THE PURE BLOOD'S

THE PURE BLOOD'S
Chapter 3

It's been a week since Josette returned to London with the secrets she's been carrying. He still hasn't told Jonathan and Freya what else Nick is. He has not found the right time to tell them, especially when Jonathan and Freya are being preoccupied by their investigation. Josette was a little bit grateful because that way she could stall for longer.

About not joining Nick back in London, makes Jonathan look disappointed. For days Josette was haunted by feelings of guilt for not succeeding in persuading Nick. He tells her what happened when Nick found out that he was leaving Spain, telling her that Nick was so angry that he committed an act of violence against her. But he didn't talk about his physical activities with Nick.

Jonathan is angry to hear Nick's violent actions and feels very guilty for Freya. The act of hurting his own sister that Nick often did was never accepted by him. For that Jonathan represents Nick apologizing.

How much happier Josette would be if Nick himself apologized to her. But there is no reason not to grant the apology Jonathan represents. Jonathan always reflected the figure of a brother in his eyes. If only his own brother was still alive, he would be like Jonathan instead of Nick who wanted to kill him. Turning his gaze toward the threshold where Jonathan now stands.

That afternoon their home will be the arrival of a guest. Jonathan invited the man himself. Serafina de Martel was named after a witch who was predicted as the strongest witch in the city. She was wearing a dark green dress, her bright brown wavy hair was left hanging on her back. The witch was greeted by Jonathan himself.

Josette noticed her brother's interaction with the woman. Josette has always been curious because she has never seen a handsome Jonathan interact with women, other than him and Freya.

Jonathan kissed the back of Serafina's hand, without breaking eye contact with the woman. Josette smiled at the scene. It turns out that Jonathan still likes the opposite sex, Josette mused without feeling amused.

“What's funny?” That's Freya's sniffle.

Josette moved her head pointing at their guests. “The magician, what's the relationship with our brother?”

Spontaneous Freya extended her neck, looking up at her brother. “Introduction.”

“Really? You don't see the way they look at each other?”

Freya seemed to not understand.

“Yeah, Freya, you can't see it, huh?”

“No need for anything I saw.” Then he crossed paths, watching Jonathan and Seraphina. “What do you see of them?”

“Splash in Joe's eyes. Looks like I missed a lot of things when I went on vacation.”

“From the way he talked about Serafina back then, I found nothing at all. After seeing them now, I believe in you.” Freya was happy to see Jonathan throw a smile at Serafina. Seeing that togetherness Freya became envious.

He had not been in love for decades. In the past, the fate of all Freya lovers always ended tragically. Somehow they must be involved in a crime that makes Nick have to kill him. The task of eradicating the evil that threatens the city wins is given to Jonathan and indirectly, Nick is the cause of all the deaths of Freya's lovers.

“Josie. Freya.” Jonathan called the two women, asking them to come closer. “Meet our guests.”

Serafina threw a sweet smile which made her look very beautiful. “Serafina de Martel's. Nice to meet you guys.”

“You are very beautiful, Miss de Martel,” chirped Josette without being held back.

Serafina laughed then her gaze went down to Josette's stomach. Getting such a look Josette's attitude turned defensive.

“You are no less beautiful, Miss Sherwood.”

“How about me?” connect Freya. They laughed again, and then they went into the house together.

But Josette was still silent in the doorway. Thinking about the meaning of Serafina's gaze as if she knew about her secret.

“Josie?” Jonathan called.

“I'm coming, Joe.” Josette walks quickly behind Jonathan, deliberately hiding.

“I didn't see Mr. Nick Sherwood,” Serafina told Jonathan.

“He's not here. I think Nick is still at home on vacation in Spain,” tell Jonathan. But while glancing at the suddenly somber Josette. “Please sit.”

As the host, Jonathan sat on a single sofa while Serafina sat on the other sofa near Jonathan. Freya was right across from the witch, while Josette sat on the other single sofa opposite Jonathan.

“Sweetest. It would be helpful if he had a discussion with us here. *Well*, since it's just us, let's start.”

The first minutes of Josette only listened to all the talk of the three people. After a while Josette realized that Serafina's accent was different from all of them. His accent is Spanish. It's only natural that Jonathan was crazy about that woman.

Her accent makes her sound sexy. On the sidelines of the conversation, Josette threw a smile after Jonathan was caught admiring Serafina. Jonathan smiled back and refocused again.

“Three nights ago, one of the vampires in our clan was killed. I found this mark on his neck.” Jonathan leaned forward to give his cell phone to Serafina. Showing a photo.

“So right my guess. This terror is not an ordinary attack,” Serafina said. His roar looked solemn as he looked at everyone in the room.

