High School Soldier

High School Soldier
Target 1's

Nio's eyes were somewhat shaky, when he realized that the comrade's forces did not have enough manpower to deal with the entire army the Alliance had sent. Taking off his combat helmet, Nio pulled out the sword from the sheath attached to the transport vest, and put a magazine on his pistol. The heat of the battlefield was absorbed into his body, the two grasping hands warming the hilt of the sword that had previously cooled.

The least he could do was fight alone, and force himself to keep smiling after getting a painful grueling victory.

“Supposedly they check if someone is behind or not.”

Nio muttered in annoyance to his subordinates who left him in the middle of the burning village, while the enemy was still wandering here. Then, a single shot from his 10mm pistol took the life of an Alliance armored infantry commander, who was trying to decapitate his head.

Nio's hand jolted backwards as it absorbed the recoil from the gun, and the tip of the gun that was still emitting smoke seemed to waver. He is weak when alone, despite being known as the best High School Warrior who fights in this fantasy world.

When carrying out ordinary tasks, Nio always checks the completeness of the team, including personnel and trivial things such as whether all members have urinated. The girls and the Silent Killer Demihumans fought the entire Alliance infantry in this burning village, without any orders from their chief. This made the situation very clear, that they would do anything to keep Nio – the most important person for the Guild in the Great War Period later.

Not wanting himself any hassles, Nio called the armored living weapons heavy infantry. They were warriors who fought while applying conventional tactics, such as medieval warfare. Lowering a portable anti-personnel missile in an attempt to destroy the armored infantry, the attack has not yet been able to take the heart of a tight and fragmented infantry formation.

Just showering them with bullets and explosives was the quickest way to finish off that bunch of stupid Alliances.

The Alliance's main weaponry system was its soldiers. The Alliance's infantry threat is at its lowest level, according to modern warfare standards. Their attack power and quality are weak when dealing with other ‘worldly warriors’, but comparable to the Arevelk and Yekirnovo infantry. And when fighting with that Indonesian ally, the Alliance soldiers had no way but to fight as usual, using human wave tactics and turtle formations.

Arevelk, Yekirnovo, and the Alliance's traditional forces were experts in close combat, and now they were in a fierce fight near Girinhi Fortress. The combat abilities of the three were not much different from each other, only one difference affected the combat ability, namely the morale of each soldier.

Two companies of the Alliance's light and heavy infantry were destroyed in a 3-hour battle in front of the main gate of Girinhi Fortress. However, casualties on the part of Yekirnovo and Arevelk increased, with the duration of the battle. However, the Guilds victory request is greater, with the presence of ‘world troops other’. However, asking them for help was not like hope, battles were going on all over the area around Girinhi Fortress.

“Destroy this weak fortress, and get the target!” an Alliance armored infantry commander shouted, avenged by cheers from his soldiers fighting against the Guild.

The Alliance's main threat was not the Guild and Peacekeeping Forces, but the figure that would appear at the end of the Great War Period, the promised Hero of Hope. The threat will be obtained by them, through various efforts, such as various battles that they are increasingly frequent. That powerful weapon will be utilized in the biggest war in both worlds, for the sake of controlling both worlds as well.

However, their chances in the attack against Girinhi Fortress were not favorable. The help of the Heroes will take time, and the way out is to keep fighting.

After coming out of the burning village, Nio and the girls, the Silent Killer, and the Sigiz platoon witnessed the Arevelk and Yekirnovo forces struggling to hold back the Allies trying to break through the main gate of the fort.

Once the target was seen, the entire commander of the Alliance forces moved elsewhere, regardless of Arevelk and Yekirnovo's counterattack.

“That's him! The person who was designated as the Hero of Hope!”

The enemy's movements led to Nio, surprising him and those who had not expected the opponent's goal to change.

Nio realized that even though he had defeated the enemy in the village, despite the burning of the village, the Alliance could change their attack pattern. His face showed a unified look of surprise and nervousness.

When conducting a battle in the fortress, be it a direct battle or a siege, it was common knowledge to deploy the entire army in one big wave in such a way that fellow comrades killing each other could be prevented. And that should have been done by the Alliance after their target had appeared, then attacked the entire army in Girinhi Fortress at once.

The heavy, light infantry, plus a number of ordinary cavalry platoons blocked his path following his subordinates. Which meant, the enemy had split the comrade army in two, and was stuck in the Alliance's attack zone.the enemy's distance was getting closer, allowing Nio to have to rely on the girls, Sigiz Platoon, and the Silent Killer.

If all the enemy forces join, then the army will be in trouble.

Dodging the slash of an enemy infantryman, Nio fired a shot at his opponent's head, then stabbed his chest protected by thin metal armor. The enemy lines were really tight, and he had to find a gap to break through the enemy's encirclement. Several parts of Nio's field uniform were torn, and the sword incision wounds caused by the enemy were created in various places on his body. The pain all over his body made him grimace, but tried until this fight was over.

“You are now the target of the Alliance, My Lord. They'll keep fighting until you're exhausted, then catch you.”

Hevaz flew over the heads of the Alliance forces, decapitating one by one the heads of the opposing army until the number could not be counted on the fingers. He shouted those words to Nio who looked almost exhausted.

