The Police
Chapter 9's

◈◈◈ 9

Today, Regitta intends to go to the village. He was wearing home clothes, not like he usually wears a shirt and suit. When he was about to enter the car, Fernan came up with his bike.

"Commissioner, where are you going?" Ask Fernan.

"I told you, don't call me commissioner, if we're not at work. I'm going to my mom's house in the village."

"Want you to take me?" Fernan offers services.

Regitta looked thoughtful then nodded.

Fernan drives Regitta's car. The car passed through a bumpy dirt road in the countryside. The coldness of the city of Bandung feels very real in that place.

In pesawahan there are many farmers who are planting rice. Fernan parked his car in a large field. Regitta passed through the farm fields with Fernan following her in the back.

He saw the little house across there. It was his mother's house. His hand knocked on the door, there was no answer.

"Is it possible to come out?" Fernan asked as he tightened his jacket.

"Of course." Again the girl knocked.

"Mother Hiran, look, your daughter the policeman came to visit you!"

Regitta and Fernan turned their heads towards the pesawahan. He saw the farmers looking at him, including his mother.

Regitta smiled longingly.

Hiran cleaned his hands and feet in the back well. Regitta was waiting for him inside.

Hiran brought some jars of typical rural food in Bandung and sweet warm tea for his daughter and Fernan.

"Mom, why don't you come with me to town?" Ask Regitta.

"You know what else, son. I can't leave our fields and land."

Fernan felt disturbing their moment. "Excuse me, someone's left in the car."

Hiran and Regitta nodded.

"Who's that handsome guy?" Ask Hiran.

"My friend" replied Regitta and lowered her head. "I can't bear to see Mom like this."

Hiran smiled. "You're a good boy. How's your dad doing?"

Regitta shifted her eyes. "I don't want to talk about that guy."

"Don't do that, he's your father anyway."

"I'm more proud to be born out of the womb of a farming mother." Regitta hugged her mother. She cried.

Hiran returned his daughter's embrace. "Is your day so hard, son? Tell me, maybe it'll make you feel better."

Fernan waited for Regitta by leaning on the car. Cellphone's ringing. He immediately raised a call from Bayu.

"Sister Fernan, this afternoon Commissioner General Pradifta will come to our office."

Fernan looked surprised.

Regitta patted Fernan on the shoulder abruptly, leaving the man in shock.

"What's wrong?" Ask Regitta seriously.

"This afternoon Komjen Pradifta will come to our office."

Regitta seemed to think. Hiran waved his hand in the distance. Fernan mangosteen polite. Regitta returned his mother's hand.

During the trip, Regitta seemed to think hard. To the extent that cold sweat was flowing from his forehead.

"I think Tiva's right... Pradif. Unfortunately we don't have much evidence" Regitta said.

"We're gonna catch him? Or waiting for another proof?" Ask Fernan.

"I was also confused, on the other hand, the police chief told me to be careful, because it could be that my accusations were wrong. That would defame the police. Besides, we're dealing with the police. Surely Pradif as a cop knows, what steps we will take against him."

Fernan let out a long breath. "It's only right then that we lose a fight with him, it turns out he's the Commissioner General."

"I'm going crazy because of this case." Regitta leaned back comfortably.

"It looks like Pradif wants to open an old case regarding Jidan Anggara's death" Fernan said.

Regitta. "No, if he wants to reopen his father's case, he can do it himself. He's a cop. Why would he kill? Maybe he wanted to take revenge on his father's colleagues who were less responsible for his father's safety at that time. He wants to hoard the case of Jidan Anggara and the death of his colleagues at once."

Fernan seemed to think. "In that case, we will reopen the case of Jidan Anggara, so that Pradif stops killing."

Regitta's racking her brain. "I have to talk to the police chief first. The case of Jidan Anggara happened before I became Commissioner here. It's uncomfortable if I mess up old files."

"Well, I think it would be better to talk about it later, you should feel happy, after meeting your mother."

Regitta glanced at Fernan. "Yes." Yeah."

Seeing a parcel in the back seat, Fernan asked, "That's from your mother?"

"Yes, for both of us."

Both of Fernan's cheeks heated up, when Regitta said, 'We'.

"My mother is a girl from a family of farmers, because beautiful, a businessman proposed to her. He was my father. Everything went well, before there was a fucking woman who brainwashed my father."

Fernan was sad to hear that. "Life knows you, only this time you tell me."

Regitta smiled. "We don't have time to talk personal. Although we talk often, what we're talking about is definitely another case, another case."

Fernan laughs. "We should date and tell her everything."

Regitta looked at Fernan. The man cursed his words.

"Sorry, I...."

"Where will you take me on a date?" Cut Regitta while smiling amusedly.

"After the case is over, I'll tell you" Fernan replied.

Regitta smiled. "Promise, yes."

Fernan laughs. "Yes, Gitta."
