Chapter 9: Overcoming Misadventures

Today, I decided to meet Gray. I told him to meet me at the school cafeteria. There I found Gray, but his face looked very sad. I'm confused what's going on. On the other side was Clarity who looked dizzy looking at Gray. I'm approaching them right away. "Gray, what's wrong?" I asked with worry. Gray didn't answer like he was reluctant to answer my question. "Your friend has a big problem. This will be very influential with your SURE Entertainment competition." Clarity said. What happened to Gray. Why this will affect our race. Gray looked at me with regretful eyes. "Amethyst, I'm actually..." It stopped for a moment. Then suddenly, crying, he said, "I accidentally broke my own guitar!! Huhuhuhuhoo!!" I was shocked to hear his statement. Is the guitar broken?!! Just be right. Gray continued to speak in tears, "I think Clarity is right. I should have replaced my old, worn-out guitar. But I don't want to. Then last night while practicing on guitar with the song 'Diamonds are a girl best friend', suddenly my two guitar strings broke!!!" Okay, I'm starting to panic. How's this?!! Do we have to resign? What should we do?! I'm panicking. I finally tried to calm myself down by sighing.

After being calm enough, I asked Gray to calm down. "Is there a place to borrow guitars at this school? A place you know?" I asked Clarity. Clarity thought for a while, then he said, "There, but it's in the band club and you have to ask for a loan to the DEMO band." Gray who heard the name of the DEMO band immediately asked, "They want to lend no yes?" I then answered Gray's question, "We should try it!!" Gray looked at me in shock. "But we're only first grade kids and DEMO is a band with third grade kids and very talented. I don't think they're gonna lend us the guitar." Even though I didn't know whether to go on loan or not, I somehow had this feeling that I had to fight for this race. I ended up without further ado immediately heading to the band room. Gray realized what I was doing and decided to follow. "You sure about this?" I smiled and replied, "If we don't try we'll never know the answer, right?" Gray looked at me in admiration. We'll go to the band room immediately.

Arriving there, I suddenly heard a quarrel. Gray fearfully said, "Amethyst, it seems like we'd better just go back. They seem to be fighting." I didn't hear Gray's words and eavesdrop. "Good God Amethyst." Gray finally eavesdropped. Inside I heard a voice like this.

"What?!! Just be right. We promised to practice today together and you said that our vocalist was late?!!"

"How is this?!! How can we practice without a vocalist?!!"

"Maybe one of us today can be the vocalist and take Bryan's position for a while."

It looks like they got into a fight because their vocalist named Bryan was late. Suddenly an idea came into my head. "Gray, that's it!! I have an idea!!" "What idea do you have?" I smiled and said, "I'll offer myself as a replacement for their temporary vocalist for this rehearsal. Then, in exchange I'll ask them to lend us the guitar for our race tomorrow." Gray could only gape at my idea. His face also showed a shocked expression. "Are you serious?!!" "Let's try it!" Gray achor just nodded. I knocked on the door of the band room. Soon someone opened it. "Yes, who are you?" I took a breath and said, "Hi, my name is Amethyst. I hear you need a temporary vocalist for your band rehearsal. What if I become your temporary vocalist? Instead, I want you to lend us your guitars." I deliberately made the volume of my voice a little loud to be heard. The person was silent to hear me and said, "Hmm, how is it? Trouble is..." Not finished he spoke suddenly someone behind him approached and said, "Can!! Of course, after all we need it the most now!!" The person who opened the door was shocked and looked back. "Are you sure?! He looks like a 1st grader who just entered this school!! He's still an amateur, Roy!" Turns out the one who allowed me to be the vocalist while was a guy named Roy. "It's okay Tamaki, it's just a practice. He can also train his vocal skills, right?" And it turns out that the one who opened the door was named Tamaki. Eventually Gray and I were allowed to take part in the rehearsal. While Gray chatted with Roy who turned out to be the band's guitarist and idol. I started studying the band's songs and it turned out that they were rock lovers.

Time goes by and I do practice with the DEMO band. On the other hand, Gray encouraged me. This is the first time I've ever sung a rock song. After he finished training, Roy called me. "Hey you!! You're Amethyst, right?" "Oh yeah, it's me!" Roy smiled at me and said, "Yes, you still have a lot of singing practice. But hear your voice today. You could potentially be the vocalist of a rock band." I'm glad to hear that. I know there are still many things in me that have not been honed, but getting compliments that I have great potential from an artist who is already famous enough makes me very happy. Then, he turned to Gray, "You want to be a guitarist, right?" Gray nervously replied, "I-yes that's right." Roy then said, "You played the guitar that was really good. It's just that just like Amethyst, you are people whose talents have not been honed. If you hone your talents well, surely you can become a top artist. I'm sure about that." Gray smiled and was amazed to hear Roy's answer. Suddenly I remembered about the guitar. "Oh yeah, um, brother Roy. Now can we borrow the guitar?" Roy laughed and said, "Of course you can!! Seeing you guys so enthusiastic in training today amazes me! I'll lend you the guitar don't break it." We both bowed down to say thank you. Finally the problem solved. "In this way, we can practice together now." Gray smiled at me while nodding his head. We found a place to practice and we decided to practice in the school garden because it was quiet and beautiful. Once there, we meet Crush and Clarity. "Hi, you? Why are you in the park?" Crush asked me. "We want to train for the SURE Entertainment competition." Crush then felt happy and said, "Okay I will listen to your performance!!" Clarity then added, "It's unexpected that you guys managed to borrow the guitar. I appreciate that. Now, I'd like to hear your lerformance, too." With ambition I said, "Okay, this is the performance from Gray and me. Ready, set, go!!!"
