Chapter 8 – Stone Beads
Tie Zhu was pale as he got up and looked around. He discovered that he was in a small natural cave. Sunlight peered through the cave entrance, revealing a floor covered with the bones of birds and beasts.
On the wall behind him was a black hole the size of a fist. He could not tell how deep this small hole was, but on closer examination one mystery was solved. The tensile strength that sucked him into the cave earlier came from this hole. The animals that came from the scattered bones were sucked like him.
The suction of the hole should be spontaneous. As he appears in front of this cave during his fall, a mysterious hole pulls him in and saves his life. Tie Zhu, enduring the pain in his right arm, was about to walk out of the cave when the bones on the ground suddenly started moving towards the hole. He quickly rolled into a corner of the cave without a moment's delay as he felt the wind behind him.
An unimaginable sucking force suddenly came from the small hole. All the bones trembled as they flew towards the hole. Some of the larger bones get stuck in the blocking wall, small holes.
At that moment, a bird was sucked in while flying near the entrance of the cave. He rippled through the air until he scattered into the cave wall.
After about an hour, the force stopped pulling. Wang Lin stared in horror at the corpse of the bird that had just died. He did not move his body at all, just sat still, while counting the time.
Half an hour later, the suction started again. This was repeated several times. Wang Lin had understood the timing of the strange suction hole. It will start sucking every 30 minutes for 60 minutes.
Taking advantage of the time gap between suctioning, Wang Lin painstakingly crawled towards the entrance of the cave. As he looked down, he could not help but reveal a bitter smile. Beneath it was a forest, and the barely visible land was covered with rocks. The cliff was extremely steep, it was impossible for him to descend with his broken arm. The distance from the ground was measured over several dozen meters. If he tried to jump down, it would definitely be the end.
A bag of food was left on the top of the mountain with no way for him to pick it up. Nowadays food is the most important problem that it has to solve. As he pondered, he suddenly recalled the suction time and rushed back to the corner of the cave.
Time in the outside world seemed to pass quickly. Wang Lin could feel his body growing weaker and weaker. He had no feeling in his arms, it was completely numb. He smiled bitterly as he said to himself, "Stuck here means a slow death, but jumping would be an instant death. ”
He looked at the bloody bird corpse that had been sucked in earlier. With a slight hesitation, he walked over, picked it up, and reluctantly bit it. Feels terrible. He exhaled as the raw meat in his mouth flooded his senses, but then continued to eat it.
He barely chewed the meat, choosing to swallow it almost whole. Tie Zhu felt a warmth enter his stomach as it churned. He ate the bird quickly in a large bite, then he stood up and took a deep breath to prevent himself from vomiting.
He threw the remains of the bird to the side and sat down on the cave wall. His mind wandered, one moment thinking about his parents, one moment thinking about his fourth uncle, one moment thinking about the faces mocking his relatives, and one time he even thought about the cold eyes of the black-clothed middle-aged man from Heng. Yue Sect's.
In a trance, Wang Lin stared at the half-eaten corpse of the bird. Without batting an eye, he took the corpse for closer inspection. He saw that inside the bird's carcass was a red bead the size of the first baby. He was very surprised when he took it out of the carcass.
Why is there a bead on the body of this bird? Wang Lin's heart was pounding as he thought of a book that the teacher in his village had once shown. Some animals live much older, and something called dantian will form inside their bodies.
When he saw the description, he did not believe it, and secretly ridiculed it, but now he could not help but believe in the myths and legends a little more after meeting the immortal beings.
Wang Lin's heart was pounding hard enough to fly out of his chest. If this bead was really the dantian described in the book, then eating it would not only heal his wounds quickly, but would also make it easy to leave this place. Even passing the test to join the Heng Yue Sect should be possible, at least he would be able to pass the persistence test.
But the bead was very difficult. It doesn't seem to be edible. He used some ragged cloth on his body to clean it, restoring its original color.
The gray bead, with five clouds carved on it, was revealed. It looks very old. Wang Lin was very disappointed, unwilling to give up, he bit the bead, then secretly laughed at himself. "Tie Zhu, you're too delusional. How could some random bird that happened to fly have a dantian? ”
Wang Lin sighed. It's dark outside. He felt tired and fell asleep with beads on his side and beast bones covering the floor.
Since it was falling now, its temperature dropped very quickly, especially in the mountainous regions. Cold air entered Wang Lin's body. He curled up, and the night passed quickly.
The next morning, sunlight peeked out from outside the cave at sunrise. A few drops of glittering dew were removed from the bead on Wang Lin's side. As the dew gathered, the droplets dripped onto the nearby bones.
After a while, Wang Lin woke up. Not only was his arm still swollen, his condition was also getting worse. Wang Lin sat on the floor, feeling extremely depressed.
Wang Lin muttered to himself, "Am I going to be stuck here all my life?" He slowly turned his head and noticed the dew that was piling up on the bones. Out of thirst, he carefully took out some bones and licked the dew from them.
The sweetness of the dew is pretty good. He did not know if he was imagining it, but his entire body felt warm and comfortable after drinking it.
Especially injuries to his arm. There is a feeling of comfort and itching as the swelling decreases. Wang Lin rubbed his eyes, and looked at his arm. The swelling has already come down. He quickly looked at the surrounding bones but could not find any more with dew on them.
At that moment, he suddenly noticed the beads and saw dewdrops on them. He remembered that all the bones that had dew on them were next to the beads. He gently picked up the bead, with his heart pounding, and rolled the beads on his arm to spread the dew evenly.
Waves of cold and refreshing feeling came from the arms. Wang Lin stared at his arm without batting an eye. After a while, his eyes lit up. The swelling from the arm has gone down. He tried to wave his hand. Although there was still pain, it was no big deal.
"This stone manic should be a treasure!" Wang Lin was surprised.
