A Korean Odyssey
EP 01 - 2: DEMONS AND GHOST IDOLS

A quarter of a century later, there are not many more thatch and forest left. Buildings compete with each other in terms of height, luxury, and selling price. Two parties are discussing the sale of a building. A man in his early 40s was stalling for the arrival of his CEO who was still on his way— to the three parents of the building owner.

The only woman among them said, "I heard, the CEO of Hanbit Real Estate is still very young. How did he get so rich?" tanyanya— has said the CEO plans to buy the entire building.

Lee Han Joo—asisten CEO—also know less about it. While working for him, he knew very little: that his CEO was well known and that was because his CEO had great instincts.

"Which way, whose name is it?" this woman forgot to remember.

"The name is ..."

...Just then, the door of the room opened and a pair of black boots stepped coldly together with a yellow umbrella with a white bottle. She was a woman with sharp but firm eyes, long hair tied straight, black clothes that looked stiff, and a straight, almost empty look. He is ... "Well, this is the CEO of Hanbit Real Estate, JIN SUN MI. Yeah, clap!" lee Han Joo exclaimed, and was not joined by the slightest applause.

Han Joo immediately led the introduction. "Daephyo-nim, they are the owners of the building" he said.

"Annyeong haseyo." The three oldest people in the room gave a very polite greeting, but BLARK—salam they were replied with the umbrella tambourine right in front of the face. How shocked everyone was, except Jin Sun Mi— who dropped the umbrella.

"Lee Han Joo-ssi, how many people are in this room?" sun Mi asked, coldly.

Clumsyly, Han Joo answered the question—which he thought was ridiculous—it. "Five tails.." he joked.

Sun Mi focuses on pairs of legs. With the help of a yellow umbrella, he calculated: a pair of legs belonging to him, belonging to Lee Han Joo, belonging to three other people, and. "There's another one here" he said, still cold.

Han Joo was nervous. "W-what?"

"Now I understand why this building is sold so cheaply" he said, to himself. Sun Mi spoke to the owner of the building, "There must be a lot of entrepreneurs who failed while using this building, right?"

The building owner immediately denied. "Oh, that's just gossip. Actually this building is not a problem at all."

Sun Mi closed the umbrella instantly. "I'll sign the sale contract" he said, cool.

So a while later, the contract signing was really done—by Lee Han Joo. While Jin Sun Mi took a serious walk in the room with EYES THAT ARE VERY FOCUSED looking at every corner. And he dropped his PROFOUND seriousness on a silent vault. This behavior caught the attention of the building owners.

Clumsy, Lee Han Joo melted the atmosphere. "Daephyonim, we're done. Let's go?"

Jin Sun Mi said, "Go first. I still have a little business in this room." He did not take his eyes off the vault— made the wonder of the building owners.

Lee Han Joo— who has often witnessed the odd behavior of his CEO— led the building owners to leave the room with advice: no need to be curious about anything the CEO is and will do alone in the room. They left Sun Mi there.

Unheard of Han Joo who advised that he would return after buying coffee, Sun Mi gave up on the vault. But as he sighed and rested his tensed eye muscles, DARKNESS EMERGED FROM THAT VAULT.

Sun Mi widened, stepping back with the yellow umbrella open. Darkness was crawling and flailing—with his foul hands—on Sun Mi who barked timidly. Then the darkness rose, brushed off Sun Mi's yellow umbrella, put on a cold face behind her long black hair, and screamed in the wind.

There was one more weapon in Sun Mi's hand: red beans. With an adorable emotion, Sun Mi pelted the female ghost with red beans many times.

"Ah, ouch. Be ill. It hurts!" the female ghost complained, raised her hands, retreated back and forth, and finally the darkness within the room disappeared instantly.

Now the ghost sits sweetly on the sofa and Sun Mi ties her long hair with a pink ribbon. "Well, this way, you don't look scary anymore" said Sun Mi, sitting opposite the ghost.

Ghosts don't talk.

Sun Mi concluded, "So, you died from a strict diet in order to audition for an idol? Hm, you must be really hungry." then Sun Mi reached into her bag and found a biscuit that was still neatly packed. Sun Mi tore it up and fed it to the ghost. He also found sweets. Voluntarily, he gave the candy to the ghost. Then he asked the ghost to sing. Sun Mi enjoyed the ghostly singing.

