Canceling Marriage

“Draven.”

Dimitri gave him only one stare which hinted that he should not be tired of fouling his hand because Lewis was only a human.

Draven snorted and sat back down. Jerrick looked at them in astonishment but Edric who could catch the situation there instantly shifted the concentration of the king's adviser.

Dimitri refrains from being provoked by emotions when King Lewis throws charms at Chloe. She's so confident that Chloe won't be attracted to a guy like Lewis.

The dinner ended without any bloodshed. Draven was immediately at Adreana's side to pull out his chair and clasped her lover's hand.

But Dimitri was deterred by Jerrick's question. “Mr Dimitri, for tomorrow's wedding ceremony, we have prepared all his needs including the priest. Is there another request of yours? We will be happy to help launch this event.”

“Quite made simple, Jerrick. Sorry if I had to borrow your king's back garden.”

Dimitri's eyes followed King Lewis, who pulled up Chloe's chair and was near her side. Chloe politely refused to be helped standing by Lewis's hand.

“It is precisely an honor to witness the wedding of war Commander Rudolmuv in our small kingdom. King Lewis has ordered us to provide the best service.”

“Thank you, Jerrick.” Dimitri nodded his head at the man and passed away.

“After this, there is a dessert that we can enjoy in the living room,” King Lewis invites to Chloe.

“Sorry, Your Grace. We have to go upstairs immediately to accompany our son.” Dimitri put his arm around Chloe's shoulder.

There was disappointment on King Lewis's face and he stared at Dimitri's hand over Chloe's shoulder. “Oh yes I understand. You guys will need a break for tomorrow too. Well then, good night Mr. Dimitri, Chloe.”

After parting ways with the others, Chloe and Dimitri walked down the palace hall and up the stairs to their room.

“So now King Lewis calls you ‘Chloe’? When you weren't in the room, you said he was calling you. What are you guys talking about?”

Chloe's not used to any questionable moves. This makes him uncomfortable. Not only husband, Dimitri is possessive, especially later they are legally married. Chloe doesn't miss out on how Dimitri's arm was embracing, showing King Lewis that Chloe is his.

“Our talk about Dwayne, made me realize that I as his mother knew nothing about my own son. I feel like a failure because outsiders like King Lewis only know the hours of sleep and wake Dwayne, while I don't.”

Dimitri stopped Chloe's footsteps, turning her body so they faced each other.

“Chloe, you just met Dwayne. Not even a day has passed. How do you know Dwayne's habits? You don't have to worry about that. After we get married, we can stay together and you alone will take care of Dwayne.”

Chloe scrunched her forehead. “Living together? Where?”

“Of course at D’Arcy residence in Rudolmuv Kingdom. You will be Lady D’Arcy.”

Lady D’Arcy!

“Yeah! How could I possibly live in Rudolmuv Kingdom? I'm Azov's war commander!”

Everything happened so quickly that he did not think that he still had a task that he could not just leave behind.

“You can resign, Chloe. I'm not against you being a War Commander, but how could you possibly split between Rudolmuv and Azov Kingdoms. Especially now there is Dwayne who needs his mother.”

“Dimitri, we should not rush to get married first. I'll be back to talk about this with Azov.”

Chloe is actually also hesitant about her ability to be a mother. She doesn't even remember she ever gave birth!

Dimitri hardened his jaw. “You look impatient to get married to me this morning, then why did you change your mind? Is this Lewis' work that instills doubt in your mind?”

Dimitri chased him from behind with one step up two steps at a time.

“What is your status as War Commander more important than your own son?”

Chloe turned her body and looked at Dimitri sharply. “I don't even remember I ever had a child, Dimitri!! Can't you give me a little time to think? What if I can't remember forever? I feel like I lost a part of myself.”

“Sorry, Chloe. I know this happened so suddenly. I'm just afraid you changed your mind and canceled our wedding. Tell you what, we're still getting married tomorrow but after returning from Navarre, I'll give you time to settle in the Azov Kingdom. But I was hoping you'd come home with me and Dwayne.”

When Chloe was silent, Dimitri clasped her right hand. “You agree?”

His status as a War Commander was indeed not very important to Chloe. If he resigns, at most Edric must rack his brains to find a replacement for Chloe. She was more concerned about her own feelings, not knowing why she felt she had to postpone their marriage.

But he also can't disappoint Dwayne who already knows that his parents are getting married. Chloe finally nodded.

That night they accompanied Dwayne until he fell asleep with his mom and dad lying on his right and left sides, feeling safe and protected.

“I still can't believe I could give birth to a child so handsome as Dwayne to the world,” Chloe whispered.

She played a titanium necklace that was coiled around Dwayne's neck. There were three of them in there.

Dimitri smiled, his gaze so tender that it made Chloe's heart flower. He was lucky to have Dimitri and Dwayne in his life. Why did he think he was going to cancel their wedding? It must be just a momentary doubt experienced by every bride-to-be.

“I still can't believe you're next to me and Dwayne. Usually every night, when Dwayne is asleep, I can only imagine you.”

“How was Chloe then? Is my nature still the same or different?”

Dimitri raised his head, propping up with his left hand. “Hmm.. You could say Chloe who used to be so fragile and delicate as Bluebells flowers. Maybe because you're human, so you look helpless to me.”

“If I am the one now?”

“If you are now like a rose. Alluring but if not careful can hurt with your sharp duri.”

Chloe hit her shoulder, “Can you! I can't believe the Destroyer would be in pain if he was hit by a little thorn of a rose.”

Dimitri holds Chloe's chin, “I'm serious. You don't even know how strong you're holding me, Chloe.”

Their eyes could not escape, like there was a magnet that made their faces closer and closer. Their lips were about to meet when a groan from the middle of their bodies blew away that harmonious atmosphere.

Little Dwayne shivered and pulled the blanket. Dimitri immediately sat on the bed and held her.

“I'll put Dwayne to bed in the next room.” After making sure his son did not wake up, Dimitri walked towards the room that was connected to their room.

Dimitri turned his head for a moment towards Chloe who was still lying on the bed looking at her future husband and son.

“Wait for me back, darling.”

The look in her eyes did not hide the sparkle of desire*rat and made Chloe anticipate what was promised from her low tone.
