KAYLA, The Substitute

KAYLA, The Substitute
The world is narrow

Dev stared at Kayla's sleeping face next to his poor daughter, Kayla not staying at the hotel because Khanza only wanted to be quiet and calm when in his hands.

Beside Kayla there is also Adrian who just slept. A beautiful sight in Dev's eyes, Kayla's figure is able to be the finicky winner of Khanza who has just been left by the Mama for good.

How can he manage his life again after this Dev thought, loving and waiting for the woman who is now present again in front of him but another reality that he will face later.

Kayla seems to have it, the woman will be married in a matter of weeks.

How could he have any malicious intent to take Kayla back if it was like that, Dev does not want to have such a wicked intention to hurt Kayla a second time if he destroys his ex-wife's life choices that have been steady in choosing other men for a companion.

Nikayla has been gone forever, now Khanza has to grow up without a mother. How Dev can get a surrogate mother as good as Kayla, who can win Khanza's heart while still a baby.

Dev must prepare his heart for his complicated life, on the one hand he loves Kayla on the other hand he also wants Kayla to be happy even though the choice does not fall on him anymore.

"Bang Dev," called Kayla to the pensive man.

Dev surprised.

"Sorry did I wake you?"

Kayla shook her head, "I should be the one apologizing for sleeping in Nika's bed."

Dev smiles.

"It's no problem, I'm glad Khanza can sleep like that. She cried like that made everyone afraid, pity her."

Kayla glanced at Khanza who was now fast asleep next to Adrian. In sadness there is a sense of happiness when seeing Adrian sleeping funny and adorable side by side with his sister.

"You see they're so similar" Kayla smiled again.

Dev looked towards his two children.

"They're sister, of course similar."

Kayla nodded again. They left the room letting Adrian and Khanza sleep soundly undisturbed after making sure both positions were safe.

Dev and Kayla talk a lot before dawn, they sit on the balcony of Nika's room overlooking the pool of the mansion.

Conversations that get along for ex-husband and wife who now choose to maintain a good relationship for the sake of their child.

"I'll be happy if you're happy Kayla, really forgive me for my past mistakes."

"I'm glad you have a big heart Bang Dev, not all of our will will will be realized. We can only plan, God is the one who decides, I thought I would always be your companion, but in fact I will accompany other men in other marital lives."

"Trust me nothing has changed between you and Adrian even if I get married later, you can pick Adrian up whenever you want if he's off school. About Khanza, I think finding a competent babysitter will be better than bothering your Mama or Mama Nika."

"Let the two Khanza grandmothers just accompany the growth of your daughter, pity them if they take care of the baby at a age that is not young anymore" Kayla continued to advise.

Dev agreed.

"I agree, but if I may wish you to be Khanza's mother, to be my wife again and Adrian will get his wish to have full biological parents."

Kayla took a deep breath, she was silent for a moment when Nika asked her to replace her best friend again as a substitute mother for Khanza if Nika was gone, and now Nika's speech just felt meaningful.

Adrian's reason is also a dilemma, however, Adrian certainly has a desire to keep his parents intact like his other friends. But it is not easy, what has passed.

Kayla has chosen Gilang to wade through the household heresy better than ever.

"I'm sorry Bang Dev, I'm getting married. And it's not an easy decision, after all you're young, our future is still long, don't dissolve in my past love, how to know there will be another Kayla who will accompany you later. I always pray the best for you, for Khanza and all of us!"

****

All the painful time did not seem to have passed, sorrow slowly changed its routine back to normal. Doesn't life have to go on?

Adrian approached Kayla who was looking in the mirror with a white kebaya that he would wear when he was a few days away.

The mother turned around to see her son coming.

"Darling, are you home? Why not tell?" asked Kayla who immediately hugged her son.

"Papa's got another seminar in town tomorrow, so I'm home early. Anyway I want to be involved in the wedding preparations Mama, me and Rafi have promised to take part in this."

Kayla clucked, her son was indeed good at words.

"Everything's ready, anyway we just have to wait for the day, where's your Papa?"

"There was in front of me talking to grandma" Adrian replied innocently.

Kayla nodded, she immediately changed clothes and met Dev and Mama Hana.

"Hi," said Dev awkwardly, the man was neutralizing his feelings when Mama Hana told the mother of her son was getting married in a few days because it was accelerated, even though the marriage was already postponed next month.

"Bang Dev, Adrian said you have another seminar tomorrow?" base Kayla.

Dev nodded slowly, "Yes, I'll be here for a few days. Hmmmmm... It looks like I wasn't invited" Dev said, trying to smile as usual.

"I'm sorry, right.... Our marriage was brought forward, I don't know I was just following it. And you can come, of course!" kayla replied while rubbing her arm.

The marriage that was pushed back by Gilang, I don't know what the reason was if it had been pushed back for next month, but now it has to go forward a few more days.

"How's Khanza doing?"

"As usual, he's still fussy. It was difficult to find the right caregiver, twice the nanny asked to stop because she could not face Khanza. Mom and the waiter in the house."

Dev's answer made Kayla speechless, she was very sorry for the poor baby, until one month away her mother Khanza still likes fussy and sickly and has a decrease in weight because she does not want to suckle.

"I'm so sorry for your daughter."

"It's his fate, I can only give up."

Dev and Kayla looked at each other for a long time with feelings and thoughts that plagued the two. Luckily Adrian came, the atmosphere became warm by the cute behavior of the handsome boy.

They sat three on the porch, talking about Adrian's school and the many things Adrian did during his stay at his grandfather's house.

Without them realizing a car stopped and did not enter the fence page of Kayla's house, Gilang stopped his car suddenly when he saw who was visiting the house of his future wife at this time.

He sharpened his eyesight when he turned to the man who was hugging Adrian affectionately.

He frowned, after a while he was convinced that the man was a stranger to him.

"Devano?" muttered Gilang who was still trying to convince himself of his vision, because indeed before he had never met the ex-husband of Kayla.

Moments later, Gilang appeared to hit the steering wheel with annoyance and indignation.

"Damn it, the world is narrow."
