Chapter 1: Date A Live

There were a few people in strange costumes flying in the sky, judging by the weapons in their hands, after the white hair shot towards me, a large number of missile-like projectiles followed, launched towards me with high accuracy.

"...no peace talks, huh?"

After saying this, I raised my hand and squeezed the attack. They don't seem to listen to me or maybe ignore me.

As I did so, the countless missiles were destroyed as if someone had squeezed them and exploded where they were.

"Don't shoot" he said.

Captain Ryoko Kusakabe, the current AST commander, also known as the Anti Spirit Team, is tasked with eliminating the threat called Spirits that appear in this world and are the main cause of the "Dimension Breakdown" that hit and destroyed the center of Eurasia, which caused at least 150 million casualties 30 years ago. Over the next 30 years, small dimensional rifts regularly shook the world.

That's why its job is to eliminate these threats in order to protect humanity. Of course, AST is not the only team doing this task, there are other organizations like DEM and others.

At first, the dimensional rift was unpredictable, but over the years and technological advances, things like "dimensional rift alarms", "protection places" and another important means of ensuring the safety of people who can be affected by dimensional rifts and phenomena like this have been created.

Ryouko then uses his sensors and tries to determine if the spirit exists or not. Realizing that there was no change to his sensors, he made a conclusion.

"Destruction confirmed, no signs of life were found. Spirit status is not confirmed and will be treated as 'lost'. The mission is over, go back and report to the superiors, as well as Master Sergeant Tobiichi Origami, we will talk later," Ryouko said as he turned around and was about to leave.

They prepared to leave, but in the final moments their return was stopped by loud screams from the spot where the "missing" target used to be.

Spirits that were supposed to be considered "missing" or leaving the area were still surprisingly in place, drawing their attention by clicking their tongues.

Ryoko along with her teammates widened their eyes when they saw her.

The spirit was fine and unharmed - that was what they expected, but this was probably the first time the Spirit tried to talk to them.

Origami, whose eyes lit up with hatred, began to aim his CR-Unit at high speed, whipping out his sword and flying forward at high speed.

The purpose of making CR-Unit is to fight an extraterrestrial, Spirit. It gives the user increased physical strength, as well as a variety of weapons. In short, Origami's strength was higher than that of an ordinary person when he wore this battle suit.

But this was not enough compared to an existence like [Spirit].

"Origami!!" Ryouko shouted as he tried to stop Origami from attacking the Spirit, but he was a second late and the girl had already unsheathed her sword and charged straight towards that spirit.

So, he swung his sword straight at the target, but something unexpected happened.

"Huh. Pretty grumpy, isn't it? Calm down a bit" said the target in a condescending tone.

The spirit that was his target, who should have been the least injured, was now holding an origami sword with just two fingers.

Origami, who was aware of the situation, immediately acted wisely. He unleashed his sword and flew as fast as he could, creating a distance between himself and the Spirit.

After glaring at his target, he then takes his gun and points it at him, preparing to shoot, but is unable to do so, as Ryoko and some of his subordinates prevent him from doing so.

"Origami! Back off! This is an order, quickly retreat!"

"But...! It is the Spirit, and it must be killed! We cannot let this scourge be left there! Isn't that what AST should be doing!"

"But...!"

"Origami!!"

Origami tries to continue the conversation, but is stopped by Ryouko's scream.

His captain's eyes were then filled with disapproval, trying to convey to Origami that his current selfish actions would lead to their deaths.

Origami knew that his selfishness would only bring unnecessary losses if they tried to fight against this unknown [Spirit]. But the Spirit is still the Spirit, and they must be cut off. After all, he swore that he would kill all spirits.

Because the same creature was the cause of his parents' death that day.

Origami then also realized that he was so angry today, that it caused him to lose his composure.

He looked straight at Ryoko and snorted as he followed her orders.

"Ughs... Okay, orders are accepted... I'm backing out."

"All right, let's get out of here as soon as possible"

They are then disturbed by the sudden pressure, overloading them to the point where they are unable to move as they keep their balance in the air.

This source looked at them with a smile, and said,

"!!" Both Origami and Ryoko glanced at the Spirit, as they realized that not only were they crippled in this state, but all their comrades were as well.

No one answered, but everyone turned their attention to the [Spirit] with an alert and hostile expression.

Seeing this, [Spirit] said, 

"Not everyone has to answer this. It's just an easy question, so don't worry. Also, if you guys don't answer this question, I'll 'destroy' all of you? Okay well? "

They all nodded instinctively, feeling the seriousness of their positions. [The spirit] this can easily kill them all if it wants to.

They all looked perplexed for just a moment before turning their gaze at the [Spirit] right in front of them.

"Well, I guess it's goodbye for now~"

Saying this in a playful tone, the [Spirit] "torn" the air, forcefully opened the dimensional gap, and entered it.

Ryoko, Origami, and all the AST members remained in their positions in confusion. It was as if a mad storm had passed, albeit briefly, bringing destruction behind it.
