BSM Chapter. 2
Luckily Laura's stock of patience hasn't thinned out. So that he can still forgive and understand the busyness of Theo, including Theo canceled home last night. This kind of thing is not new once this happens, but it has happened many times. It is no stranger to Laura, so again and again Laura must be able to understand her.
Early in the morning Laura woke up. He tidied the dining table that he left was still neatly arranged since last night. The hard-earned food he cooked was special to Theo, he stored it in the refrigerator. He doesn't know when Theo will be home. Even if Theo came home, most of all Theo had eaten from outside. Because of Theo's busyness, they rarely eat together.
Theo prefers breakfast in the office cafeteria. With reasons to save time. Not infrequently, Theo often misses dinner with Laura. As long as Theo's reason was his busy life, Laura was aware of it.
Tong Ting
The doorbell rang repeatedly. The guest seemed impatient.
“Iya, briefly.” Rushing Laura swung her steps towards the living room, about to open the door. He thought the one who came was Theo. His heart that was originally muddled with grief is now back happily.
However, as soon as the door was opened, it looked not the handsome face of Theo, but the sour face of a middle-aged woman.
“Mother?” greet Laura.
“How long has it been to open the door? Why are you inside?”
Not the sweet reply that Laura received, it was a telling sentence that made her chest tight. Even the swallowed spit felt like a chunk of stone. Standing at the door was Lely, her mother-in-law.
“Sorry, Mom. I'm cleaning up. It was overnight_”
“Already, already. Bring this into.” Lely interrupted while thrusting a rantang. He did not even welcome the hand of Laura who wanted to crucify him.
It has become a habit of Lely, every time he came to visit he brought his favorite food Theo. It is understandable, because Theo is the youngest and only son. Theo has an older sister who is married and has a child.
It's not that she's not happy that her in-laws come with food. It's just, Laura felt bad and depressed. Because every time Lely comes, always the topic of discussion is about heredity. Something Laura still can't fulfill to this day.
Swallowing her saliva chelates, Laura accepted the challenger, brought it inside, and put it on the dining table.
“What did Theo tell Mom when she came home?” Laura asked herself. Because Theo never forgot to tell Lely.
“He came home this morning. That's why I came here to bring Theo's favorite chicken opor. Theo himself asked me to make it. Said kangen cuisine Mother.” Lely sat down on the sofa in the living room not far from the dining room. The middle-aged woman did not care what Laura felt like at this time, who felt she had been numbered by Theo, her husband.
“Why did Theo even tell Mom? He should have told me. I even cooked her favorite food.”
“Makanya so your wife it should be more attention with husband.”
Again Laura could only swallow her saliva. That sentence made his chest feel tight. Lely's words are not like when he and Theo were married five years ago. Even Lely's treatment was very sweet to him first. But now, over the past three years, both Lely's words and attitude have changed drastically.
“Oh yes, how are you?” lely asked turning his gaze to Laura, scanning Laura from toe to head.
Laura already knew which way Lely's question was headed. He tried to be mediocre, as if he did not understand. The attitude he took was no more just for the sake of keeping his heart and mental.
“My news is fine, Ma'am,” Laura replied as she scooped the rice from the rice cooker. Then put it on the dining table. Because Lely said, Theo came home this morning. At least he had prepared breakfast for Theo as a form of concern. Although maybe later Theo will not eat it.
“Yes, I know you're okay. What I want to know is the development of your relationship with Theo. At least the news you want to hear is the news that will make you happy.”
Opening one by one the structure of the bushel, Laura could only exhale long breaths. If asked, he was actually offended by his mother-in-law's question, but what was her strength. Denying powerless. He could only strengthen his heart to be patient.
It's not that Laura just let the state of the household like this. He has tried with all his effort. But what to say, maybe fate has not been on his side.
Like last night, he had everything ready for Theo. He had bought minimal clothes, he had even dressed up pretty just for the sake of pleasing Theo. She has also been looking for references from various sources on how to seduce her husband. The goal is only one, which is to invite Theo to prank the mattress together to have a baby.
However, for the umpteenth time the moment was missed. Laura also realized, in recent months, in addition to peeping and hugging, Theo has rarely touched it again.
“You've checked with your doctor, right?” ask Lely.
Laura let out a long sigh, exhaling it slowly for the sake of shedding the tightness in the chest. He was about to answer Lely's question when suddenly the doorbell rang.
“It must be Theo. Quickly open the door,” Lely said.
Laura also took a hasty step towards the door. I can't wait to meet Theo. For a moment he wanted to forget his disappointment to Theo. Maybe Theo has a reason why he didn't come home last night. As a good wife, Laura did not want to think badly of Theo.
“Sayang?” With a face restraining haru, Laura greeted as soon as the door opened.
Theo who was standing in front of the door while his right hand was holding onto the suitcase, commented his smile. Then opened his left arm, grabbing Laura into his arms.
“Sorry yes I did not tell you again if I came home this morning,” Theo said after anchoring a kiss on Laura's crown.
Laura nodded. Then break away from the embrace. One kiss and warm embrace of Theo was enough to calm his heart.
“Oh yes, have you eaten? There's a Mom inside.”
Theo did not answer. His eyes glanced into the house. From the look on his face, the man looked like he was anxious.
“Mother bring your favorite chicken opor. Are you the one who asked?”
Theo just smiled. “You yourself have eaten?”
Laura shakes. “Pawn you.” With his promise he said.
“Then we eat together yuk.”
Laura nodded. Joining each other towards the dining room. One of Theo's other hands was groping the suitcase.
“Good morning, Mom. Mom been a long time?” theo asked Lely, kissing the back of his hand.
“Lumayan. Oh yeah, I brought your favorite chicken opor. Come, spit eaten.” While pulling Theo's arm, take him to the dinner table. Theo's hand grip on Laura's wrist was automatically released. The mother and son walked first, catching up with Laura behind him.
Laura is Theo's wife, but Lely is seen more enthusiastically serving Theo at the dinner table as soon as Theo takes a seat. Lely spooned the rice onto Theo's dinner plate, following his side dish. His face looks bright.
“Ra, get me a drink for Theo,” Lely said.
Laura just sat herself down. He was about to scoop up the rice when Lely ordered it. He hurried to his feet, going to the kitchen.
“Oh yes, Ra. Please make me warm tea,” Pinta Lely.
Laura assented. It is not good to refuse the orders of the in-laws. Moreover, it is her duty to serve her husband.
Laura Sudan finished taking a glass of water for Theo and had already made a cup of warm tea for Lely. He was going to take her to the dining table. However, Lely's audible remark stopped his steps all of a sudden.
“Why don't you just divorce Laura. Keep looking for other women who are healthier, more fertile I mean. You're handsome, well established again. I'm sure you can still get more women than Laura. It's been five years, Theo. Laura is not pregnant yet. I suspect, lest Laura was barren.”
Indeed Lely said with his tone down. But Laura's ears were not deaf enough to catch the sound frequency waves. Laura was surprised, so the tray in her hand slipped out involuntarily. It gave rise to a noise that shocked Theo and Lely.
“Laura?”
