Hunting Water Birds

Chapter 71

Hunting Water Birds

When dawn arrived and the sky started to turn red, Claude finally ended his second Hexagram Meditation and woke up.

Good, all three are still sound asleep. Welikro even chews, probably dreaming about eating something. Borkal on the other hand remained silent the entire time after he fainted from drinking silently. Looks like blueberry wine is more expensive than liquor for a reason. . . At least, he did not wake up in the middle of the night for something to relieve his thirst.

Eriksson rolled up in a pile of blankets and slept like a baby. He slept first. Welikro didn't feel like going to bed at that time and took on nighttime duties in the middle of the night so Claude could rest before his turn. Since it was about one o'clock in the middle of the night, Claude agreed.

However, he did not fall asleep and instead used the opportunity to meditate once. When he woke up again, an hour and a half had passed and Welikro was still fishing. However, he only had two candles for the fish skin lanterns after seven more catches.

Considering the outcome of their arrest, they did relatively well. Excluding the catch they got from purse seine, they caught more than 60 fish through fishing alone, which is estimated to be worth around seven to eight riyases. It is not surprising that fishermen say that a lucky nighttime fishing session is much more profitable than fishing during the day. Too bad they can't get a lot of fish every night like that.

Claude washed his face with cold water and asked Welikro to rest while he took over the two fishing rods. Welikro fell asleep rather quickly and started snoring not long after he put on the blanket.

His fishing skills were not as good as Welikro's. There were several times when he bit, but the fish always managed to escape. Even so, he managed to get four in the end. One of them is also a relatively expensive fish, known as the money fish. Although it was a freshwater fish, the texture of the meat was good and not too thin. In addition, scales that resembled small gold coins made it a symbol of prosperity. Many shop owners spend a lot of money to buy fish. Claude weighed about one and a half catties and could be sold for about six suns.

When Claude finished using the remaining two candles, there was no way he could continue fishing. Looking at the glass of sand, he found that it was only about forty. It was the darkest time of the night. The moon seemed to be obscured by clouds in the sky, blocking the continuous flow of silver moonlight. The lake was completely dark, with the only source of light being the candles on the fish-skin lanterns that stained the lake water in the area with a dark red color.

He thought that the lake was supposed to be safe, and his friends were sound asleep. So, he started meditating again. This time, he woke up to a very clear sky. The dawn has come.

Standing up to stretch and wipe his face, he picked up the linen towel hanging on the side of the ship, wetted it in the lake, and wiped his face with it, he said, before washing the iron pot in the lake and taking a large wooden bucket from the cabin . The bucket contained some springs that they got from the mountain stream yesterday. He filled half the pot with water and put it on an iron shelf to heat it up.

The spring bucket was something Claude insisted they carry. Eriksson thought that it was unnecessary as they would sail on the lake and would not lack water to drink. Lakewater turns fresh water. But Claude said the fishermen washed their faces and feet in the lake and even threw away the dirt in it. How can one drink from the lake? So, they agreed to buy a big bucket of springs for one sunar.

Claude prepared to make half a pot of red tea. He bought milk and honey yesterday and emptied everything into a pot. A large cup of honey-red milk tea is enough to make one relatively full and full for a while and energized throughout the day.

However, before Claude had time to spend one cup of heat, Eriksson woke up from the scent. Rubbing his eyes, he said, "What smells good?"

Claude poured a cup for her too. The two of them sipped their tea slowly as they watched the mountains and hills and wetlands near the lake.

Dawn looked like a beautiful veil gently swung across the sky, dyeing the plain white clouds into varied gradients and red skies. It became somewhat bright and fresh breeze blew across the surface of the lake, bringing with it the cry of birds flying around the wetlands. They swirled in the sky, with some spreading their wings to rise higher while others descended to the reeds.

"The weather seems a bit good tonight" Eriksson said.

When Claude almost agreed, Eriksson asked, "What are we going to have for breakfast?"

"Umm .." Claude had no idea how Eriksson attributed the good weather to what they were going to eat for breakfast, causing him to be unable to answer in time.

"Well ..Eyke, there's a lot of ingredients in the cabin, but there's not much we can eat for breakfast" Claude said with a sigh, "We forgot to bring the pot. I was thinking of making steak and eggs in the morning, but I don't find any pan now. We did bring pots, barbecue shelves, and stoves, but I forgot the pot completely. "

Eriksson remained silent. That should be his responsibility. Everything in the cabin was his and he forgot to bring the pot on board. His mind was filled with thoughts of enjoying the roasted wings, so he only remembered to bring along the barbecue shelf and a few other things. It really is a tragedy.

"When the two of them got up and finished the tea, I would cook another pot of flour soup," Claude said after some consideration. They cannot eat grilled meat in the morning because it will upset their stomach. They are only limited to what they can make with a pot.

Borkal finally woke up and looked well rested. He greeted the other two loudly and poured himself a large cup of tea and began to gulp it down.

Eriksson looked at him angrily before going to the stern with an audible humph.

Confused, Borkal asked, "What's wrong with her?"

