The Police

The Police
Chapter 16's

After the trial was over, Tiva and Pradif passed.

"You were so cool earlier," Tiva said with a small chuckle.

Pradif looked at Tiva. "I'm not cool, I'm handsome. Someone told me that."

Tiva hits Pradif's arm.

Regitta approached them. "Komjen, you reneged on your promise."

Pradif and Tiva looked over.

"I've testified, your case is over, right? I'll take care of my own case." Pradif folded his hands in front of his chest.

"My case is the death of 4 policemen plus Jidan's case. If you want to open Robi's case, it means my case can't be closed, I have to investigate the case as well" Regitta said.

"Well, shall we investigate together, or each?" Ask Pradif.

Fernan suddenly appeared and hoarded, "You don't want to investigate Mr. Robi's case. You want to chase down gangsters and arrest them. You think you're gonna make it?"

"Why indeed? I once broke into their base and arrested some of its members."

Fernan again said, "That you catch is only a small part of them."

Pradif. "You know a lot about them, huh?"

Fernan and Pradif stared at each other with indecipherable expressions.

Regitta cleared her throat making their gazes stop.

Fernan pulled Regitta's hand. "Come, go."

Pradif and Tiva saw them. Fernan's steps came to a halt and turned to Tiva. "You're not coming, Tiva?"

Tiva.

Fernan continued his steps.

Fernan's car stopped in the courtyard of the mansion. He came out with his coat.

Fernanda was born into a large Mahali family. Since his childhood he wanted to become a police officer, even though his father forbade. Most of the Mahali family are entrepreneurs, some are involved in politics, and the entertainment world.

Perhaps you could say Fernan is the only Mahali man who became a police officer.

"Home home?" Ask Mrs Mahali.

"Yes, Ma. Where's papa?"

"Tumben's looking for her."

"There's something I want to talk to you about."

"This evening, papa's home."

Tiva and Pradif are trying to find information about San Cortez.

"It's not Cortez that's a Spanish clan, is it? Why live in Singapore and speak Indonesian?" Ask Tiva.

Pradif put his shoulder out. "Maybe he was of mixed blood, because the fox gang was basically born in Singapore."

"How long will it take?" Ask Tiva.

Pradif seemed to think. "Sunday."

Fernan sat next to his father.

"You want to ask for help from me?" Ask Mr. Mahali.

"I want information about the fox gang that San Cortez leads."

Mr. Mahali grieves. "Didn't the cops have more information, why are you asking me?"

"Because you've worked with him."

"San Cortez has a lot of trust. He did not appear directly in front of his men, nor his comrades in the dark world. He is hidden. If anyone claims to be him, it must be someone else."

Fernan digested his father's speech. "Then what should I do, Dad? A lot of cops are killed because of them."

Mahali looked at his son. "You're already part of the police, so do what you're supposed to do."

Fernan looked at his father who was leaving.

The next day, Regitta smoked again. This time Fernan also smoked.

"Tiva where is it? Did he join the police department?" Ask Regitta.

"I don't know. Yesterday I tried to call him, but he didn't pick up."

"What are we gonna do now? Comrade General Pradif got us stuck."

Fernan threw his cigarette butts. "We'll just solve this case. Who caught San Cortez first, us or them."

Regitta nodded.

Pradif sees Tiva seriously choosing a weapon. "Why did you choose to do this mission with me? Aren't you in the right place?"

Tiva. "You told Commissioner Regitta, you're the same. I think I understand what you're talking about."

Pradif.

"My reason is. We're the same, our father died by that goddamn gangster. If I stay in Commissioner Regitta's office forever, I'm not sure if we'll catch the Cortez. While with you, I'm sure, because the wounds we have are the same."

Pradif digesting Tiva's speech. "I've opened Robi's case in front of the judge, Regitta and Fernan certainly would not want to have to solve this case, because they have handled the death case of 3 police officers before. So, still you can handle this case with them, not with me. Do you have any other motives?"

Fernan's face was reflected in Tiva's mind. "Okay, I'm not sure about them."

"Why don't you trust your own partner? As cops, you should all trust each other."

Tiva looked resentfully at Pradif. "You know, me and them disagree, they want to close the case, even though Om Robi was killed. If I can be honest, they won't deal with gangsters!"

Finally, Pradif was silent.

"Aren't you willing to cooperate with me, so you're asking questions like that?" Tanya Tiva investigates.

"I just don't want to harm you."

Tiva rolled his eyeballs. "Even though I die, no one will look for me, my parents are gone."

Silent.

"Why are you worried about me?" Ask Tiva.

"You are a child" answered Pradif then passed.
