Like a Former Nail
Episodes 7.1

The incident in the third week turned out to be fruitful, showing the consequences of the cause that had been done. Like a saying that is often said by the ancients: trampled charcoal yarn, black palm. Whoever makes a mistake, he alone bears the consequences. And this is where Gebri and the Mother are, in the living room with the magnificent interior of the Fernandez family after a month since he told Rion about something growing in his stomach.

Chief Gebri did not dare to look up, feeling very intimidated from the two pairs of husband and wife eyes sitting in front of him. Moreover, the head of the eagle-eyed teenager was also bowed without taking out a word. While the aura in the guest room–which used to make Gebri mesmerized–more tense. In addition, Rasti seemed firm with his request, a request from a form of accountability that is indeed worthy to be demanded and accounted for.

Two days ago, Rasti took her to the doctor, more precisely forcing Gebri to go to one of the nearby clinics. He often saw Gebri vomiting in the morning with his face that often paled. Initially Gebri tries to resist, but Rasti continues to urge and eventually inevitably he has to fulfill the wishes of the middle-aged woman, until the secret of the lifeless figure that had been residing in his stomach was revealed and the contents made Rasti fixated on his seat which was right in front of a woman in a white suit.

“Yon, take Gebri to the backyard!”

Gebri's head slightly raised, turning toward the source of the sound coming out of the only adult male in the classy room. Rion seemed to slightly nod his head before standing up and stepping foot without turning his head towards Gebri.

“Go!”

The Mother's soft voice resuscitated the thick-browed girl from her attitude to look at Rion's departure, then say goodbye and overtake the man who today uses Adidas-branded training pants and black T-shirts.

They were both silent, with their heads bowed, as if to consider this poolside ceramic floor more attractive in their eyes. Time keeps rolling, but two young people of the opposite kind are still silent. Once upon a time there were heavy breaths coming out of their mouths. Actually Gebri wants to ask a lot of things, about Rion's opinion on the seeds of the results of their illicit activities, about the actions that he should have–not just him, but they–to solve this big problem, this big problem, also about their future that must have been no longer in accordance with the plan that has been prepared. I don't know why these lips are locked. The Meetings. Let the silence rule.

“Geb, we go home now!” Suddenly Rasti was already beside them, with a worried face and a mobile phone still clasped.

“Why, Bun?”

“Your sister was hit by a car. We have to go to the hospital now.”

Gebri kept getting up from his lounge chair, selflessly not even looking at Rion, he immediately followed the bespectacled woman who was walking hurriedly. While passing through the living room, both of Rion's parents were seen still sitting with confused gazes. Gebri slightly nodded his head as a form of politeness. Although their relationship can be said to be very bad, parents are still parents who must be respected.

After getting a little stuck in the traffic because it was a young boy's night, Gebri and Rasti finally reached the hospital lobby and headed straight for the administrative and general sections, asked about the location of Galang's room to one of the women with a brown shoulder, and the news was conveyed by the woman in white dominant uniform suddenly shook their hearts and brains. Really did not expect–padahat before being left in one of the neighboring houses, the twelve-year-old boy seemed happy to play with Angga who is also a close friend at his school–akan become a hit-and-run victim of irresponsible people.

For most people, as well as Gebri and his mother, the ICU or Intensive Care Unit room is a very creepy room, haunted by the fear of death angels who are ready to pick up. When he arrived at the room that was set quite far from the diner, a man had just walked out from behind the door and Rasti went straight to him. They talked to each other, apparently Rasti showed a tense and worried face, and a moment later hurriedly left the doctor.

“Mother! Mother!”

Gebri tries to call the woman before disappearing behind the environment. He tried to catch up, but the bunda was already nowhere to be seen anymore. Finally Gebri decided to return to the front of the ICU room, sitting in one of the trellis waiting chairs. Nearly three hours later, Rasti had returned with a face full of relief. But as both of his eyeballs stared at Gebri's bead eyes, the glowing aura that had surrounded him suddenly turned grim. Even the bespectacled woman quickly broke eye contact between them.

“How are things going, Bun? Is she okay?”

Actually Gebri again wanted to ask, but soon undone with a frown. Wonder. Not usually Rasti behaved like this, looking cold and impressed as if fed up with seeing his face. Though she is a friendly figure who likes to shine with a variety of topics that can be told, like other housewives. But Gebri tried to think positively. Perhaps the middle-aged woman who was bowing her head was looking forward to anxiety, her son who had been raised alone was struggling to live, so it is natural that such an unusual attitude suddenly arises.

Suddenly the head of Rasti who had been bowed with a twitch of mind that filled his mind slightly raised, looked at Gebri's face with teary eyes, and then said with a little wiry, and then said a little, ”Mother wishes you kept secret who the father of the fetus was. Mommy no longer wants to deal with the Fernandez family.”

Gebri wants to ask, ”Why?” but what came out of his mouth was precisely the word, “Alright.”

Silent. No more talking happened until a slightly overgrown man walked out of the room in front of them. And Gebri's relationship with the Mother began to change from that day on. Rasti never smiled at him again, even every speech was always answered with a short answer or just a nod or a headband. Rasti is also always reluctant to be in the same room as Gebri and the thin-lipped girl begins to realize, concluding that all her actions are a form of hatred for her sinful deeds, a sin that may be unforgivable because it was pregnant out of wedlock and made his family's big name tarnished.

^_^

Indeed, Gebri wanted to shout that the child in his womb is the son of Rion Michael Fernandez. In order not only himself to be blamed, stared at with a low and full of contempt, treated like rotten garbage that must be avoided. But the promise to Rasti a few days ago became a chain that so entangled him, forcing him to always shut his mouth so that the name of the man was not thrown out.

While the other perpetrators who should have also contributed to feel all forms of ridicule obtained by Gebri, just look from a distance without acting anything. At first he did not expect that Rion would behave like this, acting like a loser man. But one's heart is unpredictable, no one knows but the Creator, and according to Gebri there are only two reasons why the teenage boy can leave it like this. Rion is young, still in his teens and the responsibility towards Gebri and the baby will be a burden. After all who will give up all the luxuries that are obtained easily? Nothing, neither does Rion.

Gebri also knew of the many consequences he would receive for the forbidden act of the day, but the principal's decision took him seriously. Even though he really hopes the school to give a little tolerance, considering that three more days of their school will hold the National Examination. Gebri tried to beg, hoping for mercy, but perhaps this time God was angry with him. The request was not granted in the slightest.

Mother, that figure is his last hope. But once again that disappointment must eat away at Gebri's heart. Rasti did act, went to school and faced Mr. Rohman who was the principal at Junior High School 216 Jakarta, but the results obtained remained the same. He must not take the National Examination for the reason that he has humiliated the school and Gebri can only submit himself, accepting all the consequences that come and go.

“Where to, Ma'am?” asked Galang when he saw Gebri in front of the terrace.

Gebri stopped briefly putting up his sandals. “Mbak want to buy rujak fruit.”

“Let me buy it, Ma'am,” bargain Rion while rising from the rattan bench located in front of the window.

“Do not. Buy it yourself. The place is also close to here.”

“Tapi—”

“Mbak go first. Keep the house for a while!” said Gebri who immediately moved away.

During her pregnancy, Gebri always tried to meet her needs alone, both from fulfilling the baby's wishes to activities such as going to the obstetrician. As much as possible he did not want to trouble his mother, let alone the relationship with Rasti getting worse. They rarely speak unless necessary. Some families on the part of the late father and his mother began to have no respect anymore. The neighbors also began to scorn and scold now. Not only was he the target, Rasti and Galang were also affected by his disgrace.
