I don't know how many times Athene stared at her reflection in front of the mirror accompanied by a satisfied decak. His mind drifted back, recalling the debutante show that lately often disrupted his mind.
*Everyone seems to enjoy classical music and the offerings provided. However, Athene, the woman in a light blue dress, checked the entrance several times. It should have been at this hour that the Grand Duke was already present because the main event was about to start but until this second, Athene had not seen its existence.
Not wanting the Odyssey to precede him, Athene ran outside. Got a carriage symbolizing the Brighton flag, not thinking twice that Athene had approached it. And sure enough, the person he was looking for was still in it, alone in the dark with another man whose face was not foreign enough to Athene.
"Your Grace."
The two men inside the carriage were shocked, as if caught off guard doing something far from moral.
Two men. Secretly in the same car. Surprised to see his presence.
"I'll go first."
In an instant, the man who was originally with the Grand Duke left, fused in the darkness until it was lost in the distance.
Athena could not think clearly. All the negative possibilities had already sprung up in his brain. With wide eyes, one of his hands shut his mouth and his steps slowly retreated.
"Jour Grace ... Do you and that man ... have an illicit relationship?"
"Lady de Cera!" The Grand Duke seemed to want to explain something before Athene turned around and ran back into the main hall*.
At least that's what's been rocking Athene lately. He still did not expect, the handsome Grand Duke who was in great demand by the high-class woman turned out to be a different man. Now Athene himself did not wonder why the Grand Duke always refused to be betrothed.
But Athene didn't take any more questions from the Grand Duke. It's up to him to like a fellow man or whatever, Athene doesn't care as long as she can be the Grand Duchess. That'sthat's all.
Athene had the man's dead card. If the Grand Duke doesn't want to marry her.
Then Athene will spread the true disgrace of the Grand Duke.
...----------------...
"Welcome, Your Grace."
The warm welcome the Marquis threw at him made Alastair smile faintly. Relax, this is just the beginning. Alastair has yet to portray his role as a good son-in-law.
Marquis Thompsville as the owner of the manor house took the first step, allowing his special guests to look at his incomparable luxury house in Thompsville. Cupid sculpts decorate many gypsum ornaments dyed ivory white, look so elegant and stunning. A giant light seemed to hang in the middle of the room, just like the princess' palace in a children's fairy tale book.
"For a long time not to meet you, Marquis," Alastair said.
Marquis Thompsville invited them to sit on one of the luxurious sofas that are in harmony with this room, ivory white. He then smiled knot.
"Lately I rarely go to the palace for health reasons" he said, sitting directly across from Alastair and Oconner, who happened to also come along. "You know for yourself, right. My age is not as good as yours. Soon, it will be the young Lord de Cera who will take my place in this house."
"I think so too. Your son has learned a lot, I am sure he will be able to replace the head of the main family here," replied Alastair who was met with a death gaze by Ochonner.
Alastair raised his eyebrows as if saying what-me-doing-mistake?
"In that case, I don't have to worry." Marquis Thompsville chuckled lightly. "By the way, Your Grace. What's the problem until you bother to visit our little house?"
Very down. Okay, not bad. Alastair can still understand him.
"I came here to take care of something."
"Oh yeah, what would that be if I could know?"
"I want to propose to your daughter."
There was silence in the white room. But from his supervision, Alastair knew that there was a servant who ran in when he heard his words just now.
"For whom was the proposal addressed?"
"Lady Brietta Odyssey de Cera, Crystal Lady. I want it."
"But you know for yourself .. he is not here," replied the puzzled Marquis Thompsville. "I can't be sure if he'll agree with this proposal or not."
"I've already bagged the answer, all I need now is permission from you, Marquis. As Lady Odyssey's real father, I respect you."
As Lady Odyssey's biological father, I respect you.
The words Alastair chose were so sweet at Marquis Thompsville's hearing. He was very polite and felt appreciated. Who can resist the respect of the number one man in Brighton? There aren't. Therefore, without a second thought Marquis Thompsville nodded quickly.
"I am honoring your relationship with my daughter, Lady Odyssey de Cera."
Alastair silently smiled in oblique fashion. Marquis Thompsville ..from long ago, this man almost never changed. Always rush to conclusions and want instant things like fame.
But thanks to his haste that Alastair can get his blessing easily.
Alastair glanced at Ochonner. "How, Lord de Cera. Are you willing to bear witness to Marquis Thompsville's words just now?"
Ochonner nodded confidently. "If it's Marquis Thompsville's decision, then I listen to him. But to get my blessing from me, you can't get it easily."
"No problem, next time I'll make sure you're sure of your brother."
Hearing Alastair's level of confidence made Ochonner roll his eyeballs.
Alastair again said, "For that, Marquis. I brought you a little present."
Alastair hinted at his men to bring in the gold crates they had brought directly from Brighton. Twenty-five chests were now piled up inside the manor house. Looking at that many objects, Marquis Thompsville could not bear to ask.
"Grand Duke, what's this much stuff?"
"I brought Brighton's natural products in the form of gemstones, gold, and other mines. I hope you will be happy," replied Alastair lightly.
"The gemstones?!" Marquis Thompsville immediately approached the chests with sparkling eyes. Aish, if you don't have to work anymore, it feels like living as long as anything will be safe as long as all these treasures belong to him.
And the Grand Duke only wants the Odyssey? Ha, just take it!
"Good day, Your Grace. Sorry for greeting you just because I just got word that you came here."
The great mistress de Cera, Marchioness Thompsville looked down the steps gracefully. Her steps stopped when she saw her husband was already with a pile of worthless treasures.
"Gosh, what is it that the Grand Duke willingly bothered to bring along so many precious items like this?" tanyanya pretended to be surprised.
"Applicable. The Grand Duke will propose to our daughter" replied Marquis Thompsville glad not to be a bitch.
"really? I am very honored to have a besan like His Majesty the King and the Queen before him" said the Marchioness and sat on a single sofa, next to Ochonner.
Alastair becomes increasingly aware that Marquis Thompsville is a lover of precious treasures. If this is the case, it won't be difficult to get his wish. "Crystal Lady is still busy in Brighton so she can't come with me here. For the show, leave it to me. I'll handle everything until you're satisfied."
"Why should Lady Odyssey, while you can get better like—"
"Your Grace, is that you?"
Marchioness's rebuttal was stalled. The four people in the room turned their heads together with the cry of a woman who stepped cheerfully from one of the doors connecting the hallways. Athene in a red dress, seemed to match her pink mane.
"Are my guesses right, that you came here to propose?"
Alastair nodded. "I'm sure you know it from the servants."
Athene could not help but smile broadly. Himself wins. Soon she will be the Grand Duchess, the powerful man in Brighton. Athene had thought far, when she had officially become the legal wife of the Grand Duke, she would not hesitate to drive the Odyssey and its rotten shop out of her territory. If necessary, get out of Sormenia.
Make it poor until the Odyssey loses face. It was the best form of revenge.
"Is there anything funny until you smile like that? Good news today, soon the Grand Duke will be your sister-in-law, brother." Ochonner chimed in after becoming aware of Athene's strange demeanor.
"What does that mean?!" Athene took one step back. He looked at the Marchioness who was now looking back at him resignedly.
Right, kan. The Grand Duke wanted to propose to Odyssey, not Athene. Why does this woman have so much self-confidence?
Athene did not accept!
"Grand Duke .. we need to speak four eyes" he said.