Nio's eyes narrowed, and his mouth smiled wryly when he realized that he was an important ‘target’ for the enemy. He judged the enemy considered him to be of great value, rather than those he knew considering himself. The enemy chased after him, to become a living weapon or to make him like the Heroes of the Alliance.

“I can't beat them ..”

His former lover and best friend forced the enemy to fight alongside them, and killed many of his comrades in the Alliance's first major raid in recorded history. The formation of a young army is an additional force to suppress the enemy, without the intention of sacrificing a lot of blood of the teenagers.

But, Nio could sense that the enemy's goal was really to take him. The gazes of all the enemies were on him now.

This war may not only serve as a stage show of who is strong and who can then rule, as well as the weak who deserve to be oppressed and defeated.

“What?!” suddenly Nio's countenance changed, and felt something that had tremendous power eyeing him. The figure that was once close to him, yet now turned dark and filled with anger.

“I will defeat all enemies ..”

Maybe it's cool words and spoken by the main characters of novels and action films, but it makes Nio wonder if he can do it despite getting various support.

His tone was the same as his feelings, fearing the ‘it’ thing repeated again.

His right bionic hand held a sword and a gun in his left hand, and was able to create threats even before the two weapons were shown their original function as lifeloots.

“Mr Nio, I feel something very bad,” said Hevaz anxiously.

“What do you feel, His Holiness Hevaz,” Ebal asked, but Hevaz still closed his eyes, to ascertain whether his guess was correct or missed.

“Like the strength of one of the Heroes belonging to the Alliance, yet very gloomy. As Mr. Nio had,” Hevaz said the end of the sentence in a soft tone of voice, praying that some of his words would not be heard by his master.

Withstanding the invasion of dozens of Alliance infantry, Sigiz asked Nio, “What retreat is a good choice?”

Everyone turned towards him, but the action Nio showed was still in the form of resistance against his enemies. He had to finish his goal, or this fight ended him.

The sky was overcast, and black and gray clouds moved, accompanied by a medium wind, and could blow away dust and dry leaves. The banner of the Guild and Alliance that had become dirty and torn, as well as some parts of the fortress that had been crushed into chunks of stone were clearly visible.

The flow of blood, the sound of the twang of the two metals as well as the explosion from the bombardment shook the hearts, making the minds of the entire fighter mix. Against a gray background, the battle at Girinhi Fortress was like the Alliance's first major raid against the TNI Expeditionary Force, according to Nio.

However, Nio still tried to hold fast to his various fighting goals, starting with defeating all enemies in this battle. That includes leaders of Alliance member states, nobles, and opposing soldiers who have low fighting spirit, as well as all enemies of Indonesia.

Several paths of dark red light were visible in the sky, and streaked in a parabolic trajectory.

“All warriors, temporary retreat!” a number of Alliance commanders shouted that line, and the soldiers moved towards the forest in a crowd.

Nio had seen the impact of that red light pathway, which made many casualties on the TNI's side on the Alliance's first raid, which caused the defense to be smashed to pieces.

“Descending from this place, everyone! Fast!”

The Silent Assassins jumped up, the girls ran fast, and some of the Arevelk and Yekirnovo troops moved as fast as they could to get away from the impact area of the red light path that was darting down towards them.

Was it his warrior instinct or experience that he had seen Artillery Magic attacks? Whatever it was, the attack forced Nio to jump in order to save himself from the impact of the Magic Artillery collision. At mach-5 speeds, the lacing of the light trails produces a kinetic-like impact. The shockwave that blasted the ground and stone in all directions in high speed, devouring the lifeless bodies of the Alliance soldiers and the Guild contingents of Arevelk and Yekirnovo, ate the lifeless bodies of the Alliance's soldiers and, creating six five-meter deep craters that smolder like meteorites.

The area of the meadow turned charred in the blink of an eye.

The Magic Artillery explosion was extremely loud, and Nio was confident the main battle tank would be destroyed if it was hit by such a magical attack. Thick black smoke covered most of the open area on the north side of the fortress, reducing its range of sight.

Fascinated by the results of the enemy's magic attack, Nio himself nearly failed to save himself from the effective radius of the devastating explosion. But he was injured in some parts. Some of the bandages were torn, revealing burns that had not fully healed. His field uniform was tainted by the ground and the color was black.

The deadly attack caught the attention of the 002nd Aid Company which was struggling to clear the rest of the enemy rifle cavalry, the combined cavalry battalion trying to retreat from the thousands of Alliance rifle cavalry, and the unfinished 12th Team tackled the invasion of the opponent's trained monsters.

Nio used his sword as a stick to help him stand up, he had already lost a lot of strength. He won't answer “I'm okay, don't worry about me!” if anyone asks with such a reply.

“Your always careless fighting style, will get you killed if you let your guard down!”

The scorn that Nio had heard so many times that it made him familiar echoed in Nio's ears, making him immediately turn to the source of the voice.

Walking through the puff of black smoke, a Rio walked towards the injured Nio, with thousands of soldiers behind him. Staring at the lowly weak Nio, he uttered the words of a spell that caused his rifle to glow white.

Nio smiled after seeing the old comrade again after a long time apart, and as a final smile before his best friend killed him.

Olog note: for the next episode, I will rename Nio with ‘Candranala’, because his name with Rio is similar, so I am afraid if the reader misreads. The renaming was only temporary, and it would return to normal after Nio's battle against Rio ended.
