An Intimidation

"Can you explain this?" asked Madame Sanio without further ado. His eyes pointed towards a black and white photograph on the table.

"That's an ultrasound photo of the contents." Doctor Anna answered briefly.

"Whose's?" ask Mrs Sanio again.

"Customers to patients."

Madam Sanio laughed cynically. He then looked at Anna's doctor with a sharp look in his eyes.

"What's the patient's name?" ask again.

"Consecret. That's why his name wasn't listed on the examination results. Patient data is pri..."

"Enough." Madam Sanio cut off the words of doctor Anna with her firm and sinister tone of voice.

To be honest, this creepy meeting was not the first time for Anna's doctor. 10 years ago, she had experienced the same thing.

In a cafe in the snowy suburbs of DC, Anna, who is still a medical student, stares timidly at the big madam in front of her.

They sit face to face. Lady Sanio sat down with her luxurious fur coat. Behind him stood a bodyguard who looked more like a bouncer because of his large and creepy body.

"You're dating Dario, my son?" ask the Madam without further ado.

The young and timid Anna Tomya nodded doubtfully.

Young Madam Sanio laughed cynically. Just as cynical as it is today. A scary and intimidating laugh.

"decide now. Don't tell me because I. You are not worthy of my son. Dario's been betrothed. Camp her. Make him hate you. I'll give you a lot of money." Mrs Sanio said disparagingly and pulled out a few dollar chips from her expensive bag.

Anna Tomya's hand was trembling. He had never seen that much money before. As a medical student who only relied on scholarships and his family lived poor, he was certainly tempted.

"My people will be watching. Do not be afraid, if less I will give more. I have a lot of money. But, remember one thing. Leave Dario." The madam looked at Anna like an eagle that wanted to prey on the helpless little duck.

Anna Tomya. He was so cowardly first. He started crying, his hands were shaking. He remembers his poor parents and his sick father. One of his biggest motivations for going to medical school was his father.

Some of the dollar bill was thrust closer towards his hand. The slippery table squeaked. The pile of money was so tempting.

Dario is his High School friend. They get to one campus because the smart Anna manages to get a scholarship.

The weak and needy Anna took the money with sweaty hands. Chest thumping. He put it in his shabby college bag.

Madam Sanio smiled. One lowly woman was knocked out easily.

The woman he underestimated is now a famous and qualified doctor in his field.

Mrs Sanio of course could not give and bribe her any more money. Anna Tomya's husband is a lawmaker in the city.

"Anna, I know you're a professional. But don't forget, I have power in this hospital. I can get you knocked out and not be accepted at any Hospital in the country. I can ruin your good name easily." Mrs Sanio began to threaten.

"Madam, stop intimidating and threatening me. Please report. I work according to the code of ethics. I'm not afraid" said Anna's doctor boldly. Now the eyes of the big madam were stared at with a glittering look of courage.

"What about your husband's good name? Huh huh? He could be in jail. Vallen Willson played dirty with those companies. Including him offering a rotten contract to Axton. Dario refused it. With just one sentence out of my mouth, the career of your husband you're proud of is over." Madam Sanio again laughed cynically. He felt in the wind.

Doctor Anna is back. Vallen was never honest about his job and money outside of his paycheck kept going into accounts. So all this time he was corrupt and playing bribes. He just found out.

"You said let alone you. Tell me who it belongs to? And why is it in Dario's suit pocket. Can't Dario have an affair and she's pregnant with her child?" ask the Madam.

"Maybe." Doctor Anna replied with trembling lips.

"Impossible. Dario mandul's. Dozens of doctors have checked it" Mrs Sanio said.

Madam Sanio glared with eyes squinted. "What do you mean?" he said with a probing tone.

"Please promise not to report my husband. I need proof" Anna's doctor said, then took her cell phone. The recording device was turned on. Doctor Anna looked towards Madam Sanio.

Mrs Sanio had no other choice. He agreed.

"Normal scenario, no problem with her fertility. She is not barren or has any other sexual problems. All good."

"Why are the test results different?"

"Maybe your daughter-in-law is barren or has fertility problems. I can check it if you want. Don't doubt my ability as a specialist. But I'm not sure Celia wants me to check."

Madame Sanio clenched her fingers. So Dario's words were correct. He was sure he was not barren. Why Celia could lie to him like this and he just believed it.

"Who's the baby in this picture?" asked the big madam with a curious face.

"Patient baby." Doctor Anna insisted. At least he didn't reveal all Dario's secrets. Only part of it. He will try his best.

"Don't mess with me, Anna."

"I'm not kidding. Look, even I recorded it," rich doctor Anna while pointing at her cell phone.

"Dario's affair? Her boyfriend?" Mrs Sanio won't give up. It will continue to urge.

"I don't know, Madam. I didn't ask." Now Anna's doctor seemed more courageous to answer.

"What's his name?"

"I don't know his full name, Madam. I just checked it and asked for his complaint. That's all my job. I have no right to collect patient data."

"How many months of age is it?" Mrs Sanio seems to be not giving up.

"Winter the child will be born" he said, narrowing down the information.

"That's Dario's son?"

"I don't know, Madam. Dario just took him to check." Now Anna's doctor is starting to lie.

"What is the character of the woman?"

"Yes, like women in general. Tall, pretty, that's all. No special features, Madam. My patients are many and of course all women. I can't remember everything" said Anna's doctor. He was getting tired of this conversation.

"good. I'll go" said Mrs Sanio and left. He didn't get a meaningful answer.

Doctor Anna breathed a sigh of relief. He saw the ultrasound photo left on the table. Madam Sanio forgot to take it.

Doctor Anna took it immediately. He put it in his bag and passed away.

He drives with anxiety. How does he explain this to Dario?

Fortunately, the lady forgot the photo. He could have asked another doctor. The results are easy to read. The approximate date of birth and also the fact that the baby is twins.

Cellphone's ringing. It's getting tense. Dario called him.
