A Promise

Mariana woke up early, last night she had slept from exhaustion so she had no idea what was going on with Jansen. Mariana who was hitching a ride was of course not feeling good with Elena so she should know herself. I don't know when he'll be there, which he definitely can't linger even he intends to go home but the old man who is at home makes him doubt because he is afraid.

Somehow the fate of his two half-brothers, he did not know either. Last night there was a lawyer who came to interrogate him and he thought the lawyer was Elena's messenger. They talked for a long time, everything she experienced was told and nothing she covered. He desperately wanted to be free from the three depraved men so he did not want to cover anything up. She was going to ask Elena about this but Elena was busy so she wouldn't bother.

Mariana cleaned the house, as her appreciation of living there. He had already met a very good person, hence he should not disappoint that person. The sound of the thing he dropped accidentally shocked Elena and woke her from sleep.

Elena looked at the side of the bed, where Mariana was gone. Her eyes still felt heavy but she had to see what was happening because she was worried that the girl was destroying the thing in her house because she did not want any of it to be broken. Mariana who was still busy cleaning things in the closet stopped her activities as Elena stepped closer to her.

"What are you doing?" ask Elena.

"Because it's the weekend and I still have time so I think it's better that I clean this house as a thank you to my sister-in-law who has given me a ride" Mariana replied.

"If so call Jansen. Clean up with him!" Elena's orders.

"I don't dare brother-in-law."

"He won't hit you, go wake up."

"Sister-in-law, about that lawyer?" Mariana stopped her words, she became unwell because she was helped in such a way.

"Oh... He came looking for you, didn't he?"

"Yeah, I've told you everything I've been through. There's nothing I cover and every incident I've experienced you've told him" Mariana said.

"Good, if you want to be free of both your brothers and stepfather then you have to cooperate with that lawyer. He's a person I trust a lot so you don't have to worry. He will help you until your problem is resolved. Those who oppressed you all this time, they will not escape!"

"Thank you, brother-in-law. I'm so grateful to you and I'm so lucky to meet you. I don't think I'm the lucky one, but we're all lucky to meet nice, caring people like you!" Mariana held back the tears so that her two eyes glazed over. Really, he was very lucky and he was sure, the Black Circle gang was very lucky to meet people as good as Elena even though at the beginning they wanted to harm Elena.

"Well, what if we had a race tonight. Didn't sister-in-law promise to do it?"

"Alright, wake Jansen up so he can help you. I'm going to go buy stuff after this!"

"Okay, sister-in-law!" Mariana stepped towards Jansen's room. He had to tell his boss to actually chase after Elena before he left because he was sure there would be no one as good as Elena anymore that they would meet.

"Boss, sister-in-law asked you to wake up immediately!" mariana shouted while knocking on the door.

"Whisper!" Jansen took a pillow to cover his ears and went back to sleep.

"Sister-in-law said he'd slam you if you didn't wake up!"

Jansen hurriedly woke up after hearing Marian's words. Did Mariana see herself getting slammed by Elena last night? Surprisingly, his back was even still painful due to being hit by a hard floor and due to the blow he got, there was a bruise on his face. Damn it, it fell down the stairs.

"Hurry, boss, Brother-in-law is waiting!" yell Mariana again.

"I know, don't be noisy!" shout Jansen.

Mariana returns to do the pending work, while Jansen washes her face and sees her battered look. Don't make any more mistakes because his face will be ruined. After washing his face, Jansen came out of his room.

"What's calling me?" jansen asked as she stepped closer to Mariana.

"Why your face, boss?" ask Mariana.

"No need to ask too many questions. Just answer why you called me!"

"Help me clean the house, what else?"

"What?"

"No need to lie, this must be you!"

"Come, Boss. We have to return the favor to brother-in-law. We won't find anyone as good as him again so the boss has to get the brother-in-law's heart right away."

"Don't make things up. Just do your job right!"

"What do you mean?" Jansen looked at Mariana with a curious expression.

"Sister-in-law said he would leave someday so don't be sorry!"

Jansen shut up and thought. Is it true Elena is leaving? It couldn't possibly not have happened because Elena was still very mysterious. Not only was her origin unknown to her but until now she had not known who Elena really was.

"Do I need help so that the boss can get the heart of sister-in-law?" ask Mariana seductively.

"Whisper!" Jensen stepped away while rubbing his nape. The young man stepped towards the kitchen where Elena was making breakfast. Jansen's steps came to a halt, the man leaned against the wall with his chest closed and his eyes fixed on Elena.

Beautiful woman but? It seemed like he needed a considerable guts and a strong physique to approach and tempt a woman like this. Up until now, she was really very curious and wanted to know who Elena really was.

"From just standing there wouldn't you be better off helping me?" ask Elena.

"What can I do?" Jansen stepped closer then stood by Elena's side.

"Wash the vegetables that are there, make no mistake!"

"No way!" Jansen did as Elena commanded but she tried to glance at Elena once in a while.

"Where are you from, Elena?"

"After a long time, you've been asking that question now?"

"Yeah, I want to get to know you more."

"For what?"

"Listen," the vegetables were laid and then Jansen stepped closer to Elena and stood by her side again.

"Maybe right now I'm not a useful young man, Elena," he said.

"You mean?" Elena turned and was surprised as Jansen grabbed her hand and held onto it.

"For the time being, I am indeed not a useful young man. I've wasted a lot of my time but I promise you to do better. I will be a young man who can protect you someday, I promise you that" Jansen said, clasping her hand tightly.

"I like people who want to change and try, Jansen. So from now on you can't waste any more of your time."

"Thank you," Jansen raised Elena's hand and kissed her. He hoped not to get hit and was lucky not because Elena turned her face away.

"Don't do that!" elena said but she didn't pull her hand.

"Elena," Jansen slipped Elena's hair behind her ear. Elena was surprised, her heart almost jumped out. Elena turned, the charming smile Jansen showed made her even more nervous. Is that young man that handsome? Suddenly he forgot because he was not paying much attention.

"Ma-You what?" Elena was getting misbehaved and getting nervous.

"I just want to see this pretty face of yours" Jansen's warm big hands were already on her cheeks and it made Elena feel even hotter.

"Don't praise, I don't like it!" Elena turned back but Jansen was already holding her chin.

"I'm not praising you, you're really pretty. I'll prove to you that I can count on you and protect you."

"If so prove, do not just in the words!" Elena stepped back, she wanted to see how serious Jensen was with her words because speech without action was a lie. Jansen looked at him, right now he was indeed a useless young man but later on, he would become a man who could guard and protect Elena and he would prove that.
