Birmingham, 1919
Promises

Anne was shocked as Thomas twisted her body and hugged her abruptly along with the loud thud of the firearm.

"Yahoo!!!" yelled Aunt Poly.

The atmosphere of the party that had been warm turned into a riot. Arthur manages to catch the mysterious servant who shoots. Eddy who was in the scene of the crime immediately took the perpetrator and took him to the police station. The bullet made it through Thomas' left arm. Thomas was still able to hold on, he made sure his wife was not hurt in the slightest.

Both of Anne's eyeballs were rounded, a sense of worry assaulting her current feelings. The party broke up, the guests came home while the members of The Blinders combed through the room looking for anything suspicious.

"We have to take her to the doctor!" anne shouted while hugging Thomas.

Thomas shakes. "No," then looked at Arthur and moved to the dining table.

Arthur and Jhonny begin to prepare equipment to retrieve the bullet lodged in Thomas' left arm. Jhonny gave Thomas a bottle of whiskey. William helped by holding Thomas.

"What are you guys going to do?!" anne cried when she saw her husband surrounded by men.

Adda approached Anne. "This is a normal procedure. You need to stay calm!"

Thomas gulps the whiskey then the remaining whiskey from inside the bottle he splashes into the wound and Arthur immediately takes a bullet that is not so deep with simple equipment. "Aaaack!" shout Thomas.

Anne couldn't bear to see it. The procedure is like a child playing doctor, only drinking alcohol as sterilization. But that's what they always do if there are members of The Blinders who are injured, but not too severe. When he finished, Johny wrapped Thomas' wound. Anne immediately took Thomas to their room.

"I want to know the situation" William told Arthur and Jhonny. The men gathered in Thomas's study.

Anne replaced Thomas's clothes. His face was still worried. Only this time did he feel fed up with such a stressful situation. From the beginning if William came home with a wound he was worried, but he was not too scared. But when he first saw Thomas being shot before him, he was really not strong against this. Anne also shed tears while helping Thomas change clothes.

"Hey, hey," Thomas stopped Anne, then hugged her. "I'm fine."

Thomas feels regret for having Anne involved with the stressful life she had been living. "I promise it won't happen again."

Anne let go of her husband's embrace, then looked her husband in the eye. "Please promise it right. You're gonna stop living life like this. Promise me you'll leave your dark life behind. For my sake, for the sake of our child," Anne said as she placed Thomas's right palm on her stomach.

Thomas nodded. "I promise."

Maybe it's time he started leaving all his dark life behind. Realizing that she was already not alone, made her not want to feel the life-threatening tension. She still wants to spend her happy days with Anne and her children.

Eddy saw the man whose face was battered before him. The man had been beaten by Arthur and Jhonny before Eddy managed to do so.

"Who told you to shoot Thomas Scott?" eddy asked, starting to interrogate.

The man threw his face away, not wanting to answer.

"Are you from the Lee Brothers gangster?" asked Eddy again with firm intonation.

"You're new to Birmingham?" said the battered man, who finally spoke after so many questions asked silence.

Eddy was silent still watching the man before him. The man then approached. "You don't know how much Thomas Scott has enemies. The whole of Birmingham knows that. You intend to protect her? You're just like any other cop he bribes."

Eddy leaned his back against the chair. "You're wrong to judge me."
