The Lord Legend Of The Raicarnated Lord
The Power of Battle and His Day as a Paid Army

Chapter 8: The Power of Battle and His Day as a Paying Army

During the two months he lay in bed after recovering from his injuries, Lorist spent all his time gathering information about the history, geography, Grindia folklore, and the past, as well as travel journals to gain a rough understanding of the new world in which it resides.

To Lorist, this world seemed to be very similar to Medieval Europe at first glance, given that he possessed objects such as titles and knights. In his past life, he had also forged a number of replicas of knight armor and sold them at high prices online.

The people here were very similar to the white Europeans, but according to his observation, the culture in this world was much more advanced than the Medieval people of the previous world. However, the food culture does look quite primitive here. He served oatmeal, black bread, and mashed potatoes with salt almost every day and 'suffered' endlessly to the point that she suspected that the reason her nanny was so fat was because she hid all the good food from her food.

With her mind full of such thoughts, she asked one of her caregivers, Kelly, to see if she could have a different menu for her meal.

Kelly said that this was a staple menu for sick students at the academy.

Lorist responded by insisting on being served only ordinary food.

So on the second day, Kelly brought a piece of black bread, some mashed potatoes and a bowl of vegetable soup (with only two leaves in it) that replaced regular oatmeal.

With a face full of tears, Lorist ate the food with a feeling of great sadness and despair.

One of the differences between the people here and the Europeans is the way they put their surnames in front followed by their names in the back in a similar way to the Chinese naming scheme. In a book dealing with the topic of the history of noble families, it is stated that for a thousand years of darkness, the brave warriors who challenged the beasts themselves and came back alive would be given the title by the village chief. Names such as Whitemont, Tusk, Hawksoar, etc. would be added before their names and, in time, the title became a surname. Norton, for example, means a raging bear in the ancient language of the fairies.

The most striking difference between this world and this world was the presence of two moons in the sky. The first larger silver moon was called Daphlyn and was personified as the Goddess of Silvermoon and was also known as the Goddess of Love. The smaller, blood-red moon that hangs in the night sky like a scarlet crescent moon fang is called Sufanna the Bloodmoon Goddess and also serves as the Goddess of Retaliation. According to legend, when Sufanna revealed herself as a full moon, it would signal the beginning of another major conflict on the continent.

Both the Silvermoon Goddess and the Bloodmoon Goddess were wives of Singwa, the God of the Sun, Light and War. That is also the reason why in Grindia, marriage between a man and two women is allowed. But one can only be allowed to do so if it can economically support having two wives. The status of the second wife is not lower than that of the first wife and both wives are entitled to the same amount of love and attention from the husband. That's why most people, even nobles, only take one wife to avoid too much hassle.

The more Lorist read about the history of the world, the more confused he became. It was because the Grindia Continent was huge and humans only occupied a third of it. The rest of the uncharted territory consists mostly of remote plains, forests or mountains. But many of the cultural and historical books he traced had maps of continents that were largely similar to each other. It is said that these maps were left out of the magic age and had been mapped by the magi during their travels around the continent.

The languages spoken on the continent are known as common languages. Everyone on the continent speaks that language and no alternative dialect has ever developed. The script resembles letters and consists of 32 characters that can be formed into words by placing two or three characters into a diamond-like shape. In the books, it is said that this language has been developed by magi specifically for human use. The Magi also knew several other languages of other races including those of ancient fairies, dragons, gremlin as well as several other languages containing mysterious magical powers.

The most surprising part is the map shown in most of the books drawn on a planet. The only difference is that the planets in this world are known as planar worlds. Some books from the magic age describe that there are other planar worlds and they are also ball-like objects that hang in empty space.

If the map accurately described the Grindia Continent, then the legend about magi must have been true; there was no other explanation. If that was the case, it meant that civilizations on the continent evolved in a straight path that relied heavily on individual training in magic followed by Battle Force, unlike civilizations in previous lives that pursued advances in science and technology instead.

It was at this moment that Lorist suddenly felt interested in the mysteries of the War Force. After carefully researching the manual version of the Blazing War Force and using it to train, he came to understand that the key to channeling the War Force was blood circulation.

The Grindia people call the points where the blood vessels cross 'nodes'. The human body has 72 major nodes and 360 minor nodes as well as 1080 miscellaneous nodes. By sensing the elemental energy in the surrounding environment, one can increase one's blood circulation rate and make the blood circulate through specific nodes in the body, it produces a unique and explosive generation of life energy that can be harnessed to massively increase one's strength, speed as well as reaction time. This is the power of the Battle Force.

Nodes from the eyes to the jaws produced a light-type War Force. Nodes from the back of the head to the tailbone result in a dark-type War Force. This type of Air Battle Force comes from the glands around the kidneys and bladder. Nodes from the right chest to the gallbladder and liver produce a wood-type Battle Force whereas nodes around the right abdomen correspond to fire-type. The left chest is trained in a metal type Battle while the left abdominal node is trained in earth attributes. Finally, several major knots from the shoulders to the upper thighs produced a Battle Wind type. In addition to the more common attributes, several types of exotic Battle Force attributes such as the blood attribute or ice attribute also exist.

In most cases, the, combat Forces training involves taking several major nodes on the body to form a pentagram (five-pointed star) or hexagram (six-pointed star) and accelerating and isolating blood circulation in the body through small nodes in the body between star shapes to manifest Battle Force. To reach the point where the realized Battle Force could be projected according to one's will was the main goal of training. Lorist felt that the theory behind the War Force training was very similar to the art of training the internal energy of the body he had encountered in his past life.

