The Necromancers

The Necromancers
Ch. 13.2:Readiness of Reita Hiena's Heart

"Hey, can't you make more money than you did all this time?"

"I'm sorry for the helplessness I have."

"Listen to me, son, I know you're weak, but at least try a little bit at the job you have. Do you understand?"

"Yes." Yeah."

Even when I only had an older brother, Sister Daffa was always scolded by the people in Asfa City for her being useless in her work.

They really suck.

Even though I said they were annoying, I couldn't fight them because Sister Daffa always told me not to look for things against them.

"I hope they don't."

"Don't expect that, Reita. They do it because they need money so it's only natural that they scold me."

"But, aren't they overreacting? Brother Daffa did his best for the sake of work but they think we are useless."

When I was angry at the hatred and resentment they had directed at Sister Daffa, she gently rubbed my hair and hugged me tightly.

"I understand the feelings you have, but I want you to grow up without any emotion in you."

Hearing his words, I couldn't do anything.

All I've done is get angry and hate them for their actions. But when I heard Daffa's words, I realized that he better understood the conditions around him.

I'm really a lousy sister.

That's all I've thought about.

"Here's the sheet for you to fill, Reita!"

"Good."

Near me, I saw a figure similar to Sister Daffa.

The figure that looks kind, friendly, and humble towards anyone really amazes me at his attitude during this time in his life.

He is Regard Arthen, a Necromancer who according to the story is hated by mankind. Although people hated him, I thought that he was a little different from the people in the history of the Necromancer in the books my parents had read. His kind, friendly, caring, helpful, easy to socialize, as well as polite mannerism really made him look great than anyone else in the Adventurers Guild Hall.

I admire him because he looks like Brother Daffa.

That's why I want to be an adventurer just like Regard.

"Here we go!"

"Let me check first."

Taking the form paper I gave her, she read it seriously. After reading it, he smiled at me.

"good job. Alright. Let's give it to him."

"Yes." Yeah."

We both approached the reception desk and gave her the form.

"good. Next is the fee of the adventurer registration."

"Yes. Here goes!"

"alright. Next I want him to check his abilities and strength here."

In front of us, a crystal stone the size of a palm made me touch it.

Before I touched it, Regard's hand clasping my hand shocked me at his sudden change in attitude.

"Let's do it, Reita!"

"Good."

Laying down my palm, a crystal emitted a black colored light.

"so apparently. You're just like Mr. Regard, Miss."

"Yes?"

"Yes. Mr. Regard is at the lowest position in Black Adventure so his strength and abilities are just like yours."

"....."

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

I'm starting to understand now.

Regard who was holding my hand, he deliberately suppressed the power I had so as not to be detected by the crystal stone.

If I had not been grasped by him, maybe I would have been at a different level than the adventurer level he had.

"alright. I'll explain everything from the beginning to you, Miss Reita."

Explanation was given directly from the receptionist.

According to the Guild Receptionist, there were three levels that every adventurer had. Starting from Black Adventure to White Adventure is at different levels.

Black Adventure is at the lowest level that every mission taken will get results that are relatively few but easy to complete. Unlike Black Adventure, Colorful Adventure has an improved income.

Not only income, Colorful Adventure also has a mission that is somewhat difficult to difficult in each mission displayed on the board on the second floor.

And the last is White Adventure, which has a high income and difficulty in completing missions can be said to be dangerous so they can lose their lives because of the missions they took before.

"Do you understand, Miss?"

"Yes." Yeah."

"Good."

"Here is the identification and the proof."

Taking out the black cloth and the board inscribed with my name, I placed the black cloth on the left sleeve to make it look like a low-level adventurer.

"Please take the mission if you need it on the mission board."

"good. Thanks for the information, Miss."

"It's okay. We are always happy to serve new people to register as an adventurer."

Finished saying that, me and Regard, we both went out of the Adventurers Guild Hall.

Before we got out, one of us stopped us.

•••••

The Regard POV

"Can you let us through?"

"Get through? Sure do. But instead I want you to hand it over, do you want to do it?"

Handed him?

Ah, so yeah.

I understand the current situation.

This guy wants to take Reita away from me.

To be honest I could have given it to her, but I didn't know the feelings Reita would have with her or with me, the decision was in her hands.

I'm sure he'll reject it.

I knew this was going to happen.

My collar being pulled and lifted by him made it difficult for me to do anything, even I could not set my foot on the ground.

