[Lisa P.O.V]
My name is Lisa, a D-medicated adventurer with a group called the 'Jade Tribe' which consists of three people. Our group is not beginners or even the strongest adventurers among the other adventurers. Only a small group of adventurers with enough strength to survive and not die like over-enthusiastic rookies who were blinded by glory in addition to earning Coins.
Speaking of rankings, there are several stages rated by adventurer guilds. Starting from F rank which usually consists of beginners who are just starting up to S rank which consists of professional adventurers who have strength and a lot of experience in their pocket.
Today the Jade Tribe decided to take on the mission for obvious reasons. We need Coins to meet our needs, so our leader Pete, a frontline fighter, decides to take on a rather high-paying mission, and of course that suits the abilities of our group.
The mission was to defeat a group of goblins who had attacked the farming village. In his report, these goblins had killed their cattle. Fortunately there were no other casualties other than livestock, yet it still unsettled the villagers. They were afraid that if their cattle ran out, the goblins would start abducting the villagers.
From the difficulty level of this mission it is not too difficult because goblins are relatively weak. But behind that weakness, the goblins have an advantage that is their number. It is rare for goblins to attack alone because goblins are usually in groups. According to the mission explanation we took, although there is no exact detail of how many there are, there are at least thirty of them.
"Don't until the goblins surround us, it will be troublesome with their numbers. If we get stuck, it's the end for us. Remember to look after each other's backs."
Pete said as we approached the forest area, the place where the goblin nest was located according to reports.
"Roger boss!"
Gill said he was a reliable archer who had experience as a hunter in his native village before deciding to become an adventurer.
"According to reports, their nest is not far from here. Can you track down their nest, Gill?"
I asked Gill as she was watching her surroundings for clues.
"Valued from their small footprints with a few broken branches and grasses that had been trampled. We're on the right track, but..."
"But what?"
I asked out of curiosity.
"It looks like our opponent isn't just a goblin."
Gill said as she continued to pay attention to the available clues.
"Are you sure?" Ask Pete.
"Yes, judging by the size of the footprints here," Gill said as he pointed at the footprints he found. "There's one Orc leading this bunch of goblins."
"Are we leaving the mission?"
I asked with worry. Orcs are bad news for our group, physically Orcs are muscle giants that are twice the size of humans. It is not uncommon for our class adventurer group to die because of the terrifying brutal power of Orcs.
"We will continue the mission. If it was just one, I could restrain and distract the monster from me. But by the time it arrives, I want you to bombard the monster with your magic and arrows, it will work and if not, we will retreat."
Pete suggested and we all agreed and kept track of these monsters. It took us about ten minutes to find this monster nest and fortunately no Orcs were seen.
"Lisa, please."
Pete said as we hid in the bushes. I nodded and used the [Fireball] spell to burn their nest. These loathsome little green monsters panicked as their home and friends burned down and right then and there, qPete came out from the bushes to slash the approaching goblin with his sword.
"More than I expected."
Gill said as she fired one by one at the goblins who approached Pete to avoid encircling him.
"Isn't that good news?"
I said while giving reinforcement magic to Pete.
"That worries me."
"Hey! Focus up! Stop talking and start working!"
Pete shouted as he was attacked by three goblins at once. Fortunately his skills as a fighter kept him afloat, plus the iron armor Pete wore reduced the damage he received, if it was leather armor like the one Gill was wearing, I'm sure the rusty sword this monster is carrying will hurt him.
"Heal!"
I shouted while casting a healing spell towards Pete. While Gill showered the goblins with his bow.
THE BANG!!
The sound of thunder surprised us.
"What's that sound?!"
"I don't know! But it's obviously not from monsters."
Gill said, still shooting at the remaining goblins.
THE BANG!!
THE BANG!! THE BANG!!
The voice sounded again and it seemed like the goblins lost their focus for a moment upon hearing the voice.
"Lisa! Your turn!"
Pete shouted as he rolled aside and managed to gather the last four goblins in one place.
"Fireball!"
I said, the spell has been chanted and the rest of the goblins have burned to death. I heaved a sigh of relief, but also had fear and curiosity at the same time when I heard the foreign voice once again.
"Good work, guys."
Pete said as he walked closer, it was a fierce battle for us and luckily no one died. Even though Pete was the one who received a lot of damage, it was still a good thing because there were no serious injuries.
"Should we investigate the voice?"
Gill said as I chanted a healing spell on Pete.
"You know? Just in case, just reconnaissance and if we are unable to fight, we will retreat and report it back to the guild."
Gill added, Pete on the other hand thought about the idea for a moment before nodding.
"Well, we'll investigate, but before that, the task awaits you, Gill."
Pete said as he pointed at the pile of corpses behind his back. Gill simply sighed and did his job, cutting off the goblin ears or what was left of their corpses as proof of completion of the mission. It was not uncommon for a rather intelligent monster like a goblin to have valuable items in their nest and that would be an additional coin for them, he said, like the swords they wear if we can polish and reassemble them, it will be a decent merchandise. But under no circumstances was it a problem, the blacksmith always accepted it only to be melted back and we got the coins as payment. Although not much but it would be a decent Coin addition.
After Gill's task was completed, we proceeded to investigate where the alien voice came from. After walking for a while we saw three Orcs in the open field who seemed interested in the foreign voice. When we were lurking behind the bushes I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
There was a man running with three goblins chasing after him. The man was wearing nice clothes. A long, uncoupled coat, a nice, clean red shirt, he also wears a fedora hat. Not only that, her shoes were also shiny and she also wore black gloves and carried something she did not know about. The appearance of a noble if his clothes were any indication. But what are the nobles doing here?
"HEY LOOKOUT!"
Pete shouted as the man subconsciously approached the Orc who was ready to make it bloody pulp. Fortunately the man dodged in time by rolling over to the side, avoiding the baton that the Orc swung.
But something surprising happened.
The man pointed a strange object towards the head of the Orc that attacked him and...
THE BANG!!
The voice came back and apparently, it was this man who produced the sound. Not only that, it turned out that this man also easily smashed the head of the Orc with a strange object he was carrying.
"Gill, do you know what that guy was using?"
I asked Gill and she shook her head.
"No, I don't. But more importantly, we need to save him. Fighting two Orcs at once with three goblins chasing isn't easy."
"Gill's right. Let's help this guy."
I nodded and Gill pulled his bow, aiming for one of the goblins chasing after the man.
"BACK OFF!"
Shouted Gill as he released his arrow and managed to kill one of the goblins. Not wanting to miss, I chanted a Fireball spell to burn the goblin alive while Pete ran into the battlefield.
What surprised me back was that the man could take down another Orc that attacked him as the Orc's attention was distracted for a moment from seeing his goblin friends burn to death.
I could see the man smiling from where I was standing. He re-directed his weapon and successive sounds of thunder rang out. The moment the voice stopped, the only remaining Orc fell backward and died with a bloody stomach.
'Could it be magic? What magic did he use? I've never seen that before.'
I thought as the man did a little attraction with his gun.