Claude shook his head. "Boa, is this the night fishing event you dreamed of? You just get drunk with a bottle of blueberry wine and sleep all the time without helping at all. The three of us were tired because of what we did last night. Do you know why Eriksson is angry at you now? "

Borkal looked very awkward. "Sorry, Claude. I didn't know I was going to get drunk. Blueberry wine tastes too good and I drank too much before I realized."

"After all you can't drink much .." Welikro got up and joined them for tea. The warmth was fitting, perfect to swallow it in a big gulp.

"There's still half a bottle of blueberry wine inside. Eyke and I don't drink, so there's still two bottles in the cabin. You can bring them back and enjoy them at home. That sweet wine is something that women love. I'm not "I know it'll tickle your favorite, so don't hesitate to keep the rest. Your tolerance for alcohol is too weak for you to get drunk from half a bottle. I really don't know why you're the one who keeps bothering us. We drink all day, "welikro tease.

Claude decided to act as an intermediary between them. "Alright, Wero, finish your tea and keep your words to yourself. We still have to use this pot for breakfast. We forgot to bring the pot."

After an hour of busy work, they finally finished breakfast. After packing their belongings, Eriksson sailed a boat to collect the net they used. Their catch this time was good. They catch about 20 fish and have over a hundred in total in their living wells.

After dropping the purse seine into the lake, they proceeded to approach the wetlands to hunt some water birds and wild ducks. Claude pulled out two guns from the cabin and asked, "Who wants to go first?"

Welikro said, "Let Boa start first. I'll go fishing for a minute."

Eriksson put the boat half-sailing and used the wind to steer them closer to the reeds. They were all silent and lying flat on the boat, looking to the sides in front to prevent the attention of the birds feeding among the reeds.

"There" whispered Welikro. There is a group of******searching for food in the water a few hundred meters away.

Being in a parallel world is amazing. . . In his previous life, hunting****** was punishable by three years in prison. Claude leaned against the side of the ship with his weapon and aimed in a kneeling position. He reminded Borkal slowly, "I'll shoot the left and you the right. Remember that."

At a distance of a hundred meters,***** appears to Claude no larger than a few soybeans, although the size is rather large. The reed that danced with the wind only made aiming much more difficult.

When he heard the explosion, Claude hurriedly pulled the trigger and caused a slow match to contact the pan flash cover.

Bam! Two loud bangs could be heard as white smoke drifted from the weapon

"That's not to be!" welikro exclaimed anxiously.

Both of their shots did not hit the enemy and disrupted the silence in the nearby area, causing countless birds to chirp and flutter.

"Why did you shoot before aiming properly ?!" claude shouted furiously. If it wasn't for Borkal pulling the trigger first, he could have taken better aim before shooting than pulling the trigger frantically.

"I'm .. I've tried to aim ..." Borkal tried to make excuses for himself.

"Whatever, let me shoot first," Claude wouldn't argue with him. They did not practice shooting frequently from a distance of a hundred meters, so it was only expected for them to miss. "Eyke, move forward a little more. I think the birds stopped deeper between the reeds."

Claude fired seven shots in total and got only one wild duck and one ******. Borkal on the other hand fired ten and hit nothing. In the end, he threw his weapon down in anger and took Welikro's fishing rod from him. During the hunt, Welikro managed to catch more than ten fish.

Eriksson maneuvered by fishing boat through the reeds and finally managed to take two shots of Claude's prey. Fortunately, they had punt poles more than four meters long that they used to pull dead birds towards them out of the reeds.

Welikro then removed the sight from the gun. Now that Claude and he were on the hunt, their effectiveness had improved tremendously. The wetlands are a paradise for birds. Although many of them were struck by the loud bangs, they remained calm, giving Claude and Welikro more than enough targets to shoot. However, they looked very small from a distance.

After much work, the two only killed seven more birds in total. They are missed more often than they are hit. Eriksson also came in to make a few shots and not hit anything like Borkal.

Borkal stopped fishing and mocked Eriksson after he did not hit a bird. The two of them started arguing again.

At that moment, Claude and Welikro took the last bird from the water into the ship. Most of the birds had already flown by then, so they decided to take a break.

Hearing Borkal and Eriksson arguing endlessly, Welikro said, "Hey, just compete to find out who's blind."

While that sounds like a good idea, they have no targets to aim for. Borkal looked around and finally found something. He pointed to the front of the ship and said, "Look, over there! There was a piece of wood in the water in front. Let's aim and shoot."

A long piece of wood looked like bark. It floated almost above the surface of the water and not much of the area was affected. It was about 200 meters from the ship.

"Alright, let's aim for that piece of wood," Eriksson agreed, "The person who scores the fewest hits is the blind."

Welikro returned the sight and recalibrated them while Claude handed over his weapon to Eriksson. The two then shot more than ten shots at the piece of wood. However, it was too far away and the piece of wood was more like a line than a precise target. It was hard to tell whether they hit him or not, so the two began to argue again.

After a while, Borkal looked up and said, "That's weird .. Why is that piece of wood getting closer and closer? There's no wind at all here."

Welikro turned to look and was flabbergasted, but he quickly snapped out of his stupidity. "Hurry, go! This is not a piece of wood! It's the crocodile niro!"
