Meet Me At Midnight's

Meet Me At Midnight's
Raindrop

That afternoon, Brian set himself on a minimarket. The heavy rain that fell made him cold. How much longer will it take to wait for the rain to stop? Brian wants to go home. But the distance of his house is still quite far if he recklessly runs from here.

The door of the minimarket was open. A beautiful girl came out from the minimarket. Her long hair was unraveled, without any polish on her face. Brian was happy to see the girl. Sometimes he steals his eyes to look at the girl.

The girl extended her hand towards the falling rain. Feel the rain that feels good. The girl smiled as she touched the rain.

"Like the rain?" ask Brian for release. He shut his mouth and swore he would say nothing more.

"Yes. That you?" asked the girl still with her sweet smile.

"I don't like it very much. Because it was raining, I couldn't go home" Brian replied.

Again the girl smiled sweetly.

"Some people may hate the rain. Some people like the rain. For me the rain has a beautiful tone. Hearing the sound of rain makes me happy." said the girl.

"Then why don't you play in the rain?" ask Brian plainly.

"You're funny." The girl smiled and laughed again.

"My name is Gisel" said the girl extending her hand. He introduced himself to Brian.

"Brian." said Brian to greet the hand of the girl named Gisel.

"You live in the area?" tanyakanya.

"I'm at the Gem complex. That you?" brian answered back asking.

"I'm at the Buana complex. Near dong ya."

Gisel looks sweet when he talks. Brian thumped even more as Gisel invited him to a long talk. While waiting for the rain to subside, Gisel always asked Brian. Brian finally finds out that Gisel is a year older than him.

This year, Gisel graduated from his first grade school. I don't know where he will continue his schooling.

Days passed. Sometimes if you meet with Gisel, Brian will call her out loud, until Gisel feels embarrassed to be called that hard.

Once, Brian wanted to meet Gisel and play to his housing complex. Gisel was seen playing on a swing in the park. Brian, who was carrying a bicycle, pulled over his bike and approached Gisel.

"Hi, Gisel." said Brian. Gisel turned his head and returned a smile on his face.

"Hello, Brian."

"Why are you sitting here alone?" Brian sat down on the swing next to Gisel.

"Next week I'm moving schools, Brian" Gisel said.

"Moved school? Didn't you get into Garuda school?" brian did not understand.

"Yes, Brian. But my father got a job in Kalimantan. And I'm gonna move there."

Brian swallowed his saliva.

"Are you serious?" brian did not believe it. He had just gotten to know Gisel more closely. Just now he was happy with Gisel who was always smiling. But now, Gisel was sad and still kept smiling.

"I'm sorry, Brian. We are close" said Gisel.

Gisel looked at Brian sadly. Just this time Gisel looked into Brian's eyes deeply.

"Learn the diligent, Brian. Until you graduate school" said Gisel. Brian laughed and thought Gisel's words were just a joke.

"Don't talk like that. I must have passed whatever the reason was."

Suddenly, Gisel hugged Brian. Brian was surprised.

"I'm sad, Brian. I just liked you. But I have to go." said Gisel. Brian's smile is gone. Hearing Gisel cry, it was as if a knife had pierced his heart.

Brian stroked the back of Gisel who was crying sobbing. His tongue felt stifled. I don't know what to say to Gisel.

"What's wrong, we'll see each other again" Brian said. That's all he can say.

"You have to promise, if you see me, you have to recognize me. Yea?"

Brian laughed at Gisel's voice that sounded spoiled.

"Brian! Don't laugh!"

"Yes, I promise. You also have to promise, take care of your health and study diligently."

Gisel stretched out his pinky so that he could put their promise together. Brian just followed what Gisel did.

"You have to grow up to be a strong, smart and beautiful woman" Brian said.

"You too, Brian. So successful, famous and handsome man. So you can find my whereabouts." said Gisel with a big smile.

Brian smiled too. To anyone who saw her, Gisel's smile was the most beautiful smile ever seen. Charming and graceful. Gisel also always wore a bandana on his head. So that adds to the elegance of the current Gisel.

Brian was sad that he would soon be abandoned by Gisel. Although his heart wanted to scream, but what could Brian do. It's not who Gisel is. He was just someone who accidentally met Gisel at a minimarket and then tied a promise with him.

The next day, Brian went to the Gisel housing complex. He saw Gisel's stuff that had been raised on a freight truck. Initially, Brian wants to approach Gisel's house and meet Gisel. But Brian undid his intentions and turned his bike around again.

Brian's heart felt empty. He felt empty and sad that Gisel would move out of the house.

It rained again today. Again Brian could not go home because of the rain and he did not bring an umbrella. Brian set himself on the minimarket and only this time his heart felt bitter. He really hates the rain. Where the rain will lead him to the bitter memories of his life.

A car is moving slowly. Because of heavy rain and fear of splashing others with water touched by tires. Gisel saw Brian in the minimarket. Gisel's heart wanted to cry again. This was the last time he saw Brian. He saw the figure of Brian who was waiting for the rain to subside by raising his hand to play rain water.

"Gisel, don't be sad anymore" said Mama to see Gisel who was crying.

With his esophagus choked, Gisel could only answer short. "No, Ma."

Mom and Dad could only look at each other. They know this often hurts Gisel. Gisel often lies to himself that he is okay, even if he is not.

The rain has gone. Brian picked up his parked bike and rode it. There are hearts that are hurt by the rain and there are those that are happy because of the rain.

This time, Brian only had a heart that was hurt by the rain. He pedals his bike slowly. He slowly left the minimarket that brought him to Gisel. As if he did not want to look at the minimarket again.

He looked ahead, hoping that one day God would reunite him with Gisel. In any way, he will continue to ask God despite being separated by a distance that knows enough, only Gisel is always in the chanting of his prayers.
