Actually, I Was The Real One

Actually, I Was The Real One
Chapter 9

After thinking about it for a while, he could look at the current situation objectively.

"Oh, I'm stupid."

Keira spent her entire life trying to be a woman worthy of Parvis's name. He stayed home to study and did all he could to be acknowledged by his father.

He wanted to be a perfect person that no one could find fault with.

If that happened, his father would recognize him.

He lived and died like that.

In the end, it turned out that all efforts were in vain.

The Grand Duke rejected her as soon as it was revealed that she was not his daughter. Very resolute, as if he was throwing away something useless.

It was so painful that Keira cried with her head bowed for a while. But the crying did not last long.

When she heard a knock on the door, Keira wiped her tears and raised her head.

"What the hell is going on?" she asked. When he heard the voice of the servant, he let him in.

"Your Majesty has sent a therapist."

"Your Majesty?"

What's wrong with her?

Keira tried to remember if this had happened in the past, but nothing came to her mind. Not that he was a genius who remembered every ordinary occurrence, but he would never be able to forget the incident where his father would send a therapist to him himself.

Duke is not a person who likes to talk about his feelings. If such a person sent a therapist himself, Keira's past would move beyond belief.

I couldn't have forgotten.

"Why did he suddenly send a therapist?"

"Maybe it's because you missed a greeting today," the waiter replied hesitantly.

Keira's eyes widened in surprise.

"Ha," he sighed.

The Duke never looked back when he begged for attention.

"There must be a misunderstanding. I'm not sick. Send the therapist back politely."

When he answered, the servant was off guard. "But Your Majesty might be offended if you do that."

"Why? He sent me a therapist because he was worried about my health. Isn't it lucky to hear I don't need to be checked because I'm healthy?"

"Miss, after seeing His Majesty's sincerity, you should be checked once—"

"It'll take half an hour. Waste time. Send him back politely."

"..."

Despite his determination, the servant stood still. He looked quite surprised.

It was not good for the staff to be told twice. This time, though, it was understandable.

In the past, Keira lives with the thought of wanting to be loved by her father. He makes every effort to be recognized by his father and is considered worthy on behalf of the prestigious Parvis.

The woman who did that suddenly changed overnight and said she wouldn't even see the therapist her father had sent her.

So, it was understandable that the maid would try to prevent it, thinking she might lose her mind for a while.

It's not that Keira doesn't understand that's why she doesn't even think to scold him.

"I'll visit him later tonight to thank him. So, send back the therapist."

"Ah. Yes, yes, I understand," the waiter bowed and left the room.

Saying he would go to his father at night was not a lie to calm the worries of his servants. Keira will really visit him.

However, it was not to express gratitude. There was one thing he wanted to check personally.

'In addition, I must tell him that I will no longer greet him in the future.'

He stood up from his seat, and pondered the things he should do.

The woman's daily routine is quite busy.

If she had an older brother, she might be a little free. Unfortunately, however, Keira is the eldest daughter of the Grand Duke of Parvis, and her only brother is still a minor.

The eldest daughter of the family known as the Royal Shield will never be able to be free.

His daily routine starts again at 11. It was the final round for the annual Knighthood test.

As the first line of defense against the demonic threat, the Duchy of Parvis was the only one in the capital that had the right to possess the Knight Order.

Keira sat side by side with the Vice-Captain of the knights and observed the test.

I don't recognize the candidate. It was probably because he failed the exam.

Sure enough, the candidate fell less than a minute after starting the competition, and scored well below the graduation mark. He stood with his shoulders down in disappointment.

"Next!"

The next candidate looked familiar. The third son of the Cloud Family, Karl Cloud. He passed the exam today and will be appointed as a member of the Parvis Knights.

"He's going to pass," he murmured involuntarily.

As in his previous life, Karl Cloud showed a powerful attack. Even though he didn't win, he was a good candidate. He only took a break after passing the exam.

The rest of the exam will then take place after lunch.

Joseph, the Vice-Captain who was sitting next to Keira, stood up and said, "How do you know he's talented even without seeing him train?"

"Huh?"

Joseph looked at.

Joseph Argos, second son of the Argos family and Vice-Captain Knight.

...And the one who protected her to the end even though they were not close.

He pleaded with the King to reduce his sentence even at the risk of losing his position.

Even though he came from a prestigious family, the matter of divination was complicated. He risked his life as a knight for something in vain.

"Well, I just heard a rumor. Cloud's three sons are quite talented."

"So that's it."

In the past, he and Joseph were not close.

It had been a long-standing tradition for the Grand Duke's children to serve as the Knight's chief for two to three years after they reached adulthood.

People who join Knights are usually elites recognized for their pedigree and skills.

People speculate that the tradition began so that the children of the Parvis family, who would one day inherit the title, would be given the opportunity to establish connections with the noble elite.

Furthermore, leading such groups and coordinating between individuals is a valuable experience that cannot be learned from books.

So a year ago when Keira became an adult, she took over the post of Knight Captain. Regardless of whether he passed the examination or received the recognition from the knights, he obtained the position because he was the eldest son of the Grand Duke.

Ever since he took over the position, Joseph, who was once the Knight Captain, was demoted to the position of Vice-Captain.

Keira in the past was unsure of that fact.

Compared to Joseph, who was known for her skills, character, and bloodline, she was only given the title of nobility because she was the eldest daughter of that – Grand Duke alone; a parachute leader[1].

No matter how long the tradition was, it was too much for the stomach.

In order to be recognized by his father, there must be no gap because it only makes his weakness stand out.

Parachute captain and talented vice-captain.

It is clear which one will shine more.

He hated Joseph just because of his insecurity.

He started countless arguments over a small matter.

He knows it's sad. He knows it's wrong. However, the human mind sometimes ignores logic.

Nevertheless, in the past few days, he defended her. Joseph believed that the death penalty was too much. According to him, Keira does not cheat people because he wants to.

Why did Joseph defend her? What's the point of defending someone who's about to be killed?

He'll understand if they're close, but they're not.

He could only consider it an innate kindness [2].

"Okay, Mr. Joseph ."

Joseph looked back at her. "Yes, Captain?"

"I want to apologize to you."
