When Emily and her colleagues entered the conference room, they found two Audi representatives waiting for them.
One of them was the graceful old blonde lady who seemed to have just reached the point where age had just begun to interfere with her outstanding appearance. Nevertheless, she was still a beautiful and elegant woman with an aura of confidence about her personality. He looked like a typical office type who was always in charge.
By his side was an alluring woman who was much younger, perhaps in her early 20s. Although Emily has met many beautiful women, the woman in front of her stands out. She is very attractive, the sharp lines of her oval face that match her dark brown hair and green eyes, reminiscent of perfection. Emily cannot find a decent comparison for her beauty as it lies in an unspoken realm, in the realm of unknown genetic wonders.
"Good morning and welcome," said the older woman right after they entered the conference room. He stood up from his seat, moved around the table, and reached out to each of them, starting with Zachary, then Emily, and finally Ryan.
"I'm Susanne Berdal, Audi's head of marketing and publicity here in Norway," the woman continued after shaking hands. "I've been looking forward to this meeting for some time. I'm glad Ryan let us meet earlier than I expected." He stopped, first taking a step towards Zachary.
"It's nice to meet you, Zachary," he said with a smile.
"It's nice to meet you too" replied Zachary, his tone courteous and respectful. "Thank you for having us."
"And this here has to be your agent, I guess," Susanne said, turning her gaze to Emily. "It's so nice that you're here. I hope we can work together to make this happen quickly." He added, stepping towards Emily and patting her on the shoulder.
Emily has noted that everything about Susanne Berdal projects confidence born from the experience of leading a meeting for a long time. But, he did not allow himself to feel the slightest bit intimidated by the dignified aura of the old woman. Instead, his morale soared higher as he nearly negotiated a deal between his client and one of Europe's most popular car brands.
"Thank you for accepting us," he replied, a polite smile adorning his face. "I'm Emily Anderson. And yes, I'm agent Zachary. I hope it works too. But it depends on what you want to offer." Her voice came out of her mouth with a steady rhythm as she tried to fight against the confident air projected by the older woman. The negotiations started with a handshake. As an agent, Emily doesn't want to lose her place even before an actual meeting to discuss a support deal could begin.
Susanne chuckled before turning from Emily towards the stunning young lady behind her. "This is Camilla Schneider, one of my assistants," he said. "He will handle most of the issues between Audi and Zachary here in Trondheim. That is, of course, if we can come to an agreement. Camiiiai! Let's greet our guests." He added, gesturing to the woman from her seat.
Camilla's face was smiling. "It's nice to meet you," she said, reaching out to greet Emily and Ryan one after another. "I've met Zachary in the showroom. So, I don't think there's gonna be any more introductions or greetings."
"You have met!" Both Emily and Susanne exclaimed in unison.
"Yes, we met in the showroom," said Zachary, maintaining a gentle smile and her steady voice. "He told me about the specifications of one of the cars that caught my attention. But I never expected that he was a member of the Audi marketing team I was supposed to meet."
Emily sighed when she realized that there was nothing strange in Zachary's response. "Well, we should continue business because we seem to have already completed the introduction?" He asked, a gentle smile still adorning his face.
"Since we're already acquainted, we can start an existing business" Susanne agreed. "Please sit down."
"Thank you" said Emily and her partner, more or less simultaneously before sitting in a comfortable office chair at one end of the conference table.
"I'm glad we're finally taking this step" Susanne said after also sitting in her chair on the other side of the table. "We are eager to work with Zachary to promote our brand here in Norway."
"Thank you" said Emily, smiling at Susanne. "Since we already know what we both want, can we get right into it? As you know, Zachary here played the game last night. He has to come back and recover for the preparation of the next game." He added, patting Zachary on the back.
"Of course, of course," Susanne replied as she nodded. "We can go straight into business. But first—" he stopped, turning towards Ryan.
"Ryan, would you like to be affectionate and first go and check out the machine Anna has been talking about" he said, his tone formal. "We need to talk to Emily and Zachary alone for a few minutes."
"Of course," Ryan quickly replied, a bright smile adorning his face. "I'll go now. Emily! You can call me when you're done here. I'll wait for you in the service department." He added before rushing out of the conference room like the wind.
"I'm sorry for making your friend leave from the meeting" Susanne said, apologizing. “Only we do not want our negotiation details to end in some tabloid or web before next month. The only way to ensure there are no leaks is to deal with as few people as possible during the negotiation process. So, we usually do not allow unrelated parties into our business meetings. Only company policy. Hope you understand!" He added, sweeping his gaze to Emily and Zachary.
"Yes, of course, we fully understand," Emily replied, smiling back at him. "In fact, if you don't ask him to leave, I'll do the same before starting the actual negotiations."
