15. REGRETTING
On the way to the contract, Daniel and Chintia did not talk to each other in the car. Daniel focused on driving and watching the streets. While Chintia herself just daydreamed staring at the car window. Chintia feels she is being punished for breaking messages from her father and mother. Before leaving for Jakarta, Chintia always remembered messages from her father and mother. Chintia has never disavowed all messages from her mother's father except that messages should not go out at night.
Indeed, Chintia regretted his actions, Jakarta according to him was very cruel.But not even three months he wandered in Jakarta, the bitter incident of robbery and captivity has been natural. Now, Chintia considers the bitter incident she experienced was a punishment for breaking messages from her father and mother.
"Father, Mother, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I've been punished for breaking your message." Chintia said
Chintia stared at the window of the car and suddenly mourned the fate that befell her at this time. Daniel who was driving could not bear to see Chintia who kept crying. Daniel feels guilty and regretful for participating in the robbery and confinement on Chintia. Daniel thinks why he knew from the beginning that the girl he was talking about was Chintia, and he did not thwart Martin and Gerry's plans. It was supposed to be before the robbery happened that Daniel could save Chintia.
Daniel felt unable to bear to see Chintia who continued to cry, he was also sad to feel the pain that Chintia felt. Without a second thought, Daniel regretted his actions and apologized to Chintia.
"I beg you not to cry.I regret that I committed the robbery and confinement to you.I'm sorry, I promise I won't hurt you again" said Daniel
"No need to apologize, it's your job and it's your world. I don't care whether you apologize or not to me. for sure I hate thugs like you and I'm disappointed in people who did that to me, but I'm more disappointed in myself" Chintia replied
"Why are you disappointed in yourself ?" ask Daniel
"Before I wandered in Jakarta, Father and Mother gave me a message not to go out at night. I broke the message because of the demand that I work as a bimbel teacher get hours at night. I work because I don't want you and Mom to be burdened by my tuition and living expenses. Now I understand why you and Mom put me out for the night.I've got the penalty and I accept it." chintia answered still sobbing
Daniel did not expect other than beautiful, kind and noble heart turned out Chintia was also an independent and devoted child to parents. Daniel feels more guilty when Chintia blames herself. Without a doubt Daniel wants Chintia to avenge his evil deeds to make Chintia feel calmer.
"I'm sorry to have contributed to robbing and holding you.I'm confused about how to keep you from crying again.I feel even more guilty if you keep crying. you can avenge my evil deeds that I've done to you. I'm sincere if you want to hit me, strangle me or kill me now," Daniel said
"I don't want to do that to you. It doesn't even cross my mind wanting revenge on you. Because I'm not a thug like you. You once told me that evil should not be repaid with evil, but repaid with good.You do not have to worry about me. I do not know you and you are not who I am," Chintia replied
"Can a thug not fall in love with someone?" said Daniel
Chintia was surprised by Daniel's words, and she suddenly feared that Daniel would fall in love with her.
"Everyone has the right to fall in love with someone, but there are a few exceptions." Chintia replied cut off.
"Exception for a thug? yes you are right, I am a bad person who has no right to love and be loved" Daniel said
"Not that, the exception I'm referring to is knowing the limits and situations of someone loved. For example, it is impossible to love someone who has a partner or is already married" Chintia replied
"If a thug like me is worth loving or even being loved by someone?" ask Daniel
"If according to the goons it turns out to be a good person and know the limits and situation of a loved one, it is okay" Chintia replied
Daniel was delighted to get an answer from Chintia. Daniel feels that if he changes himself he has a chance to get love from Chintia.
