Baskara's guess is true. He still found his father at home when Fabian drove him home before eleven p.m. The man was sitting on the porch, befriending a cigarette and a bottle of mineral water that was half-stall.
Baskara dragged his steps which suddenly felt heavy after Fabian's car drove away from his residential area. Though he had hoped that the boy would stop by for a while to at least help him break the awkwardness that occurred between him and his father.
"It's an internal family affair, I can't interfere." That was the reason given by Fabian before the rancid boy gasped. A reason that makes Baskara's lips continue to move silently until finally time makes him forced to stop grumbling and immediately enter when the high gate in front has been opened by security guards.
"Where to stop by?" jeffrey asked, as his eyes caught the presence of Baskara whose steps were deliberately made to settle.
Cigarettes that stayed a little he turned off, his butt was thrown just like that on the ashtray, following several other butts that had already become residents.
"Mega," said Baskara. In fact, he did not set foot into the club at all. But it's easier to answer like that, because he doesn't want his father to know that he and his friends have a new escape place besides Mega.
Baskara was a little surprised when Jeffrey's reaction was calm. The man just beards while reaching for a bottle of mineral water and then chugging the water in it until it is almost finished.
"Same Fabian?" jeffrey asked after putting the mineral water bottle back on the table.
"Yes." Yeah." Baskara answered briefly.
"Sometimes, bring him here."
Baskara raised her eyebrows. "Make what?" tanyanya. One hand moved reflexively taking one cigarette out of the pack that was on the table, then happily accepting when Jeffrey thrust the lighter towards him.
The lighter seemed to have a grudge against Baskara, because when the young man tried to light it, the fire that came out was always extinguished before it managed to touch the tip of the cigarette that he had slipped between his lips.
Jeffrey who saw it acted immediately. He retrieved the lighter from Baskara's hand, then he helped his son turn the lighter on.
And ... walla! The lighter was lit perfectly, the fire managed to ignite the tip of the cigarette so that a puff of smoke began to fly in the air.
Baskara smoked his cigarette deeply, letting the smoke he produced swallow some and some of it slowly. His face was turned in the other direction every time he wanted to exhale smoke, so that the dense smoke did not directly hit the face of Jeffrey sitting in front of him.
"Papa hasn't answered Baskara's question, yet" Baskara said after smoking six of his cigarettes, and Jeffrey remained silent.
The wind suddenly blew quite fast, making ash from cigarettes that were being blown away and some fell on his pants.
Jeffrey, who was still reluctant to answer, was busy cleaning the ashes attached to Baskara's pants, making the young man cluck slowly.
"Just ashes, won't make Baskara die." Insinuations.
However, Jeffrey did not discuss the syndication and continued his activities. "Your pants are dirty, Mama will grumble." He said after he finished cleaning Baskara's pants, making sure no more ash stuck there.
The answer Jeffrey gave managed to make Baskara freeze. The cigarette that he had previously smoked until the smoke filled his chest cavity and made his lungs blacken, now no longer looks attractive in his eyes. Because, the gaze of Jeffrey who is now fixated on him has managed to make him fall asleep. They forget that they are not okay.
In the midst of the silence created, Sera's soft voice suddenly airs, making Baskara and Jeffrey simultaneously turn to the door.
"Come in, it's night." Sera said, addressed to Baskara who was even dumbfounded, leaving the cigarettes that were clamped in between his fingers burned little by little until they were almost exhausted.
"This abisin was," Baskara said, showing Sera the cigarette in her hand. However, the woman shook her head quickly.
"Log in," repeated.
Throughout his life, Baskara had never seen his mother angry. Even when his father became a rarity to return home, Baskara would still see Sera with her calm disposition.
But tonight, with her own eyes, she saw that Sera's gaze towards Jeffrey had changed. The fact that finally made him feel slapped, and as if reminded that his family was not okay.
"You're in, too, Jeff, the night wind isn't good for your health."
Even from his voice, Baskara knew that Sera was hiding her anger against Jeffrey. Perhaps there is something unresolved between his father and mother. So, as a child who still wants both parents to get along, Baskara resigned. He intends to give space to Sera and Jeffrey to chat in order to improve their relationship. Without knowing that after he entered the house, tension between Sera and Jeffrey instead back up.
"You met the boy." Sera said after confirming that Baskara could no longer hear the conversation between herself and Jeffrey.
"As Baskara's father." Jeffrey tried to defend himself. "And I did not deliberately appear before him, to later acknowledge myself as his real father." His impression, to remind Sera of the agreement they made yesterday, that she is still allowed to see her son from afar, or just greet each other if they accidentally meet. With a note, he could keep his attitude and would not act recklessly.
Instead, he will go home.
Trying to be the father figure that Baskara used to have. Trying to fill the void he left for six years, and hoping that Baskara's heart is still spacious enough to accept his return.
"We've agreed on this" Jeffrey said.
"I said you could say hello to him if you accidentally met him somewhere, Jeff." Sera said, while holding back the emotions that started to rise bit by bit. "But you obviously deliberately appeared before him today." Further.
"You think I didn't know that your meeting with the rector this morning was actually just an excuse, so that you can monitor the child and look for opportunities to meet and make the meeting seem unintentional?"
"Fucking humans" Jeffrey sneered, referring to the minions Sera accidentally scatters all over campus to prevent her from meeting her own son. He thought the money he spent was enough to make a few mouths shut. But as it turns out, he forgets Sera's pet dogs that money can't buy.
"You're the fucking one." Sera growling. His hands clenched tightly beside his body, he could have used to beat Jeffrey if he wanted, because he knew he would not try to resist or retaliate.
"Once again I know you're trying to cheat, I won't hesitate to actually remove that child from the face of this earth." Sera Threat. Then, the woman turned around and stepped inside the house.
Sera left Jeffrey alone. But strangely enough, it was Sera who felt lonely.
