Fake Princess

Fake Princess
CHAPTER 10

Devan used to be the topic of bird news, not me. However, no one seems to know that I am not the king's daughter anymore. All eyes were on me as I approached, and after I had passed, whispers began. All of it made my face smolder, but I kept my chin up, tightened my jaw, and walked with Uncle Ronald.

I had just fallen limp as we passed a window facing the main entrance of the palace. As we passed by, I glanced outside to stare at the huge stone trajectory stretching from the gate to the wide staircase in front of the palace door.

At the bottom of the stairs, the king and queen were waiting. At that moment came an elegant carriage drawn by four white horses. The driver pulled the horse's harness to a stop, and a servant came forward to open the carriage door.

A girl got off the train. She was wearing a red dress, and her dark colored hair was draped over her back. The girl moved softly, gracefully, like a deer that had just come out of the forest. He paused for a moment, the king & queen approached him, with arms outstretched. The girl reached out, and I saw her face.

She looks like me, my baby. Then, Diana smiled in response to something the queen said. His smile seemed relaxed, a smile that was often singled out, just because he was happy to do so. In front of the window I folded my own lips, my hand automatically approached my mouth.

Nope. I look like him.

Outside, the king and queen led Diana to the palace door, and they disappeared from view. The car left, leaving the room where the family was originally standing empty. The pain in my chest started to throb again, slowly, but more and more strongly spread from my chest to my entire body. I just got up when Uncle Ronald touched my arm gently.

My carriage is waiting at the palace stables. A simple, clean & practical vehicle, was not at all similar to the gilded carriage carrying the princess. The crate containing my stuff is already tied up at the back.

“ My Lady,” said uncle Ronald, & although my ears were roaring, I could still hear his voice trembling.

“ I'm sorry, I'm really sorry. I don't know, & everything happened too fast for an old man like me. I hope...” Uncle Ronald gulped.

“ And this is for your aunt.” A letter written on thick paper and sealed with the symbol of the king, I accepted it clumsily.

“ Queen, she asked me to tell you ..”

It seems that Uncle Ronald has trouble finding the right word, his eyes full of pity.

“ He will pray for you to the God without a Name every day.”

I imagined, for a moment, the queen kneeling before the altar of her room, as I had seen so often. However, that image was immediately replaced by the sight I saw as she greeted Diana in front of the palace steps, and I was unable to answer because my esophagus was suddenly blocked.

Uncle Ronald shook his head. “ I have a granddaughter your age. He's never been to the palace, but you always remind me of him. Had uncle known it from the beginning, I would have tried to ease your suffering,”. “ Somehow..”.

A small consolation, & part of me wanted to grip it as tightly as possible, but too little, & it was too late. I just turned my face away from Uncle Ronald, not wanting the old man to see my reaction.

“ I think got here first the story.. If you like me, thank you. Don't forget to like, vote, & comment, love spirit.”
