...****************...
A thorough investigation of the island took more than three days.
During that time, Cryll would only stop when he wanted to rest. Most of his time was spent exploring the entire island.
It could have been faster, but too many parts had collapsed, so some of the roads leading underground were blocked, and Cryll had to move everything carefully so that the damage would not get worse.
Finally, after the investigation, he came to know a few things.
Most obviously, the underground structure of the island is very large. It is too big for this island.
Cryll assumes that the enemy side is using some kind of spatial magic to expand the space underground.
There was some kind of special place that looked like a prison, but Cryll couldn't find anything there because the place had suffered such severe damage.
It was getting dark, and Cryll was getting ready in the place he had made to rest.
His resting place turned the rubble of the building into a wall and a roof, while he found some of the camping gear his group had used before.
After going through these three days, she realized that having Noelle on an adventure trip was a luxury.
Noelle had a spatial warehouse that could hold just as much space as anything, so they did not need to carry much on their backs. Meanwhile, Cryll could only carry a minimal amount of equipment, and set up other supplies somehow.
Fortunately, the robe that Chloe gave him was able to protect him from the rain and the scorching sun, so he could minimize the use of time to dry himself and rest.
Cryll lit the lantern he had brought from the ruins, and began to sit on a pedestal made only of knitted straw.
In this quest, he was several times about to give up. However, given how everyone in the house so hung up hope on her, Cryll's tiredness disappeared.
She remembered Olivia's always grim face due to Noelle's absence, and she also remembered how Stella's expression was so alarming for Olivia's condition. He didn't want anyone to be disappointed in him.
But, there is one other reason that keeps him excited in running the search.
Seeking the whereabouts of his friend.
"Where are you .. Noelle …."
Cryll sighed and looked at the night sky that was beginning to decrease in brightness.
Countless stars scattered in the sky, giving off beautiful flickers of light.
She remembers Noelle saying that she and Olivia loved this scene.
Leaning on the rough surface of the stone, Cryll created a flow of water from magic to fill the cup, and was about to close his eyes for a moment, when—
" …?! "
—A sound appeared out of nowhere, making Cryll instantly grab the Sword Geist activator beside him, and focus his attention on the source of the sound.
After a few seconds of searching, he finally found the source of the voice.
Cryll carefully walked over, and began to look around.
The voice appeared from the first place he checked when he reached the island, and he was sure that there was nothing there.
However, although it was thin, for some reason there was a gray fog covering the surroundings.
"This fog …."
After staying overnight for a few days, Cryll knew very well that the fog would not appear carelessly. Which means, something just happened.
Cryll quickly scanned his surroundings, and found the cause why the fog could suddenly appear.
"So all this time, it's been very close to my place, yeah …."
Unable to hold back the smile on his face, Cryll walked over.
The goal is a faint circle that can only be seen if it receives a certain intensity of light.
Incidentally, tonight the moonlight was brighter than usual, so that the circle that Cryll was aiming for was shining and showing itself.
Related to the sounds and fog that appeared, it was caused by a circle that had inadvertently reacted to the previous Cryll magic energy.
It was a magic circle. Moreover, the size is suitable for one person.
(I don't remember this sigil pattern, but .. I feel familiar with it.)
Cryll tries to remember, and finally comes to his senses. The magic circle was exactly the same as the magic circle that made him teleport into the dungeon.
The magic circle grew even more radiant as the clouds covering the moon slowly disappeared. Until finally, the magic circle was fully active.
Without a second thought, Cryll immediately took all his gear, and jumped into the magic circle.
...****************...
The light died down, and darkness replaced it.
Cryll was already no stranger to this, so he instantly used his magic to create light particles, and tried to sense his surroundings.
Limited movement. Not wrong again, this is exactly the same as the place where it appeared with Noelle and Norman first.
(Then ... how can I get out of here ..)
Cryll plans to do the same thing as he used to, but then the barrier that left him unable to move disappears.
This time a scene he clearly remembered appeared in front of him.
Everything was still dark, and the cottage was as if it was just made with white stripes without any surface texture.
There was still a tree with a human head in the garden section, and Cryll tried hard to ignore it.
