The Necromancers

The Necromancers
Ch. 40.8:Betting and Freedom (8)

Inside the long-abandoned ruins, the entire army was leaning back and sitting in several places while preparing the supplies they had brought before.

"Are there still low-level demons around?"

"none. Everything is done."

"Thank God."

A mohawk-haired man in dark brown, his face facing the partially collapsed roof ceiling revealed a small glow from behind the sidelines of the building.

For him, the resistance made between the Royal Knight troops he brought with the demon army went smoothly. There were no signs of mid-level demons appearing nor high-level demons like noble demons and royal demons, they were none in the ruins.

"I hope we can finish it quickly huh."

Hearing the words of one of his colleagues who faced the depths of the ruins, the brown-haired mohawk man remembered the figure of his friend who was carrying out a task that was not too easy and difficult.

The task was not only to investigate about the mining in Elforia Village, but there was also the possibility of other missions such as the evaluation of the villagers having to be done if the demon that looked was a high-level demon.

So, Kanae hopes that her friend can return safely as long as she goes on a mission without getting hurt.

Although he hated his attitude and words that sounded nothing like a knight, Kanae still respected him and considered him to be his close friend during the few years they spent together.

Day after day, month after month, Kanae who had repeatedly carried out the mission unharmed and lost her comrades was going back and forth in the General Hall of the Eruguard Kingdom that had no one in it.

His mind that constantly thinks about the condition of his best friend can never be forgotten, both about the safety of the villagers, the safety of his colleagues, and the safety of him who carries out his mission, he said, Kanae still doesn't know about his whereabouts.

Every time Kanae entered the Training Camp, she was reminded of the basic moves her best friend made in swinging a sword at the armour dolls available on the right side of the camp.

His movements were fairly ordinary but with a few extra moves, Kanae could only smile at his constant memory recalling the figure of his best friend training more vigorously and diligently than the other knights in the Warrior Training Camp.

Five years later, Kanae, who is taking a few weeks off, often sits near the main gate post while gazing into the distance in the forest waiting for the arrival of someone she expected.

"That's..."

In the distance on the path, both figures were seen in the distance slowly approaching towards the main gate of Farihiora City.

As the two figures drew closer, Kanae looked familiar with one of the figures she had assumed to be her best friend, Veru who was carrying one of the young men whose body was covered by a long dark brown blanket, he was silent for a moment.

Why did he bring the young man? Don't tell me that...

Various bad thoughts flashed through his mind but were dismissed by Kanae before she learned of the true events through the mouth of her own best friend, Veru.

"Yo, Kanae, how are you?"

"I'm as good and healthy as ever. How are you?"

Looking at Kanae who turned her gaze to the figure of the young man standing beside Veru, Veru understood her gaze.

"He was one of the people I saved."

"One person? Don't tell..."

"Yes, the Elforia Village has been completely destroyed by the demons and the horde of monsters that attacked it."

Her expression that initially looked happy and smiling turned sad as Kanae watched her lips turn curled downwards.

Not only Veru, the figure of the young man looks upset over what happened to Elforia Village, the village where he was born.

Seen from her tightly clenched arms on the brown blanket that wrapped her body, her expression that was upset and angry over something that happened, as well as her bitten lips were clearly visible to Kanae.

"I'm sorry, I can't talk to you for long because I want to enroll this kid in the city because he's the only survivor saved."

"Good."

Looking at the friend and the young man away from where he was, Kanae was still silent with many questions about what really happened.

What he saw, felt, and did during the mission in Elforia Village, Kanae was not sure about the actions performed by her best friend, Veru.

The only thing he expected was that he had lost a lot of troops and his pride as a leader because he was negligent in carrying out his mission. That was why he deliberately did not ask Veru because he knew his friend would not answer him.

"Initially you brought the young man in because I thought he was just a victim of the cruelty committed by the devil, but apparently I was wrong."

Grasping the jet black sword firmly, resentment and resentment enveloped Kanae's feelings as she recalled it.

A memory of him and his army being trapped by two currently defunct demons. The two demons told her that she had been betrayed by her best friend. A person saved by his friend is the culprit of his mistake, he is the leader of the undercover demon army, which is, as well as people seem to be unfit for life explained by the white-haired man with his dashing and muscular body.