However, Battle Force training was inflexible because one could not train in Battle Force with different attributes. For example, if one is trained in the Earth Battle Force attribute, one cannot train in another Battle Force with different attributes. While training in other attributes would not cause serious damage to a person, he would forever be stuck and unable to advance to the next level. Then again, many different types of Battle techniques existed. There were roughly more than ten low attribute null attributes basic ranked Battle techniques that only allowed one to train up to the Iron level at most; these were usually used by soldiers to train their soldiers.

There are two main advantages that come with Battle Force null attribute training. First, there were no attribute requirements and anyone could train them. Secondly, it was relatively easy to train in the null attribute of the War Force technique: one could quickly and easily sense elemental energy, the, and the pentagram point used to manifest the Battle Force zero attribute only required the activation of a small number of minor nodes, reducing the difficulty further for the practitioner to understand the energy flow.

It is common practice to introduce students in a War Force awakening course with basic War Force techniques before allowing them to choose a mid-ranked or high-ranking technique with attributes that suit them when they reached the Iron rank. However, most of the Battle Force manuals on the market only allowed one to train up to Silver rank. Gold Force Battle rank manuals were relatively rare and cost a lot of money.

Deeply interested in the Blazing Battle Force technique he possessed, Lorist trained hard in that technique and did not worry about not having the rest of the techniques from the Silver rank onwards because according to his inherited memories, his third uncle came to visit him once a year to check on him and gave him money to pay for school fees. That was why, he thought he could ask for the rest of the techniques after he trained to the peak of Iron rank. But who knows just after three years he came into the world, his uncle stopped visiting unannounced and disappeared without a trace. The following year, the third prince of the Krissen Empire sparked a civil war and permanently severed Lorist's contact with his family in the far north.

Lorist was not too bothered by the loss of contact with his family and was even a little pleased, given that the original owner of his body was exiled from the house. He no longer needed to worry about his identity being revealed anymore. The problem is his cost of living: he probably won't have any trouble with food; he can always go to McDuffin's roadside stall, or, in the worst case, eating meals provided by the academy as all three meals of the day were included in the tuition fees. The food provided was definitely not tasty, but he could live with it. The real problem is paying for school fees.

At that time, Lorist had already been in the academy for three and a half years. After obtaining certification for knight training and professional accounting courses, he was already able to graduate without any problems. However, in the three years since Lorist crossed over to this world, he had already established a close relationship and familiarized himself with the city and had already considered Morante City as his home. Where would he go even if he were to graduate? Having just broken through the Iron rank at the age of 18, with Lorist's ability, it was indeed a little earlier for him to go explore the foreign world.

In addition, in order to better understand the world of Grindia, Lorist applied for two other additional courses last year in the study of herbs and magical beasts. He subconsciously thought that the more he learned, the better he was able and adapted in this world. And, to his great advantage, he was reincarnated into the most advanced and civilized city on the continent and no one ran to the village in the desolate wilderness, either, saved him a lot of time and effort in studying the world through trial and error. Who knew where he would end up should he be a little less fortunate like him.

Professional courses will cost about five to eight gold Ford per semester. The study of magical beasts was relatively simple: one studied the subject just by looking at the images of magical beasts and memorizing all the effective ways to kill them as well as the valuable parts that every beast possessed. A person will not have much trouble to pass the course if his memory is good enough. Herbalism, on the other hand, is much more demanding. One should be able to distinguish one herbal plant from another, understand the proper methods to store different herbs as well as experiment with different combinations of herbs. Experiments usually cost quite a bit of money.

For the first three years, Lorist's third uncle usually brought him new clothes and food whenever he came to visit him and also left behind thirty or so gold coins, sometimes even more when the business is good, for him to cover his living expenses and tuition. Lorist was also not rash with his expenses. He simply used the money to pay the waiter and bought the book from time to time and ended up with thirty gold Ford in his savings.

To McDuffin, thirty Gold Ford was a rather large sum. But for Lorist, it was only enough for about a year and a half to finance his studies and other necessities.

So, he was looking for another way to earn money to stay in the city. He was then taken to a mercenary guild by some of his friends and managed to register as a low-ranked Bronze Mercenary and started taking missions.

Nonetheless, given Lorist's experience in his past life and his great attention on occasion, he got a good idea for the business during one of his missions and tied up a few friends to raise initial capital. Buying a large amount of ferocious beast fur, he commissioned several tailors to sew it into a backpack that was very commonly seen in his past life. Being a new design that did not hinder movement and was easily and quickly equipped onto one's back, his stock of 400 bags sold out in an instant as he brought it back to the mercenary guild. Lorist and his comrades each got a share of over ten gold Ford's and struck a few more times when the iron was still hot, earning him another seventy to eighty gold coins.

Just as he was about to start a leather factory with his friends to mass produce these backpacks, he noticed that there were a lot of scams in the market that greatly lowered the price of each bag, causing Lorist and his friends to be furious and frustrated as he gave up on the idea.

That business venture made Lorist quite famous among the people in the mercenary guild and made himself earn the respect of his friends. In reality, Lorist had many other ideas that could make more money, but he thought it was better to remain inferior and not draw too much attention to himself. The money he had back then was already more than enough for him to live without worries. Since then, he spent most of his time in the academy studying and occasionally taking on some mercenary missions. During the holidays, he would form a small team with some close friends and go on an expedition to kill some low-level magical beasts. Spending his days leisurely, he had already been among the ranks of mercenary veterans in just three years.
