Studying in Marine Science is not easy. Practicum and study again Physics, Chemistry, Geography. However, Kahar managed to be well known to the lecturers by his hard work and cleverness.
It's also hard to adjust there. Harsh life haunts Kahar's association, which results in Kahar having few friends. Fortunately there was Clara who always accompanied Kahar to study for the last three months, until finally they could complete the midterms well.
The time of three months that passed quickly this fertilizes the relationship Kahar with Clara getting closer. Almost always if there was time, they would both go together, sometimes Zico as a mosquito. This three months Kahar really focused on the lecture and a little forgot about the mystery that his father left behind. Longing for his mother who is now coming to Kahar in the middle of his date with Clara. They sat in the coffee shop, enjoying a cup of hot Gayo coffee and the cupcakes they ordered. They are celebrating the successful completion of the midterms with satisfactory results.
"Well, we really graduated well, Bang," said Clara with a big smile. "It's all thanks to our hard work and dedication."
Kahar smiled, but he did not look completely happy. He felt that something was troubling his mind.
"You don't look as happy as you always do" said Clara. "What's wrong? Is this about your father's mystery?"
Kahar sighed. "I'm sorry, I just miss my mom, about the mystery that I'll solve during the semester break" he replied. "It's been four months since I last met him back home. I feel guilty for having to leave him for college in this city."
Clara nodded in understanding. "I know it's not easy, but you have to remember that you made this choice for your future. And, your mother must be proud of you because you achieved this feat." Clara took a spoonful of her cupcake and swallowed it with one bite. “I also miss my parents in Padang. I've even been here six months. Wow, even our fate, Bang.”
Kahar nodded, but he still felt a little doubtful. He misses his mother and his quiet and peaceful hometown. However, he is also aware that he must continue to fight to achieve his ideals and dreams in this city.
"You're right" Kahar said at last. "I have to keep fighting and I can't give up. Thanks for your support, Clara."
Clara smiled. "I'm always there for you, Kahar. I'm sure we'll succeed in solving your father's mystery and succeeding in life, if we keep working hard and supporting each other."
Kahar smiled and nodded. He felt a little better after getting support and advice from Clara. He promised himself to keep fighting and not give up for a bright future.
“By the way about the future.” Kahar straightened his coffee. The smell of coffee is so bad. “I want to find a side job, I think the money from the scholarship and the delivery of my mother is not enough as capital later to South Sumatra.”
“You sure?” Clara asked to confirm Kahar's wish.
“What my eyes show doubt.”
Clara. He knew that a Kahar if he had made a decision would be difficult to resist. “What do you want to work?” ask Clara again.
Kahar shrugged his shoulders at the sign of not knowing. Kahar refocused on his coffee. Clara kept quiet, thinking of a place where Kahar could get a job.In her confusion, Zico came uninvited and sat down next to Kahar.
“Can I sit here?” ask Zico a question
“Passed,” answered Kahar briefly while propping up his shoulder with his right hand.
“You have a problem?”
“Help us find a side job for Kahar,” says Clara is excited.
Zico thought seriously for a moment. Without excuse he took Kahar's Gayo coffee and upheld it once. Zico folded his hands thinking harder. From the head of the poet, a thought was drawn.
“How about working as a food stand guard on weekends?” drink Zico with one drink of Kahar coffee. Kahar smiled cynically. He knew that Zico was reliable.
“This.” Zico shows job vacancies from his mobile phone:
“From workers, ages 19-25 years. To help sell grilled sausage in front of SMA N 11 Garuda Nusantara.”.
Clara and Kahar looked excited. “How about I apply?” ask Clara.
“Why not,” close Kahar.
The night is getting late in Zico's coffee and poetry. "Drink your coffee, it's still black" Zico said.
The dim light of the moon bathed the city of Jakarta who refused to fall asleep. The three men, Kahar, Clara, and Zico agree to end the night and rush home. Zico comes home on foot because the cafe is not too far away with his boarding with Kahar. Meanwhile, Clara went home on her matic motorcycle. "Want me to drop off?" ask Clara to Kahar.
