2 Hours passed quickly. It took them another 4 hours to reach Alex's residence.
Eva just kept quiet and turned her face, looked outside, saw a beautiful view from inside the car. But not so. He was daydreaming and making plans upon arriving there.
“Why are you working so hard?” Igor broke the silence. “You even insisted on catching Arthur alone.
“Everyone talks about him. They say he was an accomplice to the murder of his own father. Besides, I'll get a special promotion if I catch him.
Not only that, my career in the police will be set for life and get a pretty high pension certainly.”
“Jeez, I'm surprised. Turns out you have such big ambitions.”
“Which person has no ambition? I'm sure everyone has their own ambitions, as do I. I should take that chance while I can.” Eva grinned broadly at Igor.
Time passes quickly. At exactly 8 p.m., Eva and Igor have reached Alex's residence.
2 Floor house with ancient building. The house is quite spacious surrounded with vegetation that has filled the walls of the house.
The location of the house is quite far from the surrounding residents. There were hardly any neighbors living around the house, and not a single lamp illuminated it.
A small flashlight, but it can provide a fairly bright light carried by Eva.
He got out of the car and got closer to the yard of the house, shining around. Several yellow ribbons were still seen circling the house.
“It seems, once I get in, I will never be able to get out again.” Eva scrunched her forehead.
He started walking into the house, followed by Igor following him from behind.
A jasmine plant makes Igor's steps stop. That jasmine reminded him of that time. He and his brother deliberately planted jasmine in some places as ornamental plants.
“Darling, what are you doing?” ask Eva who has arrived at the door.
“Not existing.” Igor smiled continuing his steps.
“Look at the door sealed. We can't go in,” said Igor holding the door padlock.
“Frank!” Eva flicked towards the window of the house and walked over.
*GRAND!!! The window door was wide open just by sliding the glass.
“We can go through here.” Eva climbed up the wall of the window that was not high enough and went into the house.
Igor has no other reason not to go inside.
The living room is quite cluttered. Almost everything was already filled with spider webs.
Several metal crafts and other sculptures such as, Buddhist statues, urns, and photo frames were abandoned in the room.
A Buddha statue the size of a human hand was taken by Eva. The carving is not perfect because some parts have been broken.
“Could Arthur have made this? Can you learn the sketches using this sculpture?”
Igor took the statue from Eva's hand and began to look at it. “This was made by amateurs,” he said.
“I don't think that's bad enough. If some other parts are still intact, it might be very beautiful,” said Eva.
“It's candle engraving, not metal engraving. A template is made with soft wax to make a cast print, and be this item,” explains Igor.
“Do you see a rough line here?” Igor pointed at the part of the statue. “It is made with miser. And this part, you can clearly see it's not symmetrical with the rest.
It seems, this maker could not use the miserly tool properly and correctly, he was just trying to show off. Maybe, that's his trademark. Can't use a tool. It also cannot be sold,” explains Igor.
“Entah.” Igor put the statue back on the table. “Nobody knows about that, right?”
Eva nodded, looking for another way to suppress her husband.
“Jeez, what a pity. We came all the way here with no results.”
“Actually, what I want to go to is another place.” Eva grinned widely. “Underground room. Where Alex took some of his victims hostage.”
Igor was silent. Seen from the look on his face he did not want to go to that place. It would only make him angry, if he remembered the place.
“For what?” ask Igor.
“If you mind, you can wait in the car, honey. I'll go in by myself.”
Eva stepped towards the basement door.
“No. I don't mind.” Igor smiled holding Eva's hand and took the flashlight he was carrying. “Let's go. I'll take this from behind, and you show me the way.”
The basement room with the stairs turned towards the basement floor. Now Igor walked in front of entering the basement.
Under the basement was a fairly large dog cell. Several reporters said Alex used the cells for his victims before his execution.
Igor stopped at one of the stairs and closed his nose. Eva just smiled cynically behind him.
“That stinks of blood. Did you never kiss her? Blood odor will remain, unless cleaned using hydrogen peroxide.”
Igor kept quiet and continued his steps.
Striking all the corners of the room in the basement, Igor recalled his childhood, because his father had locked him in the dog's cell.
Igor's facial complexion was frantic, and Eva was still not satisfied with Igor's reaction.
Igor's eyes. There was no warning before, Eva suddenly tuned Igor's walkman with a loudspeaker. Igor didn't think Eva would do that there.
The voice of the recording of the little lady who was singing and dissolved in her deep sadness. I don't know whose voice is on the walkman.
Eva did that to lure her emotions out. There was nothing else he could do to get Igor hooked, except for the sound of his walkman.
With some explanation she had obtained, Eva was sure Igor would react to it, and now she did.
Igor's body pecked for a moment. It was as if his body was frozen hearing the sound of a walkman playing in that place.
When Igor turned his head, Eva just smiled and asked back.
“How do you think this recording sounds? To me, this looks sad. She sings, but it's as if she's going to cry.”
Eva continues to pretend to be stupid because she wants to see her husband's own reaction.
“What is it?” Igor smiled gulped.
“Entahlah. I found this in Arthur's bag, mixed with other stuff and the picture book you saw earlier this afternoon.”
“Lantas, why did you spin it?” ask Igor.
Igor squeezed the flashlight he was holding tightly. His neck, forehead, cheeks, and entire body were filled with cold sweat from hearing that.
His heart desperately wanted to rebel and take the walkman, but he couldn't have done that to his own wife. Igor must remain Igor, not Arthur.
