KAYLA, The Substitute

KAYLA, The Substitute
Deepest

Kayla took a deep breath and nodded as Dev took her in for a long time to the house that kept her away from the city.

Luckily Kayla is not the type of woman who is drawn into the grief of the past, although the memory of her brain spinning for the painful things that have happened in that house does not make her broken and traumatized.

He steps in with good intentions to meet the little daughter of his best friend Nikayla.

Their steps came to a halt when in the doorway of the nursery, a middle-aged woman was sleeping with her granddaughter.

"Mama," call Dev quietly as they enter.

Lady Lolita turned her head, smiling at Dev but fading as she realized another figure was coming in with her son.

Lady Lolita was surprised to see Kayla, she put the tiny sleeping baby back into the baby box.

"Devs?" madame Lolita said as if in disbelief. He approached with an attitude like looking if there was another figure behind Kayla. The little figure Dev told me about yesterday. But he saw no one but his son and ex-wife.

Dev nodded then smiled.

"Yes, this is Kayla coming to see Khanza."

Kayla looked down respectfully as she greeted, "Mrs, how are you?" kayla said politely.

Lady Lolita walked over, she stared fixedly at Kayla's face which immediately lowered her head.

"As you can see, it's nice to see you back. Sorry for the past, I thought you were coming with my granddaughter" the madam said softly as she touched Kayla's arm, the look on his gloomy face immediately turned to his son without waiting for Kayla's response.

Kayla was surprised by that, the thing that seemed trivial and seemed to avoid made her speechless with the attitude of Mama Dev.

"Mom's going to the kitchen first!" said the mother who immediately left the room of her grandson Khanza.

Dev stared at Kayla's confused look.

"I'm sorry Mama, maybe Mama's still ashamed of you. Yesterday I told you you'd come to this town for Nikayla, it looks like Mama was expecting you to come with Adrian."

Kayla fell silent.

"You told me about Adrian?"

"Of course, that's my family's happy news."

Kayla stared at the door of Khanza's still open room, where Mama Dev had disappeared from.

"Your mother's attitude confused me, but I'm glad at least she didn't turn me down" Kayla said.

"I'm sorry for Mama's attitude, maybe she's ashamed of you."

Kayla smiled, "I understand, can I approach Khanza?"

Dev nodded then smiled.

"Of course, isn't that why you came here?"

Kayla chuckles, she steps closer to the baby box. His eyes sparkled to see the little daughter of his best friend was asleep with her hands on her head.

"You're so sweet baby, can I hold her?" kayla asked Dev, who had been staring at his ex-wife's face since.

The man nodded again.

Kayla seemed happy, she took Khanza from the baby box and held her hand and kissed the little girl's cheek with anxiety.

"Why she's so beautiful, you see her nose looks like Adrian's nose!" kayla laughed.

"Yes, because they are brothers" Dev said quickly.

Kayla looked at Dev then nodded.

"Yes, they're brothers" Kayla looked at the tiny face again.

Khanza was so slumbering that he just squirmed for a while and then went to sleep again even though Kayla interrupted him with anxiety.

"What about the milk?" ask Kayla suddenly.

"He never got breast milk, only formula milk."

Kayla was speechless, she understood how Khanza could get ASI from her mother who was seriously ill. Unlike Adrian who used to be a full ASI until the age he was years.

Kayla stroked the cheek of the 4-month-old.

"All is His destiny. Although Khanza is here and Nika is in the hospital, I'm sure they'll be just as fine. I hope Nika will recover and take care of Khanza like any other mother."

Dev was silent.

"Bang Dev I'm so sorry about what happened to your family, I'm happy to meet Khanza and Nika today. Believe me everything will be fine, later if Adrian school holidays I will bring you here in touch with your parents and this beautiful brother. I wouldn't forbid if it was kindness."

"Adrian is yours too, he deserves to know who his father's family is. Sorry for so long, I'm really sorry about Adrian, and we can fix this relationship to make things better, I want my son to grow up like any other child with close ties to you and your family."

"Anyway, Adrian has grown up he will model what we do. He's your son, Khanza your daughter too. We'll meet them if there's time."

Dev nodded then smiled.

"I admire you even more" the man replied touching Kayla's arm.

"It's supposed to be like that, I'm not the kind of woman that's lingering in the past. I'm thinking about the reality of the present, and I'm not going to forbid Adrian to be close to your family, good relationships will lead to a good generation anyway, right?"

Dev nodded without answering.

"I'm at a loss for words against you now, wasn't you a careless, short-thinking woman!" exclaim Dev chuckled.

Kayla laughed softly.

"Other is now."

They dissolved into the conversation, without them noticing Madam Lolita watching it from outside her grandson's room.

His intention to get in became a snob, he told the waiter who only brought drinks for Kayla, he immediately left while removing the corner of his eyes that were already wet.

Kayla smilingly gets an offer of a drink from the waiter, he asks Dev a lot of things.

"Why not go to college?" ask Dev.

Kayla shook her head, "There's no thought for that yet, I'm just afraid if I go to college again at your place we won't see each other often, I've moved on. What if I'm tempted again to the lecturer who is my ex-husband?" seductive Kayla with a joking tone.

Dev sparkled, his face became bright hearing the joke.

"I'd be so happy if that happened."

"And I'm gonna go back to being the bad girl who cornered my best friend's husband" Kayla laughed again.

Dev speechless.

"Bang Dev, Nika will recover, continue to accompany her as a good husband. Forget about our love, a love that may have existed only in a past life. We are living for a better future, we are all grown up. My priority is Adrian, no longer about men."

"Although I was young and certainly needed a companion. But I'm engaged, we're getting married soon, I hope our relationship will remain good after this meeting."

"Adrian could grow up if his parents compactly taught that not all broken home children could grow up lagging behind the others, precisely because we separated Adrian had to be smarter than he could."

Dev bowed.

"Bang Dev."

"The thing I regret the most is that I've allowed you to have a gap that others can have. Kayla, you're irreplaceable from my life" Dev stared back at Kayla deeply.
