53. LECTURER CHEMICAL KILLER


15 Minutes later, the basic chemical clock begins. Niken, Rosa, and Maria hope the basic chemistry clock is empty. But hopefully it will be extinct already when Bu Erda comes on time. "Yes, ma'am" said Maria


Maria happily left her two best friends still lying in front. Ms. Erda who felt that Maria's answer was not complete where the student who sat up raised his hand to explain.


"For Mom's question, will anyone answer? please raise your hands" said Bu Erda


Chintia raised her hand signalling herself to answer Miss Erda's question.


"I'm Mom" said Chintia


"Yes please Chintia" replied Ms. Erda


Chintia's complete answer was greeted by applause from all students in the class and praise from Bu Erda. Afterwards, Erda asked Niken and Rosa a question.


"For Niken can be explained about ionization energy and for Rosa about electron affinity, the electroneativity will be later I pointed again" said Bu Erda


Niken and Rosa were really clumsy to not be able to answer the question from Ms. Erda. They both just kept quiet and looked down. Ms. Erda who felt Niken and Rosa did not immediately answer the question immediately told her to take the periodic table.


"Well, if you haven't been able to answer because you forgot, now take your periodic table of elements !" resolute Bu Erda


Niken moved to take his SPU table while Rosa was silent because the table had been torn by Niken. Bu Erda saw that Rosa did not bring a table of periodk to rebuke him.


"Rosa, where's your periodic table?" ask Bu Erda angrily


"Torn by Niken Ma'am" answered Rosa

Niken and Rosa did not budge from her position because they did not memorize. Miss Erda who looks upset waiting directly told Niken and Rosa to sit down.


"Alright, you two can sit down and study again and open the book.The next meeting I will still visit you because today you can not answer" said Bu Erda


"Yes Ma'am" answered Niken and Rosa


Niken and Rosa with her clumsy face held back the embarrassment back towards her seat in the back. After Niken and Rosa sat down, Ms. Erda told her students to raise their hands to answer her question. And again Chintia again raised her hand and answered a question from Ms. Erda.


"Please Chintia" said Bu Erda


"Electron affinity is the energy released when an atom receives an electron. The tendency of electron affinity in a group (from top to bottom) is that as the atomic number increases, the electron affinity will get smaller. This is because the greater the atomic radius from top to bottom. So that the atom will be easier to accept electrons.The tendency of electron affinity if in one period (from left to right) is the increasing atomic number, then the electron affinity will be greater. This is because from left to right the atomic radius is getting smaller from left to right so that the atom is getting harder to accept electrons. The price of electron affinity is usually expressed with a negative sign because in the process it is released energy. If the price of electron affinity is getting negative, it means that the electron affinity is getting bigger" Chintia said


"Next, Ionization energy is the energy required to release its outermost electron. The tendency of ionization energy in a group (from top to bottom) is that as the atomic number increases, the ionization energy will get smaller. This is because the greater the atomic radius from top to bottom. So that the force of attraction of the nucleus to the outer electron is getting weaker then the atom will be easier to remove electrons. The tendency of ionization energy if in one period (from left to right) is to increase the atomic number, the ionization energy will be greater. This is because from left to right the atomic radius is getting smaller from left to right so that the attraction of the nucleus to the outermost electron is getting stronger then the more difficult the atom to remove the electron. If the ionization energy is small then the atom easily releases electrons. Conversely, if the ionization energy is large, the atom is difficult to release electrons" Chintia continued


"Last, electronegativity is the ability or tendency of an atom to capture electrons from other atoms in its compounds. The more easily an atom attracts a pair of bonding electrons, the greater the electronegativity of an atom as the electron attraction of the atom gets stronger. Therefore, the electronegativity tendency of an atom will be equal to the electron affinity. In one period (from left to right), the electronegativity will get bigger. If in one group (from top to bottom), electronegativity will be smaller" continued Chintia


Chintia's clear and detailed answer was greeted by cheers and applause from students in the class as well as praise from Bu Erda. While Niken and Rosa could only stare at Chintia in annoyance.