Stop, Reita!

Before she did anything to him, she realized that I gave [Mind Reading] to her so that she would not act rashly so she just kept quiet without doing anything.

Well, that's good. Otherwise, I would be troubled in dealing with the affairs towards the Royal Knights which were difficult to break free easily, despite using insiders like Uncle Veru.

"Take care of me, Weak Adventurer!"

"I can't give it to her because I'm afraid she won't be with you."

Finished saying that to him, he threw me to the right making my body fall.

Damnit. So hurt.

Fortunately before landing, I used [Heal Recovery] so the minor injury had recovered.

The man wearing golden armor on his body approached Reita and held her cheek.

If only I could do something to him, I might have already managed to humiliate him. However I am not sure if this action is really appropriate or not, I can only know that he will take revenge if I humiliate him.

Well, there's nothing I can do so surrender is the right thing.

"Will you be with me, Miss?"

"No way."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." Yeah."

Gazing sharply at the man, I was sure Reita held back the emotions in her from acting rashly.

It could be said that Reita has quite great abilities and strength, but all of that has not been controlled. That's why when he checked his abilities as an adventurer's benchmark, I held his hand to suppress the amount of mana in his body to be undetectable by the stone.

The result was as I expected.

The crystal stone that should be able to read the abilities of everyone who signed up as adventurers, was not able to read anything but to think of Reita as the same as me who was a novice adventurer.

"All right."

Approaching me, he kicked my body many times making me to forcibly hand over Reita using force.

I understand that method. Regardless of the violence committed, people who are victims will be afraid of the pain that is felt to make them give up and follow his words.

But I am different.

No matter how painful the wound on my body was, as long as I used [Heal Recovery], the wound healed easily but in a slow way so that he did not suspect me.

Every time she kicked me, I could feel the aura of anger and emotion overflowing from Reita. Before he vaped everything, I always warned him not to act rashly.

He obeyed. He who was initially angry has returned to subside which means my efforts are running smoothly.

"Sad. It's useless."

As the man grew tired of not getting the results, he left my place and went back to the table where his group was staring at us.

"Are you okay, Regard?"

"Yes, I'm fine."

Drowning the blood from my mouth, I rose up helped by Reita.

"Let's go!"

"Yes." Yeah."

Pretending to be limping, I decided to leave the impression that I was seriously injured by him.

Most of the adventurers were envious of our closeness, but others supported me and blamed the actions that the man had taken on me.

It's very ironic, yes.

I do things to protect the city at night, but those of you who don't like me hit me and get me battered.

Well, this is my destiny as a weakling so I have to accept it.

When we managed to get away, Reita let go of my hand holding her and looked at me with an expression of resentment and hatred.

"Why don't you give it back? Hasn't their actions gone too far?"

"no need. They do that because they envy us."

"Dear?"

"Yes. A few days ago, I brought Shilph and Furuhiora to the Adventurers Guild. That's why they envy me for my closeness to other girls. Especially with your arrival, they become even more resentful of my arrival."

"That-that's...."

"No need to apologize. It's all really common for me to live."

Patting and stroking his head, I realized that what I was doing was wrong.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."

"It's okay.  I want you to do it one more time."

"Eh?"

Holding my hand, she moved it to her hair then stroked my hand gently in her own hair.

I know for the mistakes I made, but at least I want to avoid this so that they do not misunderstand the closeness that is happening to us at this time.

As much as possible I don't want to make them angry.

"Thank you, Regard. Thanks to you, I decided to join you in the journey and adventure that you went on later."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. The kindness and humility that you have are exactly what Sister Daffa belongs to."

Holding onto my chest, no, rather my heart, she smiled sincerely.

I could make sure it was a truly genuine smile without being made up by him to comfort me. Moreover, I had clearly known that her brother, Daffa had a similar past to my attitude in the Adventurer Guild.

"Do you want to accept me?"

"Receive?"

"Yes. As a temporary half-sister, I'd like to call you Kak Regard."

"....."

Isn't this too dangerous?

Had they known that I had done something to her, I did not know if I would have survived unharmed or if I would have died many times by their cruelty.

I hope they understand later.

"alright. But, I don't want you to call me Kak Regard in front of the two of them. Do you understand?"

"Yes." Yeah."

Smiling once again, I stroked and rubbed her hair slowly.

Her fine hair really made me enjoy the sensation of stroking in her head more than my own sister or son in old life.