Entering into the hut, what greeted him was a room with many monstrous statues.
From here, he only needed to follow his own memories.
...****************...
After many puzzles, Cryll ends up in a place he has never seen before.
Like the inside of an ordinary cave, with many stalactites hanging from the ceiling.
Cryll looked around him in total confusion, before a rumbling sound finally emerged with the detour where he stood.
One by one the stalactites hanging from the ceiling began to fall, and Cryll calmly avoided them all. Shortly after, the tremors stopped, and a single monster figure appeared before Cryll.
The monster was not at all expected. The existence of the creature could not possibly be on land.
How not? The monster that appeared was a giant shark, with rows of canine teeth like saw blades.
Its body length was about six meters, and its one fin alone stretched for almost a full meter.
To Cryll's astonishment, the giant shark appears to be floating through the air, circling quietly as if he doesn't have any problems.
(I remember that this creature should live in water, not air.)
Cryll slightly scrunched his forehead, and he calmly retrieved a rock the size of a grip from the ground.
He played the stone for a moment, then he immediately threw it at the shark that was still flying casually.
The rock hit the shark's head, and its movement stopped. The shark begins to turn its head towards Cryll, showing a strange face that Cryll somehow understands to be a 'sick face'.
A second later, the shark's mouth opened, revealing a terrifying array of fangs both in size and number.
The shark quickly flew towards Cryll, and Cryll by his reflex immediately jumped to the side, making the shark crash into the wall right behind where he was standing before.
"I shouldn't bother him, yeah …."
There is no time to regret. Cryll immediately jumped up, fired the anchor hook he had made with Noelle into one of the stalactites, and pulled it back until the stalactite fell.
The fall of the stalactite was in line with what Cryll had planned. The position is right above the shark that started moving, and hit the shark's head until the stalactite was destroyed.
The shark only shuddered for a moment, and Cryll jumped back and fired his hook anchor at another stalactite, but it looked like the shark had a fast learning ability.
Nimble, the shark flew through the air and avoided the rain of stalactites that Cryll caused, to make Cryll himself surprised by his learning ability.
The field where he fought was a cave with many stalactites and stalagmites. This is not a suitable place for a fight with such broad and free movement as Cryll uses.
If he had a telekinesis technique like Noelle, everything would be easy, but the reality was different now.
The place was covered, so it was impossible to use the lightning power of the Sword Geist. Moreover, from the very beginning Cryll didn't have many weapons, so he had to rely on his own ability in controlling the situation.
After understanding the surrounding terrain, Cryll began to devise a plan.
Tranquility is the thing to take precedence, which is why Cryll does not have time to think about things that are not important.
Highlight his eyes quickly wandered to the route he made, and his body smoothly moved following it.
The total length of the cable chain on the anchor is about two hundred meters. It is flexible, but hard and strong so it is suitable for many situations.
Cryll had already stuck one of his anchors to one part of the wall, and he kept moving with the cable chain outstretched.
The shark continues to chase him, and Cryll realizes that the shark's learning ability is not to the extent he expected. It is lower.
Cryll moved through the stalagmite sidelines on the floor, and finally reached the end point of the route he made.
He paused, and calmly stared at the continuously flying shark darting towards him. Even so, Cryll did nothing.
Until the shark arrived at the right distance, Cryll immediately raised his hand that was tightly grasping his cable chain, and pulled it with all his might until the cable chain stiffened.
Suddenly, the movement of the shark stopped.
The cable chains that Cryll spread across the room have escaped the stalagmites that hooked them up, and are now reining in the air.
"Sorry, man, but I'm busy."
Cryll calmly walked over to the shark that was still floating in the air, and quickly swung its two curved swords.
First the eyes, and then the fins up to the rest of the body. The two Cryll swords smoothly cut through the shark's entire body without leaving any unsightly marks.
Finally, the force that made the shark fly disappeared, and all parts of its body fell scattered to the ground with blood seeping out.
Cryll pulled back the cable chain, and the entire chain of wires scattered about it in a snake-like motion went straight back into the roll tube at his waist.
Now, he stared at every part of the shark's body with hope emanating clearly in his eyes.
"Is the flesh of this creature edible? "