"Ah, this is creepy." muttered Lee Han Joo—who apparently witnessed almost the entire interaction of Sun Mi with something invisible to her eyes— behind the door. "Well, survival is hard. If my savings are a lot, I'll just stop ah." He shuddered, then closed the door of the room without making a sound.

Sun Mi asked the ghost, "Do you have any fairy acquaintances?"

Sun Mi said, "It used to be that I was careless to make a contract with an evil fairy, and now the face of that evil fairy can barely be remembered. I considered it a dream, too."

Sun Mi is desperate, but her fate may not be worse than the fate of the ghosts in front of her. Sun Mi gives him an idea: possess a teenage girl and audition a highly desirable idol, so the ghostly spirit can calm down and return to the afterlife. And the ghost approved of the idea.

She left for an idol audition, looking for a teenage girl—who was beautiful, slim, and was careless—to be possessed. And when his turn came, he sang a sad song with a high-low tone that varied enough. He maximizes his singing ability.

Well, now let's hear the jury's opinion about this contestant Lee Da In" the host said.

Comments were started by a judge who sat in the right seat of the fat-statured—, dressed casually, with glasses, and a aura of classical musician—Kim Hyung Suk. He said, "Your singing is good enough, but .. please be aware that singing with energy and singing without energy makes no difference. And for me, you're still lacking. Sorry, you didn't get away with it." And the cross was plastered big and red on the screen. Audition audiences regretted his decision.

The next comment is from a jury sitting in the left seat— who wears a suit, tie, glasses without glass, and aura successful businessman—Kim Yeon Woo. He said, "I didn't feel any emotion in your performance and I don't want you to perform anymore. I'm sorry." Once again, affectionate cheers filled the audition stage.

And the last comment was from a judge sitting in the middle seat of— who wore a green suit with a bow tie, tall, and mustachioed—Woo Hwi, a creature who claimed to be a fairy to Sun Mi a quarter of a century ago. He said, "It seems like only my decision can save you. O contestant, is there any sadness in your singing?"

"There certainly is." Lee Da In replied.

Woo Hwi placed his palm on the ear, and a moment later he tapped on the jury table. He said, "I don't feel it. EXPRESS IT!"

"YES, I'M SO SAD!" lee Da In.

Woo Hwi opened his arms wide, "UNFOLD OUT LOUD, FOR EVERYONE IN THIS PLACE TO MOVE HIS HEART." and he stood up. "DISCLOSURE. ONE MORE TIME."

"I—SERAH—VERY SAD." said Lee Da In, plus sigh.

"YEAH!" woo Hwi's arms shook—the other two judges thought this was so silly—and she said, "Your sadness makes my heart scream. You ... ESCAPED." he shouted, in excess. But his decision was welcomed BY the entire audience.

"THANK YOU. THANK YOU VERY MUCH." Lee Da In endlessly nodded in thanks to him. She WAS TRULY grateful, and it added to the coffers of arrogance on Woo Hwi's shoulders.

Woo Hwi was greeted by applause from the staff in the dressing room as well as the rest room. The producer praised, "WAW! You are amazing. Lucifer Entertainment is the best. Undoubtedly, you are an incomparable rating elf." she brandished two thumbs at Woo Hwi who stood tall on his back.

Woo Hwi was a bit offended. He turned around instantly with a sinister sharp look. The Producer's thumb shrinks slowly because of it. "I'm not a fairy. I was ... the devil." he said, freezing the atmosphere.

"So said netizen. They say I am a demon. Hahahaha, basic." and the laughter of his feet let out an awkward laugh from the staff who immediately ended the meeting politely. "See you at the next shoot" the producer said, then led the staff to leave the room.

Before the door of the room was completely closed, Contestant Lee Da In who passed Woo Hwi had appeared with a timid smile. She is invited in by Woo Hwi, and they are left chatting alone in the room— on the sofa.

"Thank you for letting me go" Lee Da In said.

"So, has your grief paid off now?" Woo Hwi asked seriously after gulping down the mineral water in the bottle.

"After eating well and auditioning for this, I think it was the right decision" he said, airily.

Woo Hwi put his drinking bottle on the table and looked at the teenage girl in front of him sharply. He said, "Then it's time for you to get out of this boy's body."

"Yes." he nodded, and curled up his sleep—leaving a calm-faced spirit sitting in front of the Devil who helped him vent his heart's grief. He got up from the chair, saluted, and disappeared quietly.

"Aigoo, poor spirit." he muttered.