"Has that young man saved you?"

"Yes, I owe him."

"Why? Why do people seem to save people? Does he not think his actions are naive?"

"Naif? She's not as naive as you."

"....."

Furrowing her brows at the incomprehensible words, Kanae narrowed her eyes at Veru as if asking for an explanation to her directly.

"He always saves people by his own ability, but at least he's not swallowed by the darkness as much as you are."

"Just like me?"

"Yes." Yeah."

Pondering for a moment at Veru's words, Kanae knew of the consequences she was facing now. Surrendering herself to the darkness made her stronger and more powerful than before, but on the other hand Kanae's heart grew darker and it was difficult to determine which was right and wrong.

"We're going through this conversation."

"Yes, you're right."

One of Veru's arms holding the back took out a long, thin piece of paper inscribed with an ancient letter inside that said 'explosion'.

Kanae who stuck the sword into the ground surface, the entire ground cracked and shattered in an instant. Not wasting any chance, gravity floated on some chunks of rock in the air which Kanae kicked many times towards Veru.

"....."

Smiling at his horrible actions, Veru did not feel afraid of his attack. He who remained silent let the chunks of stone approach him.

Now!

A piece of paper that was thrown and stuck to one of the boulders that were nearby for about a few meters, Veru jumped away from where he was.

The explosion sounded so loud. The soaring black smoke visible at night made the two of them look at each other with a watchful expression.

"I admit you still have a trick smart enough to use on me, but..."

In the blink of an eye, Kanae instantly disappeared from where Veru had seen in the distance. Checking into the surroundings, there were no signs of Kanae's whereabouts but only the silent sounds that existed around the forest where she was.

"You're not good enough at reading where I am."

"....."

Trang!

Just when shadows and whispers sounded from behind, Veru's instincts put down the dagger she had on her left arm holding her back without turning around.

"Heh. You really think that I can't find the air of your existence huh."

This sound....

Kanae quickly pushed her sword making Veru twist her body and keep her distance.

The Regard POV

"You..."

"What's up, Uncle Kanae?"

In front of me, a man in black armor looked confused at the voice of a different me.

Of course I can understand the confusion.

First, I used Uncle Veru's body to finish this as soon as possible so that he wouldn't delay it any longer. Second, I don't know if he intends to finish off Uncle Kanae as his best friend or not. Third, I fear that he will cease to exist when his supply is depleted.

It was really a bad choice to keep a close eye on him in the distance.

"Why are you in her body?"

"Why did you say? Simple."

Activating [High Acceleration] and appearing behind him with the black sword I managed to make, Uncle Kanae dodged my slash.

"I did it so he wouldn't get hurt."

"Hurt?"

"Yes. Betrayed by yourself and taken advantage of by your own partner, shouldn't you be ashamed?"

"Thy? I've never done anything, on the contrary, it's all his fault because he won't come straight with me."

Jumping straight to the blind spot.

Slash after slash he did. Starting from the slash intending to target one of my legs, I jumped up and held it down with the black sword as hard as I could. A second slash was done to the stomach which could be avoided by leaning my body to the left and fending it off. The third slash that was done to my head, I brushed off the slash using one of the black thin blades that I managed to form easily.

"It's very sad. I thought you were better than ever, but you're still as weak as any human being."

"....."

Keep on running amok and do it all!

When he was on a rampage, people would instantly forget the good ways of dealing with his opponent, that was what I liked. But, I can't constantly play with his body all this time so I intend to end it quickly.

Trang!

Fending off his sword and locking his movements with several golden chains appearing on the surface tied him up, I took out some [Imitation Sword] at the back that had been coated by some magic elements within it and mana in large quantities.

"This is what you should call power, Uncle Kanae."

"....."

Reversing his body without looking at him, the sword-by-prick stab of his stomach made a shout sound directly through his voice that shouted my name many times.

I don't care because it's the end.

The end of his struggle for justice, his struggle for finding out the wrong truth which ended up being exploited by darkness and the devil, and his defeat which I had been unable to deny.

Everything is the result that he has to accept.

"You're free now, Uncle."
