Chapter 24 - A Glimpse of Hope

Three days later,

Karennina is preparing for her first hearing with her ex-husband Erick Shin. Accompanied by Rangga who became his legal representative. Nina gave everything to Rangga. Rangga clasped tightly onto Nina's hand as she realized the anxiety of the woman he loved so much.

Erick continued to stare at Nina during the trial.

Why am I so stupid to let go of the most beautiful woman I've tried to be the best for her.

"Karen..." Erick called Nina as soon as their first trial was over.

Nina tries to ignore the call but Erick forces by pulling Nina's arm.

"You must not be insolent!!" Nina Maki.

Bugs!

Rangga roughly pulled back Nina.

"He's not yours, I've given up first, but not this time!!" Rangga's words made Erick speechless.

"I just want to talk for a moment..."

"I promise I'm not doing anything.. I miss Jimmy even more..."

"He doesn't want to see you... He hates you!!" Rangga is back.

However Nina calmed Rangga down and spoke to give them some time together for a moment.

"But Karen!!"

"Ga, maybe that way she'll give me custody soon..."

"Because you know that bastard never softened!!"

"If so why did he let you go for 2 years and come back after you now?!"

"Where do you know he's after me?!"

Rangga was speechless, he still looked annoyed by Nina's decision.

"After all, he's Jimmy's biological father."

Rangga touched Nina's face, the woman stared at the nanar.

Nina follows Erick and picks up Jimmy. In the car Erick tried to melt the atmosphere.

"For what?"

"Everything..."

"Slow!"

Erick swallows his saliva about him parking at Nina's designated spot, Nina comes out to pick up Jimmy and tells Nanny to go back to their apartment.

"Father!" Jimmy was surprised.

"Jimmys... Forgive papa..."

Jimmy hugged his mother. "You can see for yourself Jimmy doesn't want to be with you anymore!!"

"You've given me 2 years to look after him... But you wasted it."

"I'm guilty..."

Both went back through the streets of the capital. Hanssel had contacted Nina's phone but Nina ignored it at this time. They had arrived at one of the famous playgrounds in the capital.

"Why did you come here, Mom?" Ask Jimmy.

To be honest, Nina also did not know what her ex-husband was planning.

"Mom doesn't understand either..." Nina looked at Erick.

"Darling, I'm sorry, didn't you promise to take you to the playground?"

Jimmy nodded doubtfully.

He opened the door and went out to the ticket counter. Erick finally paid for their ticket after a previous scramble.

Nina took Jimmy down she let her son run around. Erick curled his smile.

Erick bought him a character hat and a hot air balloon.

"Jimmy, papa buy this you want?"

"M-take..." Jimmy's doubts held it all up and put it on.

Erick ruffled Jimmy's hair, without feeling his heart was filled especially when his son happily received what he gave then ran around with joy.

Nina left Erick still restless stunned.

How stupid I am to throw you guys out...

Erick got up and chased after Nina. He gave Nina a hat so as not to overheat considering the day was already very hot.

"Where's lunch?" Ask Erick.

"OK..."

"Where do you work?"

"In a place where I am cherished..."

"......."

"Karen..." Erick tried asking seriously.

"All I did for Jimmy's sake, after this we'll never see each other again..." Nina stopped her steps speaking coldly then passed leaving Erick.

Erick was amazed by his ex-wife.

"You used to be very friendly, cheerful and gentle. Even when I'm hurting you don't show any resistance..."

"You're willing to be kicked out by your extended family.."

"If it wasn't my mother's incitement, maybe we'd still be together!"

Erick stared at Nina's departure by continuing to see the woman's back guarding their son.

In a fast-paced resto, Nina confronts Erick and Jimmy next to her. Jimmy was busy putting in all his favorite fries and burgers.

"Nina... I'm not gonna fight for custody with you..."

"Good then... We're not gonna waste any time following that trial." Nina said coldly.

"But on condition..."

Nina fell silent. "You dare to throw terms with me?"

"Karen, I only want to see you once every 2 weeks..."

"For what else?"

"You have your own family, don't you?!"

"Karen, Jimmy is still my son forever will be my son!! My blood runs through his body."

"I'm sorry I married you Erick!!" Nina spilled her disappointment.

Nina stood up and invited Jimmy to finish their lunch.

Erick tries to catch up to Nina's footsteps, but Nina quickly blends in with the crowd and Erick loses track of her.

Nina sobbed all the way then her steps came to a halt....

"Hanssel..."

"I think what makes you ignore my call!!"

"It turns out to be just a useless person from the Shin family!"

"I tracked you down and found you crying all the way with Jimmy I'll make sure tomorrow..."

"Not right now am I going to kill him!!"

Hanssel rushes past Nina, but soon Nina prevents him.

"NO! HANSSEL WAIT!!"

"I have other plans..."

"I promised myself that 3 years ago I would take all my pain away from them!"

"I'll make them pick up every single tear drop I've let out with a vengeance that will make them aware of their mistake!"

Nina still broke into tears holding Hanssel's arm. I don't know why the man felt so painful and sick. Hanssel gently rubbed Nina's wet face. Then he looked down at Jimmy who was sobbing silently wiping his tears with his tiny hands.

"Jimmy, from now on, Papa Hanssel will be your father... Papa Hanssel promised to make you and your mother happy..."

"We're going home okay?"

Jimmy smiled a nod then hugged the man in front of him. Hanssel held the tiny man and held Nina's hand out of the play area. Nina's heart was filled with Hanssel's current attitude.

Why did he come in when I was feeling down like this. Maybe he's my life saver...

Hanssel's grip tightened on Nina's fingers.