“Jonathan says it's some kind of ritual. Really so?”

Freya's words made Jonathan look at her sharply. He would rather ask Serafina directly, not through his sister.

Serafina nodded. “This is no ordinary ritual,” told him. “Fear that ritual to perform powerful dark magic, Jonathan. See the number of victims and this symbol.”

“Can't you find out who did it?” Josette who was silent and listening finally spoke up.

Serafina turned her head in a graceful gesture then replied. “I've tried to do it, Miss Sherwood. But my efforts have not yielded results. Maybe if your brother *tribrid* is here, I'm sure we can do it.”

“Even you know that designation. Looks like only I know later,” murmured Josette.

Freya and Jonathan are left clueless as to why Josette suddenly seems angry. The two men simply looked at his sister in silence without asking further.

“You said it was a powerful dark magic ritual and we needed Nick to help. Joe, since I didn't manage to persuade Nick why don't you?”

“I've tried.”

“You're hiding something. Right, right?” Guess Jonathan.

Josette had no idea how Jonathan could come to that conclusion. Plus Serafina's piercing gaze felt burdensome on her shoulders.

“Say...what is it, Josie,” urges Jonathan.

Josette retreated, rubbing both arms like a cold person and then fell down beside Freya. “I can't tell you now. I'll talk if Nick's here.”

“Then, our discussion got here first.” Serafina opened her voice after a long silence.

“Mari, I will escort you out, Serafina,” Jonathan said as he offered his hand. He walked out, his look like a class-thinking person.

“You look worried about your family problems.”

“Oh! I'm sorry,” Jonathan said after being jolted by Serafina's voice.

“It's okay. I know where the door is, go see your sister and solve your problems.”

Jonathan looked bad. As an apology, she peeked at Seraphina and went to look for Josette. The room was empty, the man surrounded the house, finding Josette and Freya talking in the back garden.

“I'm not happy you're hiding your secret, Josette,” Jonathan said. Judging from his face Jonathan looked angry.

“Let me not be silenced forever.”

“Really?”

Now Jonathan's gaze was like that of a brother who no longer believed in his sister. Somehow Josette was sad to be stared at so.

“Then what incriminates you to talk?”

“Because..” Josette held back so that her voice would not sound vibrating. “This has everything to do with Nick. That's why I want him to be with us when I say it.”

“Anything related to Nick must be bad,” said Freya.

Josette looked down sad to hear that, but Jonathan came to her, rubbing her head.

“It's very heavy for you to hide this from us.”

Looking up, looking at Jonathan's shady gaze as if washing over Josette. He couldn't bear to not cry at that moment. “True says Alex. I am the most beautiful among you. Quickly, he and Nick did not want to get close to me.”

Jonathan smiled, as did Freya whose heart was as hard as a rock inexplicably filled to see the sadness in her sister's eyes.

“Sorry for my bad words earlier.” Then he hugged Josette.

“Well, because we're facing a precarious problem. I'll find a solution soon. Josie, lend me your phone.”

Without asking Josette gave her the phone. Jonathan's eyebrows had gone up to see the display screen of the phone. The picture shows Josette embracing Nick's neck, the sides of their faces clinging to each other and the two smiling. The photo was taken by Nick while they were in Spain. Apparently they had shared good memories while on vacation, Jonathan thought. It was clearly visible in Nick's expression in the photo.

Ignoring the photo for a moment, Jonathan opens Josette's contact list and contacts Nick. Who would have thought that Nick picked up the call, after a long time ignoring Jonathan's phone call.

“Little *Josette! What else do you want to do to call me*?”

“This is Jonathan, Nick.”

Sounds of moaning from across there. “*You stole his phone to call me*, Brother? *It seems that you are really desperate, yes*.”

I see Jonathan's smile. “You can think of me as such. No problem,” he said while being careless. “Nick, we really need you here. Return to London.”

“*Ah... I still feel at home in Spain. The women here are sexy. You should have come here*—”

“I'll come to pick you up if needed... Nick,” interrupted Jonathan with a sharp tone so Nick knew he was being serious.

“*Do Josette*—”

“She told me everything and she said that there was one secret related to you. That's why we here need you.”

Now that sharp gaze was directed at Josette.

“*Oh yes? What is*?”

“Nobody knows, Brother. He won't say before you go home, Jonathan's” is like he'll run out of patience by then.

“*I'm sure that this is just your wits*.”

Infuriated by the rambling speaker, Josette snatched her phone from Jonathan's hand. “You won't consider my words this time just for playfulness, *Bastard*!”

Everyone fell silent, including Nick across the street after hearing Josette's last words *bastard*— in this case, he meant an illegitimate child.

“Go home now or I—”

“*Alright, I'll go home*.”