Kahar shook his head, he wanted to walk with Zico. Clara understood and immediately said goodbye to the dark.
On the way home, Zico asked about Kahar's poem the other day.
"You've broken your 'Explication' poem?" ask Zico.
Zico moistened his lips and began to concoct poetry along the way. Kahar just smiled, he had enough with the poem when breaking his father's poem yesterday.
"We're coming home" said Zico, closing his paper and pointing to his green kosan.
"Thank you for the coffee." Zico comes in first.
Kahar also thanked him and immediately headed to uncle Samsul's boarding house. When he arrived at the boarding gate, Kahar felt somewhat astonished because there was no sign of the whereabouts of uncle Samsul. He also saw a message written on the table stating that Uncle Samsul was staying at his friend's house for watching a football game.
Kahar felt a little lonely as he walked into his boarding house alone. Kahar also felt the cost felt lonely without the presence of Uncle Samsul. Last night without Uncle Samsul's guyonan was excruciating.
As he was about to head to the room, Kahar saw his notebook lying on the table. He also remembered something hidden in the book. Drowsily, Kahar opens the book and searches for the page he has hidden inside.
Kahar sat on his bed looking at the photo. He felt sad and lost, especially the longing for his mother and loneliness for Kahar's feelings more mixed, but also Kahar felt eager to continue to find out the whereabouts of his father. Kahar decides not to give up and continues to find out where his father is at the end of the semester to ask why his father left when he was not born.
Kahar kept the book in his bag. After storing the photo back in his notebook, Kahar dug up something in his bag. He was shocked to find a sacred necklace that he had never noticed before.
"The color is so tacky" Kahar thought as he looked at the necklace.
Kahar decided to use the necklace. In front of the mirror, he saw the necklace hanging beautifully. He felt that something strange was happening while wearing the necklace, as if something was making him feel more calm and peaceful. Kahar was relieved by the presence of the necklace and felt that his father must have been looking after him from afar.
Kahar's attention was diverted when the ringtone of his cell phone called. That's a notification from Clara.
"I've arrived. Crazy, I'm so sleepy."
Kahar smiled as he read the message, he took a photo in front of the mirror and pointed his necklace at Clara.
"See cooler 'kan wkwk."
The message was immediately delivered and turned blue. Clara typed long enough. A few minutes later he answered.
"I almost forgot about the necklace. Yesterday I had a chance to read more about the necklace in the book yesterday. The necklace is believed to save the Bajo tribe the strength of the ocean. I don't really believe."
Kahar read it seriously. He tried to digest the information Clara gave him. Looked at once again the sacred necklace.
"It's impossible, if this really has superpowers, I must have changed."
"Yes, I'm so sleepy. Keep the necklace, the photo, the poem."
A poem? Kahar remembered his father's poem. He took back his father's poem hidden near the photo. In front of the mirror, Kahar read the poem. He smiled considering that he now looked like Zico who liked to read poetry.
“Laboration bend the sea
with the storm spell..."
Just arriving in the first row, lightning struck. The storm suddenly came tonight. The wind was blowing and the thunder rang out incessantly in the sky of Jakarta. Heavy rain for Kahar worried about flooding.
"Surprisingly, it was a cloudless bright moon" said Kahar, astonished to stop reading the poem.
It rained extremely fast and fiercely, as if it was going to destroy everything in front of him.
Kahar was uncomfortable with such a situation. He felt isolated and had no place to shelter from such torrential rain. He felt very alone in the darkness of the rainstorm.
But Kahar did not panic. He remained calm and tried to find a way to survive in the midst of such a fierce rainstorm. He closed the windows and doors well so that rainwater would not enter his costs. It also lights up to provide warmth and safety.
After a while, the rain storm began to subside. Kahar was relieved. He felt that there was something strange about the necklace and the poem.It was like there was a strong connection between the two objects. Tonight he'll sleep with a hanging necklace.
Kahar tore his body down on the bed. He looked at the old paper of his poetry. Continue reading the rest of the 'internation' poem before actually falling asleep.
