazy, Chendrik. There's no way I'm sitting at a table with that shameless girl!" refuse Mom to fold both her hands on her chest.
Sebastian glanced at Zena, the girl was completely unperturbed and continued to eat. Who cares? He'll stay there as he wants.
"Yes, have one of your maids get some food and eat it in your own room" suggested Chendrik, who turned away from the food.
The more furious the woman was almost old. Seeing the indifferent Zena, and Chendrik who ignored her, further ignited the emotions within the chest. He clenched both hands not accepting to be treated like that by his own son.
"You're Mom's son, Chendrik. Why do you seem to defend that woman more than your own mother?" pick it up with a tone made as sad as possible. Sebastian snorted, he knew very well that the woman was indeed good at acting.
Chendrik put the fork and knife hard enough on the table, jerking the woman's body and making her tremble slightly. He took a breath before looking at the face of the most meritorious woman in his life.
"Mom's coming to eat?" He nodded involuntarily, "sit down and eat!" The follow-up orders from Chendrik were not denied. He sat down despite being annoyed to see Zena who did not react.
There was fear in his heart seeing Chendrik's flat, cold expression. The highlight of his eyes sharply implied dislike. Cheo looked down on the Grandma as the woman's eyes turned towards him.
No one said a word during the dinner. Except, Sebastian's been caught stealing a look at Zena.
"Sister, accompany me to sleep," Cheo's pinta who was greeted with a gentle smile by Zena. The girl nodded softly at the end of her meal. Drinking the juice once in a gulp and slamming it a little hard made the arrogant woman's body aghast in shock.
Zena carved out a smile as sweet as possible to avenge the middle-aged woman's sharp gaze.
"Cheo, let Grandma accompany you to sleep. That woman doesn't deserve to be in the same room with you" the Grandmother gently waved at Cheo.
The ten-year-old glanced at Zena before putting on a strange smile for Grandma.
"I'm not used to sleeping with venomous snakes. My friend is a tiger and a lioness. Snake, I feel disgusted when I see it," Cheo said without burden. He turned his head to face Chendrik without caring about the reaction the woman had shown.
"Dad, I'm done. I went to the room" said Cheo as he went with Zena and went to the boy's room. He smiled sinisterly as the old eye did not blink looking at him.
"Where are you going?" sergeant Chendrik when his sister followed Zena.
"Of course to the room." The tall man gnawed and soon passed leaving Chendrik with the mother who went back to devouring his food.
Chendrik rubbed his fuming face, he folded his fidgety lips against his own feelings as well as the attitude of the younger brother who blatantly challenged him. No way!
"I hope that in the future I will be able to maintain an attitude towards Zena. Mother knows nothing about the girl, to offend her is tantamount to destruction. Painful as it hurt Cheo, the child will feel restless at his comfort when Mom is rude to Zena" Chendrik said, standing up and leaving the dining room.
The middle-aged woman snorted, unconcerned at what Chendrik said. He still does not like the presence of Zena in the lives of his children and grandchildren. Who cares about the girl's origin? All he knows is that Zena is the burden of Chendrik's life who must get out of his son's life immediately.
"You're taking our house to your room, Cheo," Zena said after being inside the boy's room. The atmosphere of Liman Island, the hidden hut house, the beautiful green hills, also the forest where they hunt, is vividly painted on the walls of Cheo's room.
"Hah .. I miss home," he murmured as he slammed himself on the soft bed of the child he grew up in.
Cheo also lies beside Zena's body, watching the ceiling of the room that describes the state of the island sky they live in first.
"Son't you promise we'll be home after the trouble here is over?" ask Cheo who always dreamed of being on the island almost every night.
Zena turned to him, tilting her body to face the boy. One of his hands was bent to support his head. He smiles.
"Sister promised, we'll go home to see Belle and Tuma. Let's bring them here and unite with the Tigris. Complete is our family" said Zena who was greeted with a smile of relief by Cheo.
"Tudurlah! Tomorrow you have to go on a mission and you're going to school, right?" Cheo interfered. Close the body to Zena, hug the girl.
Chendrik was behind the door of the child's room, hearing their conversation and seeing how close the two were. They were even closer than he and his own real mother.
Chendrik took his step into the study. He approached the desk, taking something he had prepared for Zena tomorrow. A school uniform complete with stationery.
"Hah .. is it okay to send Zena there? Meanwhile, the soldiers I sent no one back" he lamented, leaning on the table.
He slammed his hands on his feet, looking up at the ceiling of the room. His life had been empty, the presence of Zena and Cheo filling the void of his heart.
He walked out of the room along with Zena who also came out of Cheo's room. Their steps met and faced off in the hallway of the second floor of the large mansion.
"You sure you're gonna go alone to get everything done?" chendrik asked with anxious strokes that he did not hide.
Zena squinted her eyes, catching something else from her figure. Next, he took a breath and shook his shoulders.
"Tell me, if you're worried about me, Chendrik!" pinta Zena's. His dark iris poked at Chendrik's unblinking golden brown bead staring at him.
The man stepped increasingly eroding the distance between them. Zena remained unmoved in her place not intending to take a step.
Their height was a little far away making Zena have to look up in order to be able to look at him.
"How do you think? Truly, my little heart will not let you go, Zena. I want you to stay here playing with Cheo and let the soldiers do all these dangerous missions. Sebastian will help them. Stay here, Zena," said Chendrik.
Their eyes are still fixated on the same strong taste in the mind. Is ...?
